The next morning Inu Yasha woke bright and early. He stared into the pitch blackness of the room. `God, what time is it?' he thought as he rubbed the sleepiness out of his eyes. `Well, at least this gives me time to think before Kagome wakes up.' And with that Inu Yasha crawled out of his sleeping bag and pulled on his cloths.
Outside was cool and dark with the slightest sliver of golden light peeking over the mountains. Inu Yasha took off at lightning speed letting his eyes adjust as he went. The cool dew soothed his aching feet as he ran through the grass.
`Now,' he thought `Where to go?' He peered around his surroundings hoping to find just the right spot where it would be peaceful and there would be no disruptions. As he turned his head to the right he noticed a golden reflection off the lake. "Perfect," he said in an almost silent whisper.
From there Inu Yasha took to the trees jumping gracefully and silently from one to another. Not even the birds were up yet. At last he came to a big oak overlooking the waters' edge. He plopped down on a strong branch. He sighed, then decided to shift positions and turned over on his stomach with on of his arms hanging over.
A small smile creped across the youkai's face. Looking down at the water he remembered the day that he not so accidentally saw Kagome bathing. `God that woman is beautiful,' he thought. For a while he just sat there thinking of the young miko.
Then again she really pissed him off. Like last night for instance when she repeatedly demanded him to sit and threatened him to go to the tournament. Who the hell does she think she is threatening me anyways!? On one hand Kagome did have a point that they would collect the shards much faster that way, but on the other hand he didn't really care how fast they collected them. Come to think of it the faster they collected the shards the sooner she would have to leave. He wasn't quite sure if that was what he wanted yet though.
But today Inu Yasha was in a jack-ass mood and the more he thought about it the more it seemed like the best idea was the sooner she left the better off he would be. From there on he decided it would be a good idea to go to that stupid tournament and just get it over with. He didn't have to participate anyway he could just be a spectator. "Keh," he said as he climbed out of the tree. I might as well go then.
Down on the ground he noticed the sun was nearly fully risen and realized he better start heading back to the cabin. Slowly he started the walk back for breakfast. He could smell it from where he was. Somebody was making ham. `The only good thing about that old hag is that she can cook,' Inu Yasha told himself as he neared the village…

At Sesshomarou-Same's fortress in the western lands
A letter arrived on the marble entrance of Sesshomarou's castle the next morning. He had already been up much earlier patrolling his territories and thought to leave it until he was ready for the news of the Demon Tournament. The letter reeked of ninja demon and he could tell that was what the contents of the letter was about.
Two and a half hours later the demon returned to his mansion and unwillingly decided to open the letter. He bent over and picked up the parchment and briskly took it inside. From there he went to the den where a fire was already crackling happily. It was nearing autumn and the weather was starting to get cold. The flames reflected off the golden orbs of his eyes as he opened the paper.
Quickly he scanned through the words, plopped down on a comfortable fur couch, and threw the parchment on a table beside him. "So this year it's being held in the northern lands is it?" he questioned himself. `What a hassle it is to go so far away only to regain his land again and have to kill worthless demons for no good reason. With a sigh Sesshomarou leaned his head back to think.
"I just hope Inu Yasha doesn't show up," and from there that was all he could think about. From how stupid his brother was, to wondering how he could get such a great companion who was indeed lovely. "What the hell am I thinking?" he questioned himself. "I will never be attracted to a useless human," Immediately he cleared the thought out of his mind and went to wake Rin.

Back in Kaede's cabin at the village
"Thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you!!" Kagome squeaked throwing her arms around Inu Yasha.
"Yea, well, I figure the sooner we find the shards the faster you can leave," he replied matter-o-factly.
"Well I still think it's very non-self-absorbed of you to help me out by doing this," Kagome said. A small grin spread across Lady Kaede's face as she finished serving out breakfast while making sure to save some for Shippou, whom was still asleep.
"And don't get used to it ether," Inu Yasha added.
Finally Kagome released her grasp on the youkai and sat there looking at her with a huge, beautiful smile on her face highlighting her navy blue eyes. `I still can't believe he's doing this for me,' she thought.
"What are you staring at?!" Inu Yasha said in a `I'm trying to be tough voice'.
"Nothing."
"Whatever," he said and then began to scarf down his food.
Kagome also began to eat her food. Kaede watched the young ones. `I just can't tell if Inu Yasha really loves Kagome for her, or just the part of Kikyo,' and with that thought she too began to eat breakfast.

Author's Note
Hey yall! Thank you soooooooo much for reading my fic and a special thank to you who reviewed. I love getting reviews and please tell me if I can do anything to improve. Well, I'm really sorry that I couldn't update my fic for a long while, but please just bear with me. I haven't had much spare time lately. As you may know I was visiting my dad in P.A and the day after that school started, and between that, homework, and the hockey season coming up I just didn't have any time until now. (And no, I'm not a boy. My brother just got me hooked on roller hockey and I had try-outs this previous weekend.) Anyway I just wanna say thanks to all you guys reading my fic! Ummmmmm, did I say that already??
That is totally awesome for all of the people reading A Demon Should Act Like A Demon! Ya, I know that it's a crummy title, but it's a killer story and you have to read it! That is pretty much the story that made me wanna start my own fic anyway. Some of the chapters take a long while to get posted but they are worth it, trust me.
