She entered the school waiting to find everyone staring at her and whispering. But it went like everyday, people looking and making jokes. She didn't mind that, she'd gotten use to it and her concern was now Sesshoumaru. She sighed and continued down the hall to her first class. On her way there she spotted Kagura and Sesshoumaru talking, and couldn't help wonder what they were saying to each other. But she knew better than to be nosy and moved on. She quickly entered her first class and took a seat in front of Kagome.

 

“Hey Rin, how are you today?” Kagome chided cheerfully

“I'm fine, how about you?”

“Great, it's Sango's birthday today.”

“Honto no!” Rin turned to Sango, “I didn't know.”

“Gomen,” Sango giggled, “I forgot to tell you. I'm having a party tonight, do you want to come.”

“Of course.”

“Sorry the guest list is so short, but it will only be us and Shippo.” Sango sighed

“That's cool, who would want a crowd of people at their house who doesn't know them or like them.” Rin smiled

“Yeah.” Sango nodded

 

The teacher walked in and once again announced the starting of the class. Rin straightened up and began to listen.

 

“We have a project now class.” Mr. Han smiled hearing plenty of groans from the students, “We will be working with the senior class on this one though.”

Oohs and ahhs came from the happy teenagers and Rin could only feel a bit itchy about it.

“I know who I'll be working with.” Kagura smirked

“This economic project will team you with someone of the opposite sex, and you will do a project on the expenses of a married couple with children.”

Rin heard Kagura let out a happy giggle. I wonder what sound da bitch makes when ya strangle her ass?

“Will we get to pick our partners?” Kagura asked smiling

“No Kagura, I have picked your partners for you. So when I call you name come and pick up the papers for the project.”

 

The teacher then began naming off names. She wasn't really paying attention until she heard Kagura's name being called. She nonchalantly watched Kagura approach the desk with a happy look on her face. When she picked up the paper it was Rin's finest moment. The way her face dropped then turned to complete anger and disgust.

 

“What?! Why do I have to be paired with Eric Wong?” She almost yelled

“Calm down Kagura or I'll have to send you to the principle's office.”

Rin could see the little smile in Mr. Han's eyes; she knew he didn't like Kagura either. Then something occurred to Rin.

“Kagome, who did you get paired with?”

“Kouga Wolfwind.”

“You lucked out.” Rin laughed, “He really likes you.”

“I know.” She smiled looking at Inuyasha, “But he knows I'm with Inu.”

“I got Jakotsu Shino.” Sango sighed

“Isn't he gay?” Kagome whispered

“Very.” Sango sighed once more, “But so cute though.”

Inuyasha sniffed, “I got Ayame Minamori.”

Kagome looked at him, “Doesn't she have a crush on Kouga?”

“Yeah, we should switch.” Inuyasha sniffed

“Well I got the lovely Kikyo.” Miroku sighed

“Pervert.” Sango shook her head

“I don't know about you guys,” Rin looked at the teacher, “but it seems like he's pairing together everyone with Asian heritage.”

“I bet it's to make it more…realistic.” Kagome smiled

“So you wouldn't date out of your race Kagome?” Rin thought about the black guy she had dated in Chicago named Jay

“I don't know…”

“Rin Takahashi.”

 

Rin heard he name being called and approached the desk wondering who she'd get, but not really caring, as long as it wasn't Sesshoumaru. But in some weird way she was cursed. Right there in black and white on her paper was Sesshoumaru Taisho. Rin somewhat sulked and heard Kagura's slight jeer, “I bet she got someone from the chess team.” Rin looked her way and sneered and turned away. She has no clue. I hope she kills herself when she finds out who my partner is. She went back to her seat.

 

“So who did you get?” Kagome tried to smile although she saw Rin's expression.

“Inu's brother.”

“I'd be upset to.” Inuyasha put his hands behind his head

“He's pretty handsome though, a plus. But his personality…well…” Sango set her chin on her hand

“I know.” Rin inhaled

 

The rest of the class got their papers and partner's names and Mr. Han explained more about the project.

 

When class was finally over and Rin walked over to Mr. Han's desk.

 

“Yes Rin.”

“Why did you pair me with Sesshoumaru?”

