Ja matta: See you later.

Everyone got up early the next morning to take T. to the airport. Rin hugged him with tears in her eyes and kissed him on the cheek.
“I wish you didn't have to go.”
“Ah c'mon, don't be doin' dat cryin' shit man. You makin' a nigga sad and shit.” T. shook his head.
“We're going to miss you.” Kagome hugged him.
Sango was next; she gave him a tight hug. Inuyasha and Miroku shook his hand and told him to visit soon.
“I don't think it'll be as interesting without you around.” Sesshoumaru shook T.'s hand
“Oh don't worry, I'm applyin' to UCLA. So ya'll might be seein' me here pretty soon.” T. smiled
Everyone's eyes lit up and they smiled looking at each with glee. Rin ran to him and gave him an extra big hug.
“Well, I betta catch dat flight. Stay outta trouble.” T. smiled as he went to board his plane.

The group stayed a little bit longer to watch his plane take off, and then left the airport.
“I'm taking Rin home.” Sesshoumaru said to the others as he climbed into the car.
Kagome gave Rin a hug. “Ja matta.”
“Kagome, we're going to school in a couple of hours.” Rin smiled with a look of amusement.
Kagome looked down at her feet. “Yeah, I know, but it seems like everyone's going their own separate ways.”
Rin shook her head and hugged her friend. “I'll see you guys later.”

The ride to Rin's home was surprisingly quite. Rin twiddled her thumbs and tried to think of something to say. That's when something important occurred to her.
“My car!” Rin shouted
“It's back at your house.”
“How do you know?”
“Inuyasha told me that they dropped it off last night.”
“That's nice of them.”
“You have some thoughtful friends.”
“They're your friends too.”
Sesshoumaru gave her a look that said `As if' and then turned his attention back to the road.
“You seemed to get along with them pretty well yesterday.”
“They were guest in my home and Inuyasha's friends.”
“So what, you don't like them.”
“I honestly don't care either way.”
Rin frowned and crossed her arms.

The rest of the drive seemed longer than usual. Rin gathered it was the silence that made it so, but refused to say anything to him. As soon as he was parked out at her house she got out. Sesshoumaru noticed her anger and got out as well.
“What's wrong now?” He folded his arms.
“You're being an asshole again.” Rin opened the back door and got her stuff out.
“Just because I won't cozy up to your friends?”
“No Sesshoumaru, you don't have to like them. But you don't have to be so cold. I thought we were having fun last night.”
Sesshoumaru sighed, “I like T.”
“Everyone likes T.”
“The others are… adequate.”
Rin turned around with a glare on her face. Words tried to make their way out of her mouth but failed. All she could do was stomp towards her house.
“Rin.”
“Don't talk to me.”
Sesshoumaru shook his head and got back in his car. He didn't have the patients for her silly tantrums.

Rin opened the door and found her parents glaring at her. Dammit! They know what happened at da dance. She lowered her eyes and took a seat, gingerly tapping her fingers on the arm rest of the chair.
“So…what's up?”
Her father wasted no time tearing in to her. “What the hell were you thinking Rin? Are you trying to get expelled from school?!”
“Otousan..”
“Don't even start!” Her father shouted, “The school just called and informed me that have been suspended for fighting. Fighting Rin?!”
“Kagura started it.” Rin whined.
“Don't give me that! You know how to walk away.”
“I couldn't, she tried to tackle me!”
“That's enough.” Her mother said sternly, “I understand things are hard for you…”
“But it wasn't my fault.”
“Don't interrupt your mother!” Her father shouted once more, “From what I've been told, you were provoking her.”
“I was just dancing with Sesshoumaru.”
“He seems to get you in a lot of trouble.”
“Oh come on Dad, don't pin this on him. It's not his fault she's a jealous brat.”
“Don't get smart with me.”
“I'm not Daddy.”
“Oh, so now I'm Daddy.”
Rin sighed, “She came at me first, and she'll been bullying me since I started school. If I didn't fight back then it would only get worse.”
“She's right.” Rin mother nodded, “And you know that.”
Rin's father let out a deep breath and nodded, “Hai, but I don't want this happening again. We're going to go speak to your principle.”
Rin nodded, “In my room?”
Rin's mother shook her head, “There's a bucket and cleaning supplies in the kitchen. I want everything spotless.”
Rin's shoulders sunk and she nodded.

