To Have Known Both


She saw herself in him. Maybe that's why she refused to kill him. Or maybe she just wanted a friend that would understand, who she could let her guard down with. Silently she walked the grassy meadow.


He was ill-tempered and closed off but she herself was closed.


For she never lived a normal life. Being a Miko meant training hard. Given the Shikon no Tama because she was a Miko meant having hate turn on you for no reason. Being hated meant being harmed. Being harmed meant killing to live, to protect the Shikon. And climatically killing meant being unhappy.


Because ,surely, she doubted, that anyone who killed was ever happy.


However today she walked with a smile. Because really behind that cold strong charade Kikyo was indeed innocent when it came to such things. She wasn't native when it came to killing, bloodshed, and the imperfectness of humans. When it came to evil she knew everything she wasn't innocent with such knowledge.


But when it came to simple things she was. Like smiles un-cold, warm hugs, embarrassment, and love.


She loved the half demon InuYasha.


She was always told that demons were bad but InuYasha couldn't have been bad because he was only hurt. And she wanted to heal his wounds but she couldn't do that with the Shikon no Tama on her shoulders.


She asked him to become human.


The wish would be pure and besides she couldn't make him full demon like he asked because after all that wish wasn't pure and then still their trails would continue because if she a human was with InuYasha a full demon they would be looked down upon.

Unknown to her she would be living the life of InuTashio and Izayoi.

Her and InuYasha would live happy as humans and he had agreed. After all his mother was human and she was the only woman he had ever loved and the only person that cared for him. That is to Kikyo came or he came to Kikyo. Whichever way it wasn't important.

She was almost at the god tree when she stopped to reflect. In this moment she was happy. She smiled a little she was going to be set free. She was going to be with the one she loved and free not to kill because she had to defend herself against those who hated her for the Shikon no Tama.

The jewel was a curse, she thought as she fingered the jewel in her hands.

Then suddenly before she could react to the welcoming aura she had fallen. She noticed, confused, that there was blood on her hands. She looked over to the Shikon no Tama on the grass floor and reached for it but then her hand is crushed under a bare foot.

"Inu...Yasha?" His smirk she'll always remember. It was evil and cruel it didn't fit his face as if it could spread to his hairline just to grin wider. It was full of hate she could not bare.

"Thanks for the jewel now I can become a full fledge demon." And as she bled from the wound so deep he sped off. She manage to pull herself from the ground and walk slowly yet fast after him. At the god tree he stood. His back turned then he must have noticed her for he turned around.

So innocent he looked a smile making it's way to his face... that is till he saw her arrow.

"InuYasha!" She shouted the pain inside making the physical pain hurt even worse. What had she done wrong to deserve this? Her heart broken. She was betrayed.

She released her arrow.

However she could not kill him but only seal him for she still loved him and her power weak.

"Ki...Kikyo?" He fell into a slumber and she fell to the dirt covered earth.

"Lady Kikyo!" Her sister shouted and she gave her the jewel she hated so much.

"Take this Kadea and burn it with my body." She fell onto her side then. Bitterly she thought-

I die by the one I love hands, to have experience love and hate for the same person before she was free. Because the jewel. She have never wanted it! Never!

How ironic that duty always came first.

Although she was happy.

She died and known love.


AN: I know many don't like Kikyo but what can I say? I decided to write Kikyo before she was brought back to life because I could never in words capture the Kikyo after her death. I think no one can. Kikyo is far more complex after her death. Never to my knowlege has Kikyo ever hated the demon part of InuYasha never was she disgusted or thought of him lowly and that is why I wrote the reasons she wanted him human. I know that Kikyo had to love InuYasha because there love was never one-silded. Kikyo is just like a saying- actions speak louder then words.
