InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Demon Games ❯ We Have Guests ( Chapter 1 )
Yay! My first fic ever! If all goes well with the first chapter, you can be expecting quite a few more over the course of a short time. Also, I'm trying hard to get the personalities of the InuYasha characters down so I hope I'm not too bad with them. Enjoy!

We Have Guests
The young demon daughter of Lord Kyoudai sighed as she walked gracefully along the path that was leading to home. Her long sea green tresses swayed gently as the hem of her white kimono skimmed the ground. Stopping to look at the large house, Shigo looked up and pulled a lock of soft sea green hair behind her pointed ears.
"Shigo-sama!" came her servant's meek voice.
"Nani?" she replied as her soft lavender eyes came to rest on the servant's face.
"Lord Kyoudai wishes to speak with you," the servant replied with a small nod.
"Alright," Shigo said with a groan as she followed the servant into the well furnished home.
Shigo and the servant walked down a long gold hallway and came to a pair of tall oak double-doors. The servant pulled them open and Shigo entered, walking forward to approach her father.
Kyoudai sighed as he stared at his daughter for a moment, and then he began to speak. "My daughter, tomorrow is your 16th birthday. You're growing up so fast. It seems like only yesterday your mother was running into my room telling me of the good news that she was pregnant," he began with a chuckle.
Shigo smiled as he spoke. She loved her father very much and had been looking forward to this exact birthday for as long as she could remember. Tomorrow she would be able to marry, and she had someone in mind.
Once Kyoudai finished, he just smiled and held out his arms to give Shigo a hug. She walked up to him and put her arms around him.
"And tonight we will have the celebration," Kyoudai said as he let Shigo go.
Shigo smiled even more. Excitement was welling up inside of her. She loved celebrations. With the dancing, the food and getting to hang out with all of her friends whom, because of the war going on between the North Eastern lands and the South Eastern lands, Shigo hadn't seen for weeks.
"Go prepare, it begins at nightfall," Kyoudai said just as a servant entered the room.
"My apologies for interrupting sir, but Lady Reiji is here," the servant said as a young woman came to stand beside him.
Shigo glared as her eyes switched over to her sister. They hated each other and no matter what was said they always got into a fight.
"Hello sister," Reiji said with a bored voice as she moved her black bangs out of her eyes with a graceful motion.
"Hey," Shigo replied through clenched teeth. She couldn't believe she would have to put up with Reiji at her celebration! How could her father do this to her? He knew how much they hated each other. And after Reiji going to South Eastern lands to be with their half-brother. Shigo thought of Reiji as a traitor, and she always would.
"Be nice you two. You may dislike each other but you still are related," Kyoudai said as he watched his daughters. After a moment, he sighed. "Servant, be ready to greet Meikun and Toukan at the door and then take Reiji to her room," Kyoudai said as he glanced over at the male servant standing beside Reiji.
"Meikun and Toukan are coming too?" Shigo asked. Kyoudai nodded.
Shigo smiled. All anger towards Reiji was gone and now the excitement was coming back. Meikun was the eldest of Kyoudai's children. Shigo and her were great friends, especially with the horrible relationships that the children of Kyoudai had towards each other.
Shigo waited for Reiji and the servant to leave before she did. As she strode down the hallway a wave of tiredness came upon her. Sighing, she decided she would sleep for a while.
Hours later Shigo awoke to dimming light streaming in through her window. "Damn!" she exclaimed as she jumped out of bed. Rushing, Shigo grabbed a special kimono and began undressing. She slipped on the kimono and grabbed a hairbrush. The kimono was silver with small Sakuras climbing up the sleeves. Two slits on the kimono ran from her hips down to the hem and the neckline was v-shaped. After minutes of trying to fix her hair she got frustrated and just left it down. Her hair didn't look very bad, it looked silky and its length reached her waist. But when Shigo went to celebrations, she usually had her hair done up specially.
A knock was heard on her door and she opened it slowly and gracefully, acting as if she'd been getting ready for hours.
"Toukan!" she exclaimed as she realized who it was. Shigo rushed forward and put her arms around his neck. She hadn't seen him in two years and missed him greatly.
Toukan laughed and gave her a hug in return. His hair was long, reached to his waist, and it was black. His eyes were a blue/gray and his skin was slightly tanned from being outside, but its natural color was pale.
After a few minutes of talking the two walked down the hallway and into the entrance room of the palace, where the celebration was being held.
Shigo gazed at all the people here. She knew them all by name except…who're they? Shigo wondered as she stared at a man in a black and purple outfit and another in what looked like a red kimono, except it was different in quite a few ways.
"Toukan, who are those two men over there?" Shigo asked as she pointed towards the pair.
"I just met them. The one in the red is Lord Sesshoumaru's half-brother, Inuyasha. I had expected him to be a lord of some kind but it turns out he was invited personally by father because of his relations with Lord Sesshoumaru. The other man is Miroku, a monk. He is a friend of Inuyasha's and was also asked to come along," Toukan explained.