“He requested it, when I told him he'd be working with Kagura he immediately declined…although it wasn't a request.” Mr. Han scratched his head, “He said he'd rather work with you, I couldn't say no knowing how…well… you know what I mean.”

“Yes sir.”

“Usually I don't change my mind but it did seem like a good idea.”

Rin nodded, “Ok, well I was just wondering sir.”

“Well have a good day Rin.”

Rin nodded once more and walked out the door.

 

She was expecting to see Sesshoumaru right there but had been lucky. She quickly went to her next class and began to wait out the rest of the day.

 

It finally came, her last class. She sat back wondering what they were going to do at Sango's party. She knew she'd just throw on some jeans and an oversized t-shirt and go like that. But what people like them did at a party…she was clueless. All the parties she went to in Chicago were always packed with loud music and alcohol. She suddenly had the urge to go clubbing. It'd be funny to drag em to a club in Compton. Rin smiled to herself, just imagining the looks on their faces.

 

“So who are you taking to the dance?”

Rin turned to see Kagura smiling, “Dance?”

“Yeah, the only person who would ever take you to a dance would have to be the person who's going to put up with you for three weeks on the project.”

Rin cocked her head, “So Eric is taking you to the dance?”

Kagura sneered and something occurred to Rin. Why don't I just tell her? Give the bitch somethin ta cry about all night.

“Well if you must know,” Rin took on a snotty tone, “It's Sesshoumaru Taisho.”

The look on Kagura's face was priceless. She went completely white, almost ghostly. “You're kidding me?!”

Rin shook her head tempted with telling her that Sesshoumaru picked Rin over her.

“That's so much bull!”

Rin smiled, “So I guess Sesshoumaru's taking me to the dance.”

 

Rin faced the front and heard Kagura walk away to her little Kagurettes and started complaining.

 

The class went by quite fast and before Rin knew it she was out in the parking lot in her car. She couldn't have been more satisfied with the day's outcome. Then she heard someone banging on her window. She looked to her left and saw Kagura's angry red eyes.

 

Rin gingerly rolled down the window, “What do you want?”

“I'm going to the principle with this. You fixed it you bitch!”

“And how did I do that?”

“You're always hanging around with Mr. Han! You probably bribed him.”

“I'm poor remember, I don't have the money bribe him.” Rin smiled and began to start up her car.

“Then you must of have gave him something else, I knew you were a `teacher's pet.'”

Rin turned off her car and opened the door, “You have a lot of nerve. Everyone knows how you passed Algebra 2.”

“Excuse me?!”

Rin got back in her car, “You heard me.” She started up her engine and pulled out of the parking lot

 

By the time Rin had made it home she was boiling mad. Part of her wanted to beat the living hell out of Kagura right then and there, another part kept her calm and cool producing a good come back.

“I don't give a fuck what dat bitch say. She gon end up wit an ass whoppin' fuckin wit me.” Rin rolled her eyes and got out the car.

“Hey honey, I'm going to the store ok? Tell your father I be home soon.” Her mother smiled

Rin nodded loving the way her Mom's accent was so cute. She shook her head and headed to the front door.

 

Once inside she dashed upstairs and into her room. She was more than ready to discard her uniform and slip into some jeans and a shirt.

 

“When did Sango say she was having her get together?” Rin scratched her head, “I think seven?”

She looked at the clock and it read 4:23 p.m.

“I've got enough time to relax.”

She pulled off the uniform as if it were burning her flesh and flopped on the bed in her bra and panties. She lazily picked up her remote and turned on the TV.

“Dr. Phil…”

“I didn't know you liked Dr. Phil.”

Rin's head shot up and she froze. Sesshoumaru stood in the doorway leaning on the frame. Rin rolled over and fell off the bed. Popping her head up she glared at him. If I wasn't in my underwear I'd fuck him up.

 

“Don't you know how to knock?!”

“Your mom let me in and your door was open.”

“Get out!!”

Rin saw him smirk as he turned and closed the door behind him. She quickly stood and went to her closet. She picked out a pair of faded jeans and a big white t-shirt that said `Robin's Book Sale' on it. Walking out of the closet she went straight to her door and flung it open.