Rin scrubbed the floors sadly; she was too depressed to listen to music. And even if she wasn't, she didn't think her parents would approve of it. All she could do at this point was keep cleaning, and hope that things went well between her parents and the principle.

It wasn't until several hours later did Rin's parents came home. They didn't look as mad as they were when they left, which was a relief for her. She took a seat in the living room and waited for the results.
“Well,” her Mother started, “We talked to your principle and he told us what happened.”
“We know that you didn't start the fight,” Her Father crossed his arms. “and we're glad that you defended yourself. But the way you conducted yourself…disappointed us.”
“I'm grounded aren't I?”
Rin's Father looked at her Mother and sighed then shook his head, “No, we're proud that you're not ashamed of who you are and where you're from.”
“Just don't go around school like a …uh…gangster.” Rin's Mother giggled
Rin smiled widely, “I definitely won't do that.”
Rin's Mother looked around and nodded, “The house looks good.”
Rin's Father nodded his head as well, “You taught her well.” He smacked his knees, “Alright, go to your room.”
Rin frowned, “I thought you said I wasn't grounded.”
“Your not, but you do need to clean it and get in bed.”
Rin smiled and stood, “Thanks for understanding.”

Rin had finally finished cleaning her room. She made sure all her clothes were hung up and put away. She dusted, arranged, and vacuumed her room. She smiled at her handy work and headed to the shower. After all that cleaning she felt unbearable dirty. Now that her `chores' were done and she didn't have to worry about being in trouble with her parents, she felt a lot weight come off her chest. And just when she thought everything was right in her world, her mind touched something.

Rin frowned; she had no idea how some of the other students were going to treat her. She had shown her true colors. Would they be afraid of her? Would they shun her? Would they respect her or was she popular now? Rin had no doubt that she was popular, she beat up Kagura. The real question was, is she popular in a good way? She finished washing her hair and stepped out the shower. I ain't gonna worry bout dis shit no more. Whatever happens, happens. She put on a night shirt and climbed into. I'll see what's goin on tomorrow.

The next morning Rin awoke with a stomach ache. She didn't quite know what it was. She scratched her head and reflected back on the strange dream she had. Rin had went to school in her street clothes. Everyone stared and laughed at her. She saw her friends; they gawked at her and shook their heads. She tried to talk to them but they kept saying, `Get away from us!' Rin ran down the hall to find Sesshoumaru and when she did he was leaning against a locker, his long hair back in place. Her frowned at her and shook his head, then walked away and vanished. Tears spilled from her eyes and turned only to find Kagura holding a gun, she gasped and a shot fired. That's when she woke up with the stomach ache.

Rin shook her head and got out of bed. She could have done with out the dream. I must have been thinkin on it too hard when I went to bed. Her stomach growled loudly. I should have ate last night. Rin walked into her closet and dressed, the dream still bothering her. By the time she got downstairs her mind was reeling with the possibilities of what could happen. She stared at the breakfast her mother made and suddenly felt sick. Nonetheless Rin ate her food and made her way to school.

As she drove to school she was almost shaking, she was nervous and anxious at the same time. By the time she had arrived and parked, she was considering going back home. Rin sighed and gripped her steering wheel. If she went home today all it would do is delay the inevitable. She would eventually have to come back to school, there's no way her parents would even think about home schooling her. She opened her car door and stepped out. Thank goodness no one was in the parking lot.

Rin opened the door to the school and stepped inside. Just as always, people were in the hall getting ready to go to class. Talking with their friends and doing all the things that normal high school students do in the morning. But as soon as she got far enough into the hallway all eyes were on her. Whispers started and she got several different kinds of looks. Some were smiles, some were `I can't believe it', and some were right down and dirty. She finally found Kagome and Sango.