Shigo nodded slowly, letting the information settle in. She then switched her gaze to three women, one woman she knew. "And who are those two girls?" Shigo asked as she stared at Reiji's fake happy face.
"Kagome and Sango. Sango is a demon slayer and Kagome is a priestess," Toukan replied as he watched the three girls talk even though he couldn't hear them.
"Well, I guess I best go greet them," Shigo said with a sigh. She got a small nod from Toukan and then she was off. Walking elegantly over to the men, she smiled welcomingly.
"Hello Lord Inuyasha, Lord Miroku. My name is Shigo, daughter of Kyoudai son of Ruuiden," she said with a small bow. She called them `lord' because that was how she addressed all strangers whom were high class enough to be talked to by her father. Kyoudai rarely ever talked to anyone and to have two men who didn't look very rich to be invited to a huge but private celebration personally by her father…it was odd and she felt like she naturally respected them.
Inuyasha just grunted, muttering a `hey', clear he didn't want to be here and that he really didn't know why he was. "Hello Lady Shigo, my name is Miroku. Would you consider bearing my children?" Miroku replied with his flirting smile.
Shigo slapped him across the face, sternly but gently. A few people turned to see what was going on but soon continued what they had been doing before. Miroku rubbed his cheek with a nervous grin as Shigo stalked away, over to Kagome, Reiji and Sango.
"Hello. My name is Shigo," she said, a bit tensely with a bow. Shigo cleared her throat and let out a sigh, relaxing a bit.
"Hi! I'm Kagome and this is Sango," Kagome replied sweetly as she pointed to Sango.
Shigo smiled and turned to Reiji. "Father wants you to meet the guests," she lied. Shigo just wanted to speak to the girls alone, without having to deal with Reiji saying the exact opposite of what Shigo did.
Reiji shrugged. "Fine, later," she replied, giving Shigo a small glare as she walked away.
"Shigo? Why were we invited here tonight?" Kagome asked. She was wearing her school uniform and she looked very out of place. Her face held confusion but kindness as she stood there.
"I don't exactly know why but I'm guessing it has something to do with Lord Inuyasha being the half-brother of Lord Sesshoumaru. My father understands that they don't like each other but he still wishes to speak to Lord Inuyasha about what he does know about Lord Sesshoumaru," Shigo replied. Her voice was businesslike. She wasn't friendly and didn't plan on making friends with this joyful girl.
"Alright," Kagome said after a small giggle.
"What's so funny?" Shigo asked.
"Just the way you call Inuyasha `lord' and the fact that he's attending a party of royals with one of the most important lords in the world and all about his brother," Kagome replied, smiling.
Instead of rolling her eyes and saying something rude, Shigo just waved her hand to get a servant over here. "Take Kagome and Sango up to their rooms," she said sternly. The servant nodded and began walking away from the celebration, Kagome and Sango following,
After watching them leave, Shigo decided to go find one of her friends. But before she even looked for five minutes, she spotted Reiji flirting. Shigo was angry. Reiji always did this! What a horrible girl. Reiji lead guys on and then ditched them like they were old toys that she grew out of.
Shigo strode over, maintaining elegance but you could tell she was hurrying. "Reiji, Jouka needs to speak with you," she said, lying once more.
"Oh please, that rat?" Reiji replied as she rolled her eyes. "I'd much rather stay and talk with Inuyasha," Reiji said with a devious smile.
Shigo turned her head to give Reiji one of her famous death glares. Her lavender eyes flashed black very quickly and then returned to soft lavender. Reiji understood this. She gave Inuyasha a pouting look and sulked off.
"Tch. What's her problem?" Inuyasha said in his usual jerk voice.
Shigo cleared her throat, demanding their attention. Once their eyes were on her she pointed down the hall with a slender finger. "You will follow me down that hallway to your rooms. There you will sleep until morning and then once you can leave your room I will come and have you follow me to where you will eat breakfast. While we eat, I will explain things," she said.
"And what makes you think we'll obey? I got things to do. I can't just hang around all day waiting to talk about my half-brother," Inuyasha said. He put emphasis on `half-brother' to make sure Shigo knew he didn't like him.
"You'll be staying by force if you don't comply. You are strong with Tetsuiga, I know that, Lord Inuyasha. But I also know that you've tried in the past to kill your brother and you have not succeeded. I just want you to know that my father is about as strong as Lord Sesshoumaru. And if you add the other Youkai lords that have visited tonight you will notice they are almost as strong as Lord Sesshoumaru. So adding them all together I highly doubt you would succeed in an escape," Shigo replied sternly, her hangs behind her back.
Inuyasha snorted but Miroku chuckled. "Guess we'll have to stay then," Miroku said, smiling.