 

“What are you doing here Sesshoumaru?”

“I'm your partner remember.” He was still turned around, “I thought we should get started, we're supposed to update every day.”

“And that keeps you from making your presence known?”

“I did.”

“You know what I mean.”

Sesshoumaru turned around and looked at her, “So you like to read.” He walked past her and took a seat on her bed. I can't believe the audacity of dis nigga. He's just gonna walk in and take a mothafuckin seat!

“I didn't invite you inside my room Sesshoumaru.”

He looked up at her with a passive expression. She crossed her arms and nodded towards the door. Sesshoumaru lifted his head slightly and leaned back on his elbows. MOTHAFUCKA!!

“Get out now!” Rin was ready to reach for the nearest heavy object and bop him over the head with it.

“You're going to have to move me yourself.” He tilted his head to the side

“Mothafucka if you don't mo…” Rin clasped her hand over mouth as Sesshoumaru's eyebrows raised in surprise

“And you kiss your mother with that mouth?”

Rin narrowed her eyes, “No, but I kiss your daddy with it.” She frowned

Sesshoumaru chuckled and laid back on the bed, “I knew you weren't who you were pretending to be.”

“What?”

“I knew it when I saw you at that coffee shop.” He sat back up on his elbow, “What would a girl like you be doing in Compton so late, drinking, and dressed like you were at that.”

“What do you mean?”

“I got a peek at your belt buckle, bitch?” He smirked

Rin chewed on the inside of her mouth and turned her head.

“But that's irrelevant.” Sesshoumaru said in monotone

“Then what's relevant.”

“I picked you to be my partner.”

“What? Hold on.”

“I knew there was something…interesting about you. Plus, I would rather endure my skin being ripped open with dirty nails and salt being poured into the wounds, then have to spend three weeks with Kagura.”

Rin let a slight smile creep onto her face, “Same here.”

“So how about we get started, I have things to do.”

There he goes again! “No one invited you.”

“True, but I have a grade to take care of. So, let's get this over with.”

Rin rolled her eyes and went for her backpack.

 

They had finished the first day of paper work. Everyone got a job; Sesshoumaru ending up as a lawyer and Rin ending up as a waitress. She scowled when she found her job listed. They worked out their finances and ended up in a one-story house, with one car, and the basics. Rin had looked through it and called Sesshoumaru a broke lawyer. In which he responded, `I'll take a burger and fries.' She couldn't help but scowl and then laugh. I guess he has somethin' of a humor.

 

Sesshoumaru stood at the threshold of Rin's door.

“I'll come by tomorrow after school.”

“What if I'm not here?”

He narrowed his eyes as if saying, `You better be here.'

Rin smirked and chuckled, “I'll be here.”

Sesshoumaru just turned and let himself out.

 

Rin listened for the door and once she was sure he was gone she laid back on her bed. It wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be. She turned toward her clock and saw the numbers 6:52. She jumped up and ran to her dresser looking for a pair of socks. How the hell did it take dat long?! This is some bullshit! She grabbed her black converse and rushed downstairs to her car. I'm not worried, Sango'll understand.

 

She made it to Sango's house fifteen minutes later with a smile on her face. Only fashionably late…oh shit! I forgot a gift. Rin tried to quickly think of what to run off and get when Sango bounded out of house and to her car.

 

“I'm glad you made it Rin.”

Rin smiled, “Me too.”

“Nani, did you think you weren't going to?”

“Well…I gotta tell you about it later.”

“Iie, tell me now?!” Sango clasped her hands together, “Is it about Sesshoumaru?”

“Hai.” Rin sighed

“Well spill it!”

“He showed up at my house right after school.”

“And…”

“He saw me in my underwear.”

“Rin! I didn't know you were that kind of girl.”

“I'm not! Like I said, he just showed up.” Rin got out the car, “I had gotten undressed and he just popped up in my door way.”

“Honto no!”

“Hai.”

“Oh my god! What happened next?”

“Nothing, I yelled at him to get out, got some clothes on, and after some rough talk we started on the project.”

“Rough talk as in?”

“What's going on out here Sango?” Kagome approached

“Rin let Sesshoumaru see her in her underwear.”

