Chapter Seven: Illusions part two

 

 

“Lokelani?”

 

 

It hadn't been more than a few minutes since the comb had broken, but Lokelani had sat there the entire time, staring at it. The look on her face was complete and utter heartbreak, her dual orbs filled to brimming with tears. Her face has gone ghostly pale, the barest of trembles in her lips. Finally, she'd raise her eyes to look at him. Her hands rose to cradle the comb to her chest, a wince given as her illusion shattered into two pieces.

 

 

“Dada gave me these combs on my fifth birthday.....He....he called me his little hanyou rose...What am I going to do Inuyasha? I've gotta fix my comb!” She'd whisper.

 

 

“Come on Lokelani....its not that bad to be hanyou.... Maybe I can take the combs back with me and see if Totosai can fix it.”

 

 

“You'd do that for me?” She'd look up at him, hope evident in every feature of her body, from the tilt of her head, to the clasp of her hands.

 

 

“Keh. It aint nothing wench.”

 

 

“Inuyasha!! Where are you???”

 

 

Lokelani gasped, before standing and taking off into the darkness once more. No sooner did she disappeared, did Kagome burst through the trees, panting heavily from having followed Inuyasha. He'd stand and slip his hands into the sleeves of his hoari, staring still in the direction Lokelani fled.

 

 

“Shouldn't you be nicer to Lokelani? I mean, you don't know what hanyou go through....the cruelty of the world that is against them.” he'd mutter slightly.

 

 

“Mind your own business, Inuyasha! She could have told me!”

 

 

“Would you have reacted any differently?”

 

 

“I....Shut up Inuyasha!” Growling despite herself, Kagome would turn and start tromping back towards the house. Inuyasha followed at a slower pace for once, stopping just one time to look in the direction Lokelani left in. He knew by the scents in the area that she'd backtracked and was probably at the house at this moment. He just hoped the two girls would come to an agreement...They hurt his ears.

 

 

Meanwhile, Lokelani was throwing on a pair of gloves to hide her claws. Akira sat on her bed, waiting for the girl to speak first. She'd shake her head as she watched Lokelani set a cap over her ears, wincing as she did so.

 

 

“Ow...my ears...” whined the girl.

 

 

“Couldn't you fold them down and cover them with your hair?”

 

 

“Not really, no...”

 

 

Lokelani would send her Aunt a smile before slipping a pair of sunglasses over her eyes before modeling for Akira. She'd changed into a black leather miniskirt and take top. Her boots, and elbow length gloves completed the change. She snarled as first Inuyasha then Kagome's filled her room.

 

 

“Lookin good, Lokelani” Inuyasha laughed.

 

 

“Thanks. I'm going to go out to talk to someone around here about a charm for you. I'll need a few strands of hair, some blood and possibly a fang.” She'd reply, tossing a stopped vial at him from her backpack.

 

 

“Okay. Want to give me your combs so I can take them to Totosai to be fixed?” He'd reply, holding out his hand for them.

 

 

“What?! You're helping her?” Kagome cried.

 

 

“Of course, one of us has to!! If you wont help her, I will. I'm a hanyou, Kagome, and hanyou stick together.”

 

 

“Nevermind Inuyasha. I'll ask the person I'm going to see if they can fix my combs. There's no need to create a gap between you and Kagome.” Lokelani replied, shaking her head slightly. “Just get me the hair, blood and fang so I can leave, please.”

 

 

Inuyasha snorted before reaching up to tug some hair from his head. Opening the vial with his teeth, he'd shove the hair inside before slipping a hand into his mouth to pull out a fang. It too went into the vial, followed by some blood he let dribble inside before stopping the hole with his tongue. The vial would be tossed back to Lokelani, which she slipped into her bag.

 

 

“Ill be back in a few hours.” with that she took off out the window, not the door, and into the streets of Tokyo.

 

 

Akira got off the bed, and shaking her head slipped quietly from the room. She'd stop in the hallway to comment, “I don't think Lokelani would want you in her home while she's gone Kagome.”

 

 

Several hours later, Lokelani still hadn't returned. Akira, Gramps and Inuyasha sat at the door all worried. Kagome was upstairs studying for her test the next day. It wasn't much past midnight when Lokelani's slender shadow moved through the shrine gates. Akira and Gramps had long retired to bed, leaving Inuyasha as lookout for the girl. He was surprised when she went to the well house instead of her apartments. Following her, he was glad she left the door open so he could sneak in behind her.

 

 

“What are you doing??” he said, crossing his arms.

 

 

Lokelani screamed, and teetered on her perch. The edge of the well...Inuyasha cursed, grabbing the girl by the back of the neck. After gaining her balance, she'd rest a hand over her heart, glaring at him with dual orbs snapping in anger.

 

 

“Don't sneak up on me like that!!!”

 

 

“Sneaky wench.”

 

 

“Idiot.”

 

 

“What are you two doing out here? Lokelani, you aren't going to sneak off to try and get to the Feudal Era, are you?”

 

 

Kagome stood in the well house doors, hands propped on her hips. Forgetting how she was sitting, Lokelani went to put her hands up to ward her cousin off. The wrong twist of her body sent her teetering backwards, arms flailing. Inuyasha tried to grab her again, but tripped over a loose board in the floors. With a muttered curse, he ended up pushing her instead. Inuyasha followed, as well as Kagome who had grabbed the back of Inuyasha's hoari. A blue light surrounded the trio, before they landed in a pile on the ground once more.

 

 

“Oh shit...” Inuyasha muttered.

 

 

“Are we?” Lokelani started.

 

 

“Great job, Loke....You better hope we're still at the shrine!” Kagome screamed, climbing out of the well.
