A/N: sorry for the late update… I have been distracted because I'm in vacations, but anyway! I hope you enjoy this chapter, it's mostly about Inuyasha's past and it tells you a lot of it so I hope you enjoy this and review please!!! =)

“Still mad? I didn't do anything wrong…” Naraku said as they entered to Shinta's office.

 

“You bastard! You shot him and buried his body!!” Inuyasha wanted to hit him but Naraku pushed him.

 

“Inuyasha… is there a way in which you can at least not kill me? How about a card game?” he went to the desk and pulled out box of cards.

 

“Are you stupid?! You killed Shinta! Don't you know that if you didn't have half of his territory on your hands I would have killed you already?” he felt his heart heavy at the thought of that good man.

 

“No need to get violent, let's play poker… what are you going to bet?” he asked as he gave away the cards.

 

“How about this? If I win… you will turn to the police, let me keep your part of Shinta's territory and you will accomplish my requests” Inuyasha asked, feeling somehow that with that at least he would get revenge.

 

“Fine… but if I win I want your part of the territory, I want you working for me and I want to have your girlfriend for a week” he smiled wickedly and Inuyasha shook his head slowly.

 

“Kikyo? No, I won't put her in this”

 

“Hey, you asked for three things… and I'm asking for the same amount of things, think about this… you will win and I will be in jail, it will be everything you have ever wished of” Inuyasha thought of it for a second, he haven't always hated him.

 

“Not really” he sighed heavily and Naraku started tapping his fingers against the crystal table.

 

“I'm waiting” he said as he held that smile on his lips, Inuyasha kept on thinking and finally he let out a big sigh.

 

“Alright Naraku… start”

 

 

 

 

“Don't start now Inuyasha… we both came to rescue her, if it wasn't for me you would have never guessed she was here” Naraku said as the three of them walked down the street, Inuyasha rolled his eyes.

 

“I don't care who helped me… I'm just grateful” she said and hugged Inuyasha. “Um… thanks to you too Naraku”

 

“Why don't I have a hug? Or better yet a kiss…” he asked as he moved closer to her, she gulped and Inuyasha pulled him away from her.

 

“Get away from her” Naraku rolled his eyes and chuckled, he pulled out a box of cigarettes.

 

“Want one?” Inuyasha took one and light it up. “I see you still love the sweet smell and flavor of nicotine”

 

“Yeah… I think I should owe it all to you” he inhaled and heard someone coughing; he remembered that Kagome was still with them. “I'm leaving”

 

“I thought you will wait till Yura showed up” Naraku laughed and Inuyasha grabbed Kagome's hand.

 

“I'll take you home” she nodded and took one last look at Naraku.

 

Kagome looked at her wrist watch, it announced almost midnight and her mother surely will kill her. She sighed and decided to take care of that later, whatever her mom told her couldn't be worst than getting kidnapped for the second time. `Although if she already found out that I ran away from home, she's going to ground me forever…' she looked up at Inuyasha and sighed. `I don't care what happened tonight… being 5 minutes with him was worth all the troubles' she hooked her arm in his and he smiled. Just like Kagome, he was drowned in his thoughts; all these fights reminded him to his days of training. Shinta wanted him to one of his bodyguards and decided to teach him how to fight, after a few weeks in training Shinta made him fight his other bodyguard.

 

“Is that the best you got?” a fifteen year old boy asked him as Inuyasha cleaned the blood coming from his lip. “I don't think he's good enough sir”

 

“Give him time Naraku, Inuyasha… get up” he did as Shinta ordered and got up weakly, he clenched his fists and looked at Naraku with anger, Shinta laughed. “See? I told you he was worth my money… keep going”

 

Naraku gave him a wicked smile as he prepared to fight again, Inuyasha charged and ran towards him to hit him but Naraku easily dodged his attack. He wasn't expecting Inuyasha to spin his leg and throw him off his feet, Naraku got up before Inuyasha could try to kick him, this time he stroke him with his elbow and Inuyasha was thrown to the floor again, Naraku glared him with pity. Something inside Inuyasha woke up and he was back on his feet. Inuyasha started again and tried to hit him with his fists, Naraku grabbed one of his hands and gave him a twist, he quickly turned things around and Naraku was getting choked. The more he tried to get away from his grasp, the more breath he was lacking, Shinta laughed again and Inuyasha turned his attention to him.

 

“Brilliant, isn't he?” he asked and Inuyasha let go Naraku.

 

“He can be one heck of a killer if that's what you mean” he answered back as he tried to catch his breath.

 

“I have another task for him, a bigger goal” Shinta smiled.

 

“And what about me?” Naraku asked, suddenly feeling jealous.

 

“Don't worry, he's not going to take your place… he's going to work for me, as my errands boy”

 

“Inuyasha?” Naraku said with despise.

 

“Inuyasha?” Kagome's voice interrupted him from the memories of his past; he looked back at her and sighed.

 

“What's wrong?” he merely asked.

 

“Nothing, I just wanted to make sure you were back on earth” she giggled a little and he rolled his eyes.

 

“Why didn't you listen to me?” he asked. He remembered what had happened early at the alley, if only she would have listened to his words none of that would have happened. “You should have left when I told you to”

 

“I'm sorry… I just… I wanted to make sure you didn't get hurt, I hope that wasn't that horrible” he sighed and closed his eyes for a moment.

 

“It would have been if you got hurt… I'm trying to protect you but I can't if you try to change our roles” she looked away. “I didn't mean it to sound so mean but… I don't know what the fuck I would do even if someone dared to cut your finger with a piece of paper… I think… what I mean is that… you're very precious to me” she smiled and they both remained in silence again.

