Chapter Eleven: Reflective Admirations
They'd been walking for hours without stopping or slowing. When Lokelani took her first glance of Feudal Japan in, it was the darkest of early morning. Now, the sun was setting casting flames over the skies. Her stomach gave a loud rumble, which cause the hanyou to blush to the roots of her hair. Sesshomaru cast her a glance over his shoulder before looking forward once more. She'd stick her tongue out at his back, before tip toeing towards a pear tree not ten feet to their left.
“If you do not keep up, I will leave you behind.”
At that she ran to quickly grab a ripe fruit from a low hanging branch before turning to catch up. She cast a glare at his shoulders before biting noisily into the pear, her lids fluttered closed as she licked the juice from her lips, then began chewing slowly. She gave a purr of contentment before biting into the pear once again. She ate loudly, uncaring about her mannerisms.
“Could you be any more disgusting?”
“Could you be any more an ass?”
“Excuse me?”
“I said, could you be any more an ass.”
“I heard that part....It is none of your business what I am.”
“Aye aye Captain!”
Her lips quirked until he turned to face her, a low snarl escaping his perfect lips. Dual orbs met golden, one in surprise the other in anger. She began to back up as he stalked forward, letting out a yelp of surprise as he grasped her chin roughly in his deadly claws. Her eyes widened as he lowered his face until it was inches away, those golden orbs of his were so hypnotizing....
“I am the Lord of the Western Lands, do not insult me. Do not question me. You are a worthless hanyou, something that is lower than the dirt beneath my feet. Do not speak to me for the rest of this journey, for I will surely kill you if I have to listen to your sickening voice any longer. Am I understood?”
Lokelani gave a short nod, the only thing his tightening grip would allow. A fine sheen of tears sparkled over her silver and golden orbs, though as she jerked from his grip defiantly, she let none fall. Tossing the pear husk aside, she'd resume walking, not even flinching as he blurred past her at a run. Sighing, she'd take off after him, tying her long tresses back as she ran.
Dusk fell upon the land, the moon rising to cast her silvery glow upon them two running through the forests. Exhaustion was etched in every detail of Lokelani's body. Finally she just collapsed onto her knees, panting heavily. Sesshomaru stopped, jut made no effort to go see if she was alright. He listened to her whimper softly, the shift of the grass. Lokelani's slender form passed him as she took off at a lope, but it wasnt long before he raced past her.
The land and night flew by in a blur. Finally an hour or two before sunrise, Sesshomaru came to a stop. He turned to let Lokelani know they could rest here, finding the girl collapsed beneath a tree. Shaking his head, Sesshomaru moved close enough to see if she was okay, before moving to a nearby tree to watch over the hanyou. A pair of glowing eyes appeared in the tree line, a demon intent on the female for one of two reasons. Food, or physical comfort. Sesshomaru leaned forward to growl at the demon, the growl growing into a smirk as the demon ignored him. Sesshomaru just sat back and watched the rat demon move over to sniff the hanyou girl, before looking away. He had no stomach to watch her be slaughtered.
High pitched squeals entered the sounds of the night air, followed by a dying scream. Sesshomaru turned quickly to see Lokelani crouched over the corpse of the rat, blood dripping from her claws. He stood and moved slowly over to her, almost stepping back at the wildness in her eyes. Such danger there....Ignoring that, he'd swing the girl up over his shoulder, a stinging slap to her behind given as she screamed and scratched at his back. He began walking away from the rising sun until he came to the familiar glade just outside his fortress. He'd dump Lokelani onto the bank and stand there smirking.
“Bathe.”
“I will not!”
“Bathe, hanyou. I'll not take you into my home like this, you stink!”
“I wont do iiiiieeeeeee!!!!!!”
She never got to finish her sentence. Sesshomaru grabbed the girl by her hair and literally tossed her into the freezing waters, clothing and all. He almost laughed outright at the sight of the girl sitting in the shallows. Her long tresses were plastered to her face and neck, giving a comical but lovely frame to her beet red face. Her white clothing had turned completely transparent and clung to sweet curves that hanyou should not possess....He ran into a brick wall there....Was he just thinking about her curves??? When Lokelani got up to plod out of the water, he'd push her right back in, smirking this time at the splash she made.
“Give it up girl. You are going to bathe.”
“I have no soap!”
“Use sand....”
He'd turned his back to her to give the girl privacy to undress. Those perfect male lips quirked as her shirt went sailing by his head, followed by her pants, and both her boots. He listened to her try to adjust so that the shallow water covered her breasts, a shake of his head given when she finally plopped down onto the sand beneath and scooped up a handful to start rubbing her skin with it.
“You have no grace....”
“Hmph. Im bathing here!”
That wasn't exactly true, he reflected. There was a natural grace with which she moved, even spoke. There was neither human nor demoness that could match the sway of her hips, the slow, lazy gait of her walk. They could not match the innocence that radiated from the girl who pretended otherwise They could not even match the tone of her voice, its husky rich sound....He wondered if her lips caressed every word she spoke. He'd seen her with the monk. He'd seen what she'd done to the monk. She was far different from his ignorant brother, for she seemed to have manners and intelligence. At least more than Inuyasha. Not many could have kept such a grueling pace without complaint, besides the mishap with the pear.
“We have to stop so my clothes can dry....please?”
Her voice broke through his abnormal thoughts, causing golden orbs to turn towards the half naked girl. He stared in wonder at the undergarments on her body, before coughing and turning his back to her. What was wrong with him? She was a mere hanyou, beneath his status...but why did he find himself thinking of her more and more often....Things were going to get interesting....Too bad he'd told Jaken that life was beginning to dull....
