Running
She ran frantically down a cold dark ally. “I have to get away; I can't let them find me.” The young women kept running blindly thru darkened roads. The icy rain pelted her bruised body making her muscles burn like wildfire, but she could no longer feel the pain; fear and adrenalin had consumed her entire being and now her only thoughts were of escape.
“Over here! She went this way!” She heard them. They were gaining on her. Shivers ran thru her tiny frame, partially due to the cold, partially due to her fear. She knew full well that they were demons, did she really think she could fool them?! She kept running preying to kami that she would somehow loose them and finally gain her freedom.
Freedom…
She could feel them getting closer. She knew that their speed and strength was something she could not compete with even if she was in perfect shape…so why did she continue to run…it would only make it worse for her in the end…'…freedom…' that little word was the only reminder she needed.
Their yokai was now suffocating her and she was having troubles concentrating, breathing, seeing... She turned down a side road but didn't realize it was a dead end...until it was too late.
She spun around to face her chasers, her long black hair stuck to her face yet she made no effort to brush it away, she knew what was coming and did not need to see. She braced for the worse. A powerful clawed hand made contact with her chest and she was thrown back in to a concrete wall.
Her body hit the wall with a bone crushing thud; she wasn't given the time to fall to the ground before another hand ripped her up and smacked her into an adjacent wall. The young woman's head was spinning; she could taste the warm metallic flavor of her own blood in her mouth.
Her body screamed for the pain to stop. She was slammed to the ground by one of her pursuers. She could feel them beating her; hear them tearing her clothes and hear them hollering to the other men surrounding her.
`I never should have tried escaping…' was the last thing she remembered thinking before being surrounded in darkness.