“So…what's up?” Rin asked dread filling her from the dream she had last night.
“What's up?” Kagome frowned with a smile, “Your name is on everybody's lips.”
“Just like yesterday.” Sango added
“There some rumors flying around about you though.” Kagome nodded her head
“Like what?” Rin whispered like it was a secret
“Well,” Sango giggled, “We've heard everything from, you moved to, you got kicked out.”
“Really?”
“Yep.” Kagome nodded, “But Sesshoumaru's got a lot of heat. People have been asking him all kinds of questions.”
“I bet.” Rin ran a hand through her hair.
“So what are you going to do now?” Sango asked
“What I have to, go to school.”
“Sounds about right to me.” Kagome smiled

The day went on almost just like the morning. Every now and then someone would come up to Rin with a question like, `Are you a gangster?' and `What does it feel like to beat up the most popular girl in school?' Even someone from the school newspaper asked her to have lunch with them to do a story. Of course Rin declined, she didn't want anymore gossip going around then there already was.

It was finally lunch time and Rin was starving. The sudden flare of popularity, good and bad, made her hungry.

“Want to go off campus?” Rin asked Kagome and Inuyasha
“Tired of everyone huh?” Inuyasha arched his eyebrow
“More than tired, overly tired to be exact.” Rin shook her head
“Hey Rin!!” A voice shouted. A tall boy with short black ran up to her, “Are you really from the ghetto?”
Rin shook head and shot him a mean glare.
“Whoa killer!” He laughed throwing his hands up, “Don't shoot me.”
“Go away!” Kagome sneered at him
“I just want to ask her something.” He smiled
“What?” Rin growled
“Do the accent thing.”
“The what?” Rin frowned
“They talk, you know…the slang. Yo homie yo.” He swerved his head imitating `street behavior'
Rin shook her head and started to walk away. It took everything in her not to punch that boy square in the nose.

As thoughts rattled themselves around her head, Rin blocked out all the people calling her name until someone touched her shoulder. And that was it, that's the straw that broke the camel's back. She spun on her heel and threw a misguided punch behind her. Sesshoumaru ducked the right and side stepped.

“So I take it you're still made at me.” He arched his eyebrow.
Rin covered her mouth with her hand and shook her head, “I'm so sorry, did I hit you?”
“No.” He crossed his arms.
“I'm sorry; I thought you were a `paparazzi'.”
“You are quite famous now, and not only in school. There's even a little story on you in the paper.”
“You're kidding right?”
“Not in the least. I think it said, `Angry Ghetto Youth Assaults High School Prep Queen.' or something to that effect.”
Rin shook her head, “I can't believe this.”
“How about we have lunch off campus? We can loose some of your `fans' that way.”
Rin nodded and followed Sesshoumaru.

On the way to a deli near school, Rin told Sesshoumaru about the disturbing dream she had.

“I'm starting to think I might have preferred the dream.” Rin laughed
“Do you really think I'd turn my back on you like that?”
“I certainly hope not.”
“It was in your subconscious.”
“Sesshoumaru please, I don't need a psycho analysis today.”
Sesshoumaru nodded and parked, he looked over at Rin and leaned over and kissed her.
“I'll only give you a break today. But don't get used to it; I have to make my money you know.” He smiled
Rin shook her head and laughed.

When they entered the deli they weren't surprised that they had some tag alongs. Some students were there because they normally ate there. But most of them were there to hound Rin about the fight. People had started gathering to ask questions until Sesshoumaru eyed them and asked one question.

“How many of you enjoy having your teeth in your mouth?” He said calmly looking around
That was enough initiative for them to move back and leave Rin and Sesshoumaru alone.

The couple got to the counter and ordered their food. Rin smiled at Sesshoumaru and kissed his cheek, thanking him for warding off the all too nosy people. And most people think that peace would stay, but of course it is Rin's life. And in Rin's life, there wasn't much luck.

