From her eyes, tears fell onto his face. Thinking quickly, Rin tore off a part of her sleeve and pressed it against the gash. She kissed the reddening cloth and looked all across the roof for some sort of exit. It gladdened her to spot a door on the far side of the roof. Without hesitation, she rushed over to it and tugged on the knob, but it was locked. A wave of disappointment rushed through her as she pulled, kicked, and slammed the door trying to get it open.

"Dammit, open!" she shouted. Finally, her energy diminished and she slammed both fist against the solid door then slid down it, weeping quietly. She knew she had to get it open somehow. She scanned the roof again and decided to try barraging the door with the rubble from the hole Sesshou had made. Rin stood and rushed over to the pile, and unfortunately her foot caught a stray rock.

Rin tumbled forward with aid from the strong breeze. She rolled a few times before screaming when she spun over the edge of the roof. Luckily, her reflexes allowed her to wrap her hands around the edge before it was too late. Despite how many times she told herself not to, Rin looked down and was faced with the horrible sight of being what seemed like miles above the bustling city below. She clenched her eyes shut and yelled out for help. So there she was; dangling over a hundred floors above the ground, her boyfriend unconscious and bleeding, and no one to save her.

"No! Why is this happening to me?" she wailed. "Everything was going so great. I had finally found my prince, we were planning to live together in his cozy place, I'm not alone anymore, and we were going to have a wonderful life together. And now I'm going to die. The world is against me!"

Her rantings halted when she heard the bang of a steel door. Rin could here the sound of footsteps over the concrete roof. She figured if she had a chance to live, this was it. And she wasn't going to waste it.

"Hey, over here! Help, I'm going to fall! Please, please, help me!"

A wave of hope filled her when the person on the roof could be heard rushing her direction.

"What the hell? It's you!" sad the voice when he looked over. Rin stared into the eyes of a Chinese man with a topknot and rather sheen hair. The man's white robe was waving furiously in the strong wind. It was then she realized who he was.

"Wufei! I'm so glad it's you! Please, help me up!" Rin gushed. Wufei didn't hesitate when grabbing Rin's wrist and heaving her up onto the rooftop.

As soon as she was safely on the roof, Rin scurried to Sesshou's side. Wufei was close behind and bent down next to her.

"Come on. We should get him inside," Wufei informed. Wufei scooped the limp Sesshou into his arms and ran toward the closed door. Rin was about to speak up how the door must be locked, but she thought again when Wufei simply raised his foot and slammed the door open. Rin ran after them down the stairs.

After a few flights of stairs, Rin followed Wufei into the hall of his apartment. Lucky for them it was a penthouse so they hadn't had to run far. When she entered the main living room she was taken back for a moment by the splendor of it. The walls were red and had different decorations hanging about and around. Most of them consisted of various forms of Chinese-related décor (some of the antiques looked over a thousand years old).

Once the overall shock of the room had passed, Rin jogged down another hall where Wufei had gone. She located them in a beautiful guest room decorated with lovely paintings and blue silks. It looked like it once belonged to someone a long time ago. The room seemed much to elegant to simply be a guest room. Besides, if Wufei was anything like Sesshou then he probably never had guests over.

Wufei tore off the silk covers of the bed and laid Sesshou on it. He looked over him quickly then up to Rin.

"He should be fine, but some of these cuts could become serious. I'll go get some first aid supplies, you stay here," he instructed. Rin simply nodded her head and watched Wufei stride out of the room. She pulled a chair up to Sesshou's bedside and looked down at him. It could be assumed that the gash on his forehead had stopped bleeding, since the cloth she had put there wasn't becoming any redder.

Rin was distracted for a moment by a picture on the dresser across the room. It was a photo of two younger people. One was a young Wufei dressed in handsome expensive robes. The other was a youthful girl dressed in exquisite wedding robes. Rin noted that neither of them looked very pleased. It struck her as odd to see Wufei in a wedding photo. He just didn't seem like the kind of guy who would…marry someone.

Wufei came in a minute later carrying the first aid supplies. Rin turned back to him and smiled a thank you. Then, being the curious person she was, she decided to quench her curiosity about the wedding photo.

"I don't mean to be bold, but who's that girl in the wedding robes along side you? In the photo on the dresser," she pondered. Wufei looked at the photo then continued laying out the first aid supplies.

"Nataku," he claimed. Rin wasn't exactly satisfied by this answer, but she could tell by his flat voice that it must be a sore subject so she prodded no further.

"I have to go tend to something. You may tend to Sesshou. Oh, and yes, I do expect an explanation when Sesshou is well."

Once Wufei was gone, Rin grabbed a warm towel he had left and removed the makeshift bandage from Sesshou head. She gently stroked the towel along his face wiping off the blood. Both her mood and her face were somber. The blood came off easily so she moved on to bandaging his head. After applying some disinfectant to the gash on his brow, she carefully padded some gauze on it, and then secured it with white medical tape.

It took much of her strength to hold back her tears. While dabbing the disinfecting on his smaller cuts and bruises, Rin felt guilty of Sesshou's injuries. He had received them while protecting her. If he had never met her then none of this would have ever happened. Unable to hold back the tears anymore, Rin laid down on Sesshou's chest and wept.

"Oh, Sesshou. I'm so sorry. I don't deserve your forgiveness. This is all my fault. You should never had met me," Rin sobbed. A cool hand rested on her head so that she stopped her sobbing.

"No, Rin," Sesshou's voice was dry. "If I'd never met you then I would've spent my entire life searching for that one thing that was missing. So that until I grew old and died, I'd be dreaming and searching for that one wonderful woman I had never met. Nothing…nothing could keep us apart."

Rin looked up and saw a small grin on Sesshou's lips. She smiled, too, and gently put her arms around his shoulders. She admitted to herself that if she had never met Sesshou she would also spend all her days searching for him.

"Then I'm so glad we found each other," she agreed. Sesshou's nimble fingers stroked her hair affectionately, and they found strength in each other.
