“Hey Miroku, shouldn't we be heading to Bone Eater's Well?” Sango called to the blue clothed monk. He opened his eyes to look at her.

“Is it sunset already?” The monk got up with a sigh, “Such a glorious day too, without Inuyasha's moping.”

“Inuyasha wasn't moping,” A red haired fox demon with a brown tail scampered up to Miroku. “He's just upset about all the demons running around since Nuraku showed up.”

“Yes, and he'll be even more upset if we don't meet them at the well like we promised.” Sango said looking at the setting sun, “So let's get going”.
=======

“Are you sure you have everything?” Kagome's mother said as Inuyasha stuffed packets of ramen into Kagome's bag. “Clean clothes, First-Aid, Food, Soap?”

“I'm sure Mom,” Kagome said patiently, “Inuyasha weren't you the one making the big deal about being on time?”

Inuyasha pushed the last packets down and, with much effort, zipped the bag shut. “It only took me a few seconds, not a whole day.” He snorted with disdain, “You humans need so much stuff to survive I'm surprised you even bother going outside.”

`Well excuse us for not all being hard headed hanyous' Kagome thought pulling her heavy yellow backpack away from Inuyasha. Out loud she said her goodbyes to her family, “See ya, Gramps, Mom, Souta!” She shouldered her pack, “Come on Inuyasha, we don't want to keep Miroku and the others waiting.”

“Since when do you care?” Inuyasha muttered letting Kagome climb onto his back. He peeked out of the door, making sure the Higurashi's had not unexpected visitors. Seeing no one he began to run at incredible speeds normal for any hanyou. He cleared the wall of the well without breaking stride and jumped to meet the blue flash within.
=======

A blue flash glowed behind the body of a kitsune, happily gamboling on the edge of Bone Eater's well. The young fox turned around with a squeak of joy, “Kagome, your back!” He jumped into the arms of the girl snuggling against her chest, “I'd thought you never come home! You were gone almost seven days!”

“Shippo we told you we'd be gone for that long. There wasn't any reason to worry.” Kagome smiled and slipped a lollipop out of her bag. “Here you go, I promised I'd bring you some candy.” Shippo wasted no time in grabbing the food, and trotting off with the lollipop in his mouth.

“Sango,” Kagome turned to address the slayer, “ How are your wounds healing? I brought some medicine from my world but Inuyasha told me you were almost well already…” The two girls began to walk away talking and smiling while discussing what to use.”

Miroku finally looked up from his seat against a tree. “Inuyasha, since Kagome is back I presume we are to continue our search for shards?” The hanyou nodded, “God because I've heard some interesting rumors, apparently theirs a demon out that lives on the blood of small children, growing more powerful by the day as well.”

“Any signs of a jewel shard?”

“No but plenty of victims, and it's getting closer to the village then I like. The last sighting was two days ago, less then a days worth from here.”

The hanyou turned to face the forest, “I'm going to give Kagome a day to check on Sango. If she's able to travel by then we'll go and track down the demon. I don't want her wounds opening up…” `And then I'll track down Tetsuya and kill him,' He thought and smiled, `Nuraku's getting too cocky, time to show him who he's dealing with.'
=======

Nuraku smiled into Kanna's mirror, delighting in the pain his newest creation was causing. `The perfect thing to lure Inuyasha from his village,' he thought savoring the look of terror on the faces of villagers, `and once he comes out the real fun begins.'

“Kagura.” He called for another of his incarnations and a woman stepped in, beautiful except for the blood red pupils that seemed to glow. Her face seemed twisted into an expression that was half pain half fury as she glared at him.

“I want you to fly into the mountains near the western borders. The will be a strong barrier covering one, broken statues will cover the path to its summit.” He closed his eyes; tracing the route he had taken in his younger life…his human life.

“At the end of the path there will be one statue that is whole. Leave this there.” He handed her of the Sacred Jewel, a sword, and a clear jar filled with red powder. The woman, Kagura, turned to leave and a whirlwind appeared where she had stood.

Nuraku turned back to the mirror to watch the slaughter as a village tried to save their youngster. “Revenge is so sweet,” he smiled at the thought, `So sweet…'