“I hope you know you got my cousin suspended.” A familiar voice growled
Rin turned around and looked at Naraku, “She deserved it.”
“What's wrong with your speech? What happen to the badass gangster girl from Chicago? Or do you have Hulk syndrome, she only comes out when you get mad?”
“I think you need to find somewhere to be Naraku.” Sesshoumaru warned
“Do you think I'm afraid of you Taisho?” Naraku smiled evilly then turned back to Rin, “I advise you not to press charges.”
“Or what?” Sesshoumaru stood up. His patients had burnt out.
“Nothing good.” Naraku turned and started to walk away, “I heard you like to dance, I'm sure you'd like it stay that way.”
Sesshoumaru started after Naraku but Rin stopped him, “He's bluffing.”
“You don't know Naraku then.”
Rin looked back with worry in her eyes. That's when her mind yelled at her. Don't let dis preppy mothafucka scare you. What's his punk ass gonna do anyway? Rin looked back at Sesshoumaru and shook her head.
“Let's just finish eating.”

Of course when they got back to school the two were thrown back into the whirl wind of questions, jokes, and glances. Rin was ready to go home and wasn't sure if she would return the next day. Sesshoumaru had told her, `Give it a few more days and things will go back to normal.' But by the look of things she thought it would take weeks before that happened. She pushed pass people and ignored them on the way to class. She couldn't wait for the day to be over with.

It was finally Rin's last class. She walked into the classroom and took her seat. She was itchy with anticipation of the end of the day. She didn't bother looking around at everybody; she already knew all eyes were on her. Nothing amazing happened, just the usual stupid questions and comments. When the bell rang she felt like jumping up and clicking her heels.

When Rin got into the parking lot she found her tires slashed. What da fuck?! Needless to say she was pissed. And her first thought was Naraku. She sighed, right about now it could be anyone because she was the most hated and loved girl in the school right now. It very well could have been the Kagurettes. She sighed and ran her fingers through her hair, she needed find Sesshoumaru. Rin turned around and realized she had gathered a crowd.
“Does anyone know who did this?!” She yelled
“Careful, she might have a gun.” A voice yelled back mocking her.
“I want to know who did it now!”
“I did.” A deep voice responded, “Just a little taste of what I can do.” Naraku stepped out
“I thought you were smarter than this Naraku. You're going to admit to this in front of all these people?”
“I'm not worried; no one here is going to back you up. In fact, I think a lot of the students here feel very unsafe with you around.” Naraku looked around
“Alright, so you slashed my tires, ooh scary. What will you do next?” Rin feigned being scared
“This is just a message; you should leave and go back to your dear Chicago.” Naraku turned around
“I'm not afraid of you Naraku.” Rin grimaced, she couldn't think of anything better to say as she watched him walk away.

Rin pushed through the crowd to find Sesshoumaru. Lucky for her Sesshoumaru had been looking for her as well. He grabbed her by the wrist and pulled her to him.
“Sesshoumaru.”
“I saw the crowd and knew it had to be you.”
Rin nodded, “Naraku slashed my tires.”
“I'll take you home.”
Sesshoumaru guided Rin to his car and opened the door for her.
“What makes him think he can just do something like that?” Rin frowned as she got into the car.
“Because he can.”
“What?”
“Naraku has a lot more influence in the school than you know. Not just with the principle, but the students as well. He's the main and only drug supplier here. Even some of the teachers buy from him.”
“You're kidding!”
“No, he even has ties in Compton. I'm surprised he hadn't told Kagura about you earlier.”
“Maybe he's never seen me there.”
“I doubt that.” Sesshoumaru started his car.

The ride to Rin's house was full of questions.
“What am I going to do?”
“I don't know, but the last thing you want to do is make trouble for him.”
“Me?! What about you, you were ready to fight him in a restaurant.”
“Naraku knows better than to test my patience.”
“So wouldn't he be afraid to mess with me? I am your girlfriend.”
Sesshoumaru looked over to Rin, “He has something in mind.”
“You seem to know a lot about Naraku.”
“We used to be good friends.”
“Any more secrets you'd like to reveal?” Rin frowned
Sesshoumaru kept his eyes on the rode “When he first started to sell drugs I distanced myself from him. I didn't want the slightest chance of him getting caught and anyone thinking I had something to do with it.”
Rin nodded, “So what now?”
“Don't worry about it; I'll take care of it.”
Rin looked to Sesshoumaru, “What are you going to do?”
“I said don't worry about it.”
Sesshoumaru pulled up to Rin's house and turned to her. “Everything's going to be ok.”
Rin nodded and kissed him, “Thanks Sesshoumaru.”
Sesshoumaru nodded and kissed her back. He watched Rin get out and walk to her front door. He waved at her and waited till she was inside. Sesshoumaru frowned and took off. He was going to do something about Naraku right now.