“What?” Kagome's eyes became as wide as saucers

“I didn't let him see me; I didn't even know he was there till her said something.”

“What did her say?” Kagome grabbed onto Sango's shoulders.

“It was silly.”

“Silly, like what, nice underpants?” Sango laughed

“No, I was watching Dr. Phil and…it's not important ok.” Rin walked past the two girls

“But the whole thing with the project… was there any romance?” Kagome asked

“None.”

“Bummed?” Sango sighed

“Not in the least.” Rin replied

They stood in front of Sango's door and Kagome reached out to Rin, “You sound as if you don't like him.”

“I really don't, he's an asshole.”

Sango giggled and Kagome opened the door

“He's really…um…not as mean when you get to know him.” Kagome smiled

“I bet.” Rin ran her hand through her hair and then it occurred to her again, I don't have a gift for Sango! Wait, I'll give her money. Everyone likes money. Rin put her hands in her pocket nonchalantly and began to slowly fill around. She found paper bills and hoped to God one of them was a twenty.

 

The rest of night consisted of them playing games like Charade, Uno, and Scrabble. Around ten thirty they sang happy birthday to Sango and gave their presents to her. Kagome went first as Sango ripped open the package, Rin fished out a ten, two fives, and four ones. She looked up and saw Sango lift out a boomerang.

 

“I know how much you like playing with Kirara so I thought this would be fun.” Kagome smiled

Sango hugged Kagome and thanked her

Next Inuyasha handed her a gift, “Here ya go Sango.”

Sango tore open the gift and found a box with perfume in it, “This is awesome Inu!”

Rin slowly started to feel badly. She looked over at Miroku as he handed her a plain white box. Sango pulled the lid off and pulled out a long black dress with spaghetti straps.

“This is so sweet of you Miroku.” She kissed his cheek and then let a squeak when he caressed her bottom. She slapped him firmly, “I gave you too much credit.”

Everyone laughed as Shippo set a wrapped gift before her; she opened it and found a box that said `Bag O' Tricks' the front was decorated with mushrooms with eyes and little toys.

“Thanks Shippo.” Sango hugged him

Rin knew it was her turn and handed Sango seventeen bucks, “This is for your seventeenth birthday, it's not much but I couldn't think of what I should get.” Or rather I forgot.

“Thanks Rin.” Sango hugged her, “This gift is just as good as all the others.”

 

They finished the night by singing karaoke. Inuyasha sang `At the Beginning' with Kagome. Shippo sang a strange song called `Banana Phone' which made everyone bust out in laughter. Miroku sang `Here and Now' to Sango, and Sango sang `Get This Party Started'. When it came time for Rin to sing she slowly walked to the machine and looked through the songs. The only songs here are Disney, Oldies, and Pop. She finally decided to sing `Dirty' and two-stepped the song as she sang. If she had been really trying to dance the whole show would have been a lot more…dirty. When she finished she let out a sigh.

 

“You were great Rin! Where did you learn to sing like that?” Shippo asked

“Well, my friends and I would get together and sing songs all the time.” Rin smiled

Most of the songs she used to sing were R&B and she wished she could have sung something by TLC or somebody else.

 

“Well, it's getting late,” Rin stretched, “and we all have school tomorrow.”

“You've got a point.” Miroku stood, “We should be getting to bed Sango.”

Sango swatted him over the head with a pillow, “There's some incentive, why don't you go on home Miroku and keep dreaming.”

Miroku rubbed his head, “Yeah, I'll be dreaming of you my lovely Sango.”

“Oh it's definitely dream if I'm there.” Sango put her hands on her hips.

Rin laughed and started towards the door, “I'll see you guys tomorrow okay?”

They all nodded and Rin walked out to her car.

 

Once she made it home and was safely in her bed, Rin turned on the TV and thought back to the day's events. She smiled when Kagura's angry face appeared, but frowned remembering her accusations. If I'm lucky, da bitch'll kill over. She laid her head down and thought of Sesshoumaru, wondering why he was so interested in her. He acts like everythin bores him to damn death. I guess he's just lookin for some excitement or somethin. She closed her eyes and let her thoughts roam till she fell asleep.