 

They were far away from her house. Very, very far away; the band of seven's hideout was located at downtown and since Kagome lived far away from the main city, they were about two or three hours from her home. As they walked over to her house, they saw many places. A casino was near by and Inuyasha remembered that it was there where he had bet Naraku everything that had ever mattered to him.

 

“Two pairs” Inuyasha said proudly, feeling that he was going to win but Naraku's smile on his face he started to feel worried.

 

“Nice try kid...” Inuyasha's world went black when he saw that his opponent had a royal flush. “You did play well Inuyasha, it just wasn't good enough”

 

“No… this… this isn't happening!!!” he yelled desperately. “You cheated!”

 

“How? I may have given away the cards but I didn't know where these were” he pointed at his cards. “Even if I did… I wouldn't have been able to cheat; Shinta always complimented you by your great ability of watching”

 

“Kikyo…” was the only thing he was capable of thinking.

 

“Aw… that girl is going to be mine for a whole week, so sweet” he laughed evilly as he watched Inuyasha's reaction, he wanted to grab his neck and choke him till he was dead but Naraku pulled out a gun. “No violence Inuyasha, keep your word… I would have kept mine”

 

“You liar!” Inuyasha was about to hit him but he remembered his gun. “I can't give you Kikyo… she's the only thing I have she's… the love of my life”

 

“It'll be only for a week… what are you so afraid of?”

 

“What are you thinking about?” Kagome asked, they had stopped in front of the casino and Kagome just wanted to get home soon.

 

“Old bitter memories” he answered and kept on walking.

 

“I don't know why but I feel like someone tonight's adventure reminded you of many things you lived” he nodded.

 

“Most of them aren't even related but… I still get them to travel through my thoughts” she nodded and let out a sigh.

 

“May I know them?” Kagome asked; several times she had wished to know what was of him before they had met.

 

“I was thinking about how I lost everything to Naraku…” Kagome listened attentively as he told him everything that had happened when he had risked betting all his possessions.

 

“Why would you do that?” he shook his head.

 

“I thought that by doing that I would revenge the death of my dearest friend, I thought that with Naraku at jail things would be different and I would feel that I made justice but… after thinking about it many times I realized that it was a mistake, nothing would bring him back from death” she nodded and he clenched his fists. “If only I… I haven't bet her…”

 

“You bet your girlfriend?” she asked a bit shocked and he nodded ashamed. “But if the bet was only for a week, why didn't she go back to you?”

 

“I'm still asking myself the same thing”

 

“Inuyasha… this isn't working anymore” she said when the week was finally over, Inuyasha felt his heart stopping.

 

“But… Kikyo… I…” she shook her head.

 

“It's not you; I realized that I love Naraku…” he felt someone stomping on his heart. “I have to go… Naraku is going to buy a new car”

 

“Yeah… you love him” he said and she looked back at him. “It's clear as crystal to me… now that he's buying you a car I'm sure you're very in love with him”

 

“What are you trying to say?” he faked his laugh; he was too heart broken like to let out a real laugh.

 

“You don't love him Kikyo, I remember that when I met you… I felt guilty for stealing from you, then when you became my girlfriend you always said you loved me and now I realized why… because you loved the money I brought to you” she slapped him. “Now you're mad because you know it's true and if in your heart you truly loved me once because I do love you… you're leaving me not because our relationship isn't working but because you are a gold digger”

 

“Jerk! Get out of here!” she yelled and tried to hit him but he grabbed her arms and kissed her deeply, Kikyo returned the kiss and cried. “I never loved you… I was after your money and now that I don't need you anymore, leave”

 

“I do love you…” he said those words and left with his heart broken.

 

“Leave already”

 

“Are we near my house already?” she asked and Inuyasha shook his head a bit and turned his attention to her.

 

“Huh?” he asked and she smiled.

 

“Never mind…” she grabbed his hand. “We should hurry... I have school tomorrow and I want to sleep now”

 

Kagome talked about nonsense things while she walked next to Inuyasha, she was trying to keep him away from going back to his thoughts. When she heard him saying how much he regretted betting his girlfriend, she felt the same he had felt when she told him she never loved him… Kagome felt heart broken. `I don't want to love him, he's everything my mom hates and he's everything I ever wanted to meet… but I'm not sure if he's everything I want to love' she thought as she blurted out more words. For the first time, Kagome heard him let out a real laugh.

 

“What?” she asked.

 

“You realize what you just said?” she shook her head and he sighed. “Forget it then… well; at least we are finally near your house”

 

“We are?!” she asked excited and when she looked at front she saw he was right. “Finally… I don't think I have ever stayed up this much, at least not at a school night”

 

“And after this crazy night I'll finally get to sleep, I think I'll take a sick day tomorrow… I want to sleep” he yawned and stopped her. “Um… you know, maybe you should do the same”

 

“Yeah… that's a good idea” she agreed, Kagome kept on walking but Inuyasha stopped her again.

 

“And we could go out for lunch…” she blushed and nodded. “But is not a date”

 

“Right… it never crossed my mind” she said and kissed his cheek lightly, Kagome pulled his hand as they were at the door of her house. “Thanks for rescuing me and thanks for asking me out”

 

“It's not a date…” she nodded. “Well, you should go to sleep if you're going to school you'll only sleep…” he looked at his watch. “4 hours”

 

“Good night” Kagome wanted to give him a peck but before she could place her lips over his four men grabbed Inuyasha and threw him to the floor.

 

“What the fuck is going on?!” he asked as he tried to struggle but they finally beat him and handcuffed him.

 

“You're arrested for the kidnap of Kagome Higurashi”
