Chapter 9- Breaking the Spell

 

Kikyo sat in the odd building that Naraku lived in, on the outside it looked like a plain business building, but on the inside it resembled an old temple, and Kikyo was currently sitting in one of the rooms, twisting the engagement ring that Kakeromoro had given her around her finger.

 

And she sat in deep thought about her sister, she had appeared as Miko two times to her sister, trying to train her so that she could defeat Naraku, but it had failed, Naraku had forbidden Kikyo to go out now.

 

`I won't let him kill my sister…I'll break his neck before he gets near her.' Kikyo grabbed her bow and walked out of the room she had confined herself to and walked towards Naraku's ugly presence.

 

He sat on the floor with his hand perched on his knee, he seemed amused that Kikyo had shown up to see him, but she was to pissed of to notice that his eyes had turned their unusual red, they usually turned that color when he was going to control someone.

 

“Naraku! Understand this and understand well…if you so much as dare think of hurting my sister I will personally make sure that your blood stains my bow!” she hissed at him, a scowl placed on her face, he smirked.

 

“Heh. Pathetic fool…do not forget that I still have your soul and that your threats are insane. I can't be stopped!” he laughed, before his aura pulsed and his pupils went completely red.

 

Kikyo gasped as her soul began to escape her, her bow clattered to the ground and she fell to the ground, she glared up at Naraku through her bangs before her eyes went blank and she was under his control again.

 

“Remember…I can kill you if you defy me. Sesshomaru, find that Seeker and bring me her soul.” a figure outside the door bowed before he disappeared, inside Kikyo's mind she screamed in anger, but on the outside she remained calm.

Kagome ran, she hadn't transformed back into Seeker, she had to get Sesshomaru and Kikyo out from under Naraku's control before she became Seeker, she ran through the shield and gasped, she was in some sort of garden and she stumbled back when Sesshomaru appeared before her suddenly.

 

He was looking at her with his blank eyes and the red aura surrounded his being, but something was off, although Kagome couldn't put her finger on it, she jumped as he attacked with his claws, he was attacking slower, as though he didn't want to harm her.

 

“Sesshomaru…you're….” she trailed off as he looked at her, she realized the life was flickering in and out of his eyes, as though he finally breaking away from Naraku. Kagome walked up to where she was only a few feet away.

 

“Naraku is strong…prepare yourself, or you might find yourself in my position.” he said and then he seemed to lose the battle and went back under Naraku's control, Kagome screamed as the whip that he sometimes used knocked her back into a wall, but she dodged the next attack, she reached in her pockets, searching desperately for the Shikon jewel, she found it finally as she had to jump.

 

“Sesshomaru!! Listen to me…you can't stay under his control! You're not meant to be like this! Think of Inuyasha and your mum and dad…think of Meka….think of Rin!” she cried as she turned to look at him, he suddenly stopped, and his eyes began to gain life, he groaned as he fell to the ground, his clothes changing back into street clothes before he hit.

 

Kagome put the jewel back into her back before running to him and helping him sit up as he gained consciousness; she smiled as he put a hand to his head.

 

“Thank god, you're okay…Inuyasha and the others are probably near my apartment…please go to them.” she said pushing him towards the barrier.

 

“What about you?” he asked, she smiled at him before she turned away.

 

“I have to save Kikyo…please, Sesshomaru, don't mention anything about me to Inuyasha…he hates me because he holds me responsible for your disappearance…” she sighed, she felt him hug her from behind, like he was her brother as well.

 

“He shouldn't…it is not your fault…is Kyatoka alright?” he asked as he let go, Kagome blinked and looked up at him wondering why he would suddenly bring up a junior that she had only met once or twice.

 

“I guess…why? OH!” she laughed as his cheeks turned a bright red, so he wasn't as heartless as she had previously thought.

 

“Kagome, Kikyo is still under Naraku's control…she's no doubt waiting for you up there….I'll be waiting with the others.” he bowed curtly in Sesshomaru fashion before walking out through the shield.

 

`I hope I can find her…Naraku's presence is overwhelming my miko abilities, I can't sense anything beyond myself, I feel like I'm walking blindly on a snake's body.' she thought and then Kikyo's presence broke through Naraku's.

 

Kagome found herself suddenly staring at her sister, the eyes and aura giving away the fact that she was indeed as Sesshomaru had said, still under Naraku's control, and it didn't look like she was fighting it.

 

Kagome stood there, wondering if she really could fight her sister, Naraku had set the trap up perfectly that much was for certain, and Kagome had two choices, to walk away and abandon her sister, or to jump in and hope that she didn't get herself fried to a crisp.

 

Kikyo was an excellent archer, Kagome knew that, but she didn't want the proof to be sticking out of her heart, and so she made her choice.