 

The next day Rin walked into school she could see people eyeing her and whispering. What da fuck is goin on now?! She frowned and went to her locker. When she opened it a whole case of condoms fell out. What da fuck is dis!! She looked around and saw Kagura.

 

“Busy study session with Mr. Han?” Kagura laughed

“So you did this?”

“Of course not Rin. Don't try to blame me for your over zealous actions. So tell me, how big is it?” Kagura laughed closing her eyes

Rin wanted to walk up to her and knock the hell out of her. She just narrowed her eyes and picked up the condoms and put them back in the box.

“Make sure you don't miss any. You wouldn't want to come up short now would you?”

Rin grunted and threw the box at her, hitting Kagura square in the face. Kagura's head snapped back and she fell to the floor.

“You bitch!”

“Just returning what's yours.” Rin started walking away

“I'm going to get the principle!”

Rin just kept on walking and rolled her eyes.

 

She wasn't in her first class for fifteen minutes before she was called to the principle's office.

 

“I can't believe you threw a box of condoms at her Miss. Mishimoto.” Principle Lake took off his glasses

“I'm sorry sir. I lost my temper when she kept making false remarks.”

“Yes, she told me that she saw you kissing Mr. Han.”

“That's not true. If you ask Mr. Han…”

“I've already talked to him. And he denied these accusations as well.”

“She's just upset that I got partnered up with Sesshoumaru and she didn't.”

“Really?”

“Yes.”

“Well Miss Takahashi, you know the rules about Teacher/Student relationships right?”

“Yes sir, but I promise you, the relationship is only that of a teacher and a student.”

“Well since I have no real proof I'm going to let it fly by. But if I get another complaint we're going to have to do an investigation.”

Rin nodded, “Yes sir, thank you sir.”

“Go back to your class Miss Takahashi.”

Rin took the pass from Mr. Lake and left.

 

On her way back to class Rin came up with many ways to get back at Kagura. Dat bitch is gonna wish she was dead. Don't nobody fuck wit me! She walked into the classroom with all eyes on her. She handed her pass to the teacher and took her seat.

 

“What was that about Rin?” Kagome asked

“It looks like Kagura went through on her lame threat.”

“What are you talking about?” Kagome whispered

“She said that she would tell the principle that me and Mr. Han were having an affair because I got partnered with Sesshoumaru.”

“She's such a bitch.” Sango leaned over and whispered

“She's lucky I can't kick her ass.” Rin frowned and turned back to the teacher

She heard giggling and looked over at Kagura. Kagura narrowed her eyes and mouthed to her `You are so dead' and then turned her attention up front.

 

When class was over Rin headed straight for the parking lot. I can't take much more of dat bitch. If I see her one more time I swear I'm gonna fuck her up. Rin got into her car, laid her head back and closed her eyes. She heard someone rapping their knuckles on her window. She opened one eyes and meet a pair of gold eyes. Sesshoumaru motioned for her to role down her windows.

 

“What?” She sighed

“I heard about what happened.”

“And…?”

“I went and talked to Mr. Lake, I told him what Kagura told me. How she stashed those condoms in your locker, and about me requesting to be your partner.”

“So…”

“Kagura's in his office right now.”

Rin wasn't sure if she saw a smile in his eyes or not. “Thanks.”

Sesshoumaru opened her door. “I don't think she'll be joining your class this afternoon, so why don't you go back.”

Rin exhaled, “I swear, if I even look at her again I'm gonna…”

“I know, I can't tolerate her either.” Sesshoumaru turned and started walking towards his car

“Where are you going?”

“I don't feel like going to class today.”

“And what if the principle calls for you?”

“I told him I was leaving.”

A shocked look came over her face, “And what did he say.”

He just shrugged, “My Father finances some of the schools more…expensive events.”

“Uh huh.”

Sesshoumaru's eyebrow arched, “Do you want to come with me?”

Rin frowned, “I thought you just told me to go to class.”

Sesshoumaru shrugged and opened his car door.

“Wait, wait, I'm coming.”

 

Rin locked her door and ran over to his car and got in on the other side.

“Where are we going?”

“I don't know.” Sesshoumaru started up the engine
