Prologue: The Devil Eradicator

A red glowing light burned with intensity for a moment, before it was followed by an exhale of smoke. The figure on the building let the cigarette fall from her slender fingers into the puddle the rain had created. Her once full of life locks hung around her face in a short cut. She couldn't afford long hair anymore. She had made that mistake when she first took this gig, and it had nearly cost her losing her life.

The girl leapt down from the building and landed with a thumb on her steel-toed leather boot-clad feet. Her wet shorts of black leather clung to her thighs and work toned ass. The trim waist was draped with a silver chain that had a small charm hanging from it. The Death Eye glinted as it caught the light of one of the few remaining street lamps left in the once grand city of Tokyo with each step she took, swinging on the chain. Her breasts were bound in a tight wrap of white bandages. It made it easier for her to run with her large assets out of the way. She wore an old American bomber jacket of army green, the pockets stuffed with various weapons and a pack of smokes.

Her target in sight, she silently unsheathed the sleek katana from its holster hanging from her hips. The demon lifted its ugly green head from where it had been slowly torturing a human man by removing his rather… inadequate appendages. Its sickly yellow eyes landed on the approaching figure, or more directly, the figure's now infamous blade. No one really knew what Taijiya-san looked like, but the tales of the blade allowed the imp to make no mistake who was after him.

The young woman's eyes narrowed in recognition of the demon before her. All this time… and the damn thing still hadn't died. He was still living and as usual, being his usual grotesque self. If he was alive, then surely that meant…. She shook her head. She couldn't become distracted.

"Toad…" her voice growled out through the pounding rain and the imp's victim's whimpers of pain.

The demon shuddered at the deadliness of the alleged Devil Eradicator's voice. The coldness there rivaled even his master's tone…but … where had he heard that voice before? Using the strings of daring he had left, he lifted his eyes to the assassin's face. Beneath the mask of black eyeliner and shadow, he recognized the face. The face that had so plagued the night's of his master so long ago. She was an unforgettable one that one…

But… that was centuries ago, hadn't it been? Yet, she had no sense of being reincarnated….no this was the exact same woman. That was disturbing enough in itself, if the said woman hadn't been advancing on him with a look of murder in her eyes.

"K-Kagome?" he stuttered out.

A smirk painted its way across the girl's lips. "I'm so happy we haven't forgotten each other. After all, it's been a while… hasn't it, Jaken?"

"But… but how?"

The look on her face darkened to one with no mirth whatsoever in it. "That's a tale for another time. At this moment, I'm going to first ask you nicely…Where is he?"

The imp backed his way up to the wall. "I-I don't know who you're talking about."

A soft chuckle came from the girl. "Of course you don't. Maybe I could give you a clue…"

A scream rang out through the night as the girl pierced the tough skin of the demon with her blade, just above his knee, pinning him to the ground.

"Have an idea now?"

Again, the lesser demon cowered before the woman with a soul of ice. "I'll only know once he returns from a business trip. He's been away for quite a while."

A grin that would have chilled the bones in a fire apparition's veins appeared on her face. "Well then, why don't we just go wait for him at his grand palace?"

The imp swallowed as best he could around the lump in his throat, staring up at the woman in apprehension…