It was a forty five minute drive to Naraku's house. Sesshoumaru had taken that time to think of exactly what he was going to say to Naraku. He thought about having the police get involved, but the ties that Naraku's family has would leave everything in a dead lock. And if anything did happen, all Naraku would get was a slap on the wrist. That wouldn't stop him from doing something to Rin. For the first time in Sesshoumaru's life he was afraid for someone, and that in itself scared him. He had always prided himself on his ability not to care.

Sesshoumaru pulled up to Naraku's house at the gate. He entered the code he remembered from when they were friends. He was surprised to find that it hadn't been changed since then. It was one year going on two when he told Naraku he no longer wanted to be acquainted with him. Sesshoumaru walked up the house and rung the door bell. An albino girl answered, it was Kanna, Naraku's little sister.

“What are you doing here?” Kanna asked in an even tone
“I'm here to see Naraku.”
Kanna nodded, “This way.”
Sesshoumaru followed Kanna to a large room. Inside he found Naraku sitting at a coffee table with four scantly clad woman, alcohol and empty beer bottle lying about, and an insane amount of cocaine (which Naraku was indulging himself in) on the coffee table.
“Naraku.” Sesshoumaru raised his voice, but didn't yell.
Naraku sat up and wiped his nose snorting, “Well, well, if it isn't my old pal Sess.”
Sesshoumaru crossed his arms. “We need to talk.”
“I suppose we do. This about your hood rat right?” Naraku lit a cigarette, “How about a line first?”
Sesshoumaru responded with silence and a passive look on his face.”
“Right,” Naraku nodded taking another drag, “you don't do drugs. You like to dare to be different.” He chuckled
“I want you to leave Rin alone.”
Naraku shook his head, “See bro, I can't do that. My cousin is in a lot of trouble because of her. And with Kagura gone, my production flow has stopped slightly. And you know how I feel about someone messing with my money. Now, if she doesn't press charges, then I'll leave her alone.”
“I don't think Rin has any intentions on pressing charges. You just make sure Kagura leaves her alone.”
“You already know that's not going to happen. Kagura loves revenge; she's going to make Rin pay.”
Sesshoumaru shook his head, it didn't make since to him. Kagura had started the fight and got what she deserved.
“Don't push my hand Naraku.”
“I advise that Rin leave school because when Kagura comes back, she'll have hell to pay.”
“She's not going anywhere.”
“Then she'll have to suffer with the consequences.”
Sesshoumaru folded his arms, “This has been blown out of proportion, but if anything happens to Rin then I'll have to take a personal interest in your buisness.”
“You sure are going out of your way for this girl, don't tell me the great Sesshoumaru Taisho is pussy whooped.” Naraku laughed
Sesshoumaru narrowed his eyes, “Fine then, just don't be surprised when your little operation gets shut down.”
Naraku's face took on a deadly serious expression; he knew that Sesshoumaru had plenty on him. For a moment he even reconsidered letting Kagura have her revenge. Then his cool slipped back into place and he smiled, “What makes you think that I'd let you do that.” Naraku pulled a gun out from behind him.
“You wouldn't dare…”Sesshoumaru started
“Remember when you abandoned me after I offered for you to be my partner? I do believe you were mugged that very day.” Naraku smiled
Sesshoumaru's eyes widened, “You?”
“Yes, I didn't want you running to cops just so you could pull your ass out of the fire.” He sat back, “But your little friends interfered, but now I have a lot more… `employees' and it would be a shame to see that gym burn down.”
“Don't make threats you can't follow through on.”
“And what are you going to do, turn me into the cops? I'll get off easy and you know it.”
“It won't be the police you'll have to worry about. You know me Naraku, don't test my patience.”
Naraku nodded, “You're right, I guess I should just take care of you right here and now.” Naraku pointed the gun at Sesshoumaru.
