~*DIVINE TEMPTATION*~
So It Begins
Everyone on Bus 7 slept, in a state blissful unawareness during the entire trip. Once Myoga pulled up to the entrance of Camp Jewel, he blew his whistle, hoping that the loud noise would wake the demons up, at least. Their sensitive ears shouldn't be able to withstand the shrill sound, and it was bound to wake them up eventually.
It didn't work. It did not work at all. Nobody even blinked. Sighing his evident frustration, he blew the whistle again; but to the same effect. Grumbling over his misfortune, he got up and walked over to the first demon he could see. Which just happened to be Sesshomaru. Completely conscious of the fact that this was a very stupid move, and that it was out of pure desperation, didn't make his idea sound any better. However, no more were forthcoming, so he leaned over and blew the whistle into Sesshomaru's ear.
It woke Kagome up before it woke Sesshomaru, yet it was his claws that were sinking into the sensitive flesh of Myoga's neck. Leaving the layers of sleep gradually, they turned to glared at the flea demon, who shrugged sheepishly. “Hey. It worked,” he gurgled while Sesshomaru removed his claws and wiped it on Myoga's shirt; distaste evident on his face as he studied his once immaculate claws, which were now spattered with blood. Myoga grabbed their attention when he cleared his throat. “Can you two do me a favor?” The human and the demon stared at him as if he had suddenly grown another head. They weren't in anyway inclined to help him.
Myoga sighed again and continued as if he didn't notice their unwillingness to help him. “Since you two are awake, can you wake the others up, please?”
Sesshomaru flipped him off and turned to snuggle into Kagome's neck, inhaling her sweet and unique scent. She, however, was much nicer and decided to cooperate. Leaping out of Sesshomaru's lap, she walked over to where Kouga and Ayame were sitting. She poked Ayame hard in the ribs, and smirked over the wolf's squeal, which in turn woke her boyfriend up. `My work here is done,' she thought sarcastically while Ayame rubbed her side and Kouga rubbed his ears.
Across from them were Sango and Miroku, who were already awake. Kagome growled at the exasperating teenagers. “If you two were up, why didn't you wake everybody else up?” she asked huffily.
“Laziness,” Sango said.
“Didn't feel it,” Miroku drawled.
Too drowsy to do anything but flip them off, she walked over to where Sesshomaru was forcefully shaking Inuyasha, jarring Rin in the process. Since he had that under control, Kagome went to where Kirara and Shippou were supposed to be sitting. Their seats were empty, because they were already outside. She decided to join them when she felt two strong arms wrap around her waist and pick her up.
“I think you like this picking me up thing too much, Fluffy,” Kagome said sarcastically.
“Fluffy?” Inuyasha whispered into her ear, sending shivers down her back. “How could you, of all people, forget my name when you were screaming it last night?”
Kagome blushed over what he was unconsciously doing to her. “Ha-ha, Yasha. Very original. It's just that your brother seems to have a fetish for picking little, defenseless girls up.”
“Maybe he does. I'll protect you,” he said conspiratorially. She giggled as Inuyasha placed her back down on the ground. She turned to him with a pout, but he shrugged and inclined his head toward Rin, who was standing alone while everyone else paired up. She nodded in understanding and gave him a smile of reassurance. He kissed her on the cheek and walked out of the bus.
Kagome was about to follow when, once again, she felt her feet leave the floor. `This is becomingly an annoyingly repetitive pattern,' she thought crossly.
“If I didn't know any better,” a deceptively calm yet sexy voice purred into her ear, making her shiver sensuously, “I'd say you have a crush on my little brother.” He ran his lips over her place where her neck met her shoulder. “For some reason, that makes me angry. After all, you are mine. You just don't know it yet. You wouldn't do anything to make me angry, would you Kagome?” he asked, rubbing his tongue languidly over the sensitive spot.
“Of course not,” she gasped out.
“Good girl,” he murmured, taking delicate nips over the juncture, then licking the red marks. His touch inflamed them rather than soothed them.
“Oh, Fluffy,” Kagome moaned.
“My name is Sesshomaru. Say it,” he commanded.
“Sesshomaru, don't stop,” she pleaded.
“That's it wench. Remember my name, Kagome. You'll be screaming it later. That's a promise.” Then he set her down on the floor of the bus gently, holding her until she stopped swaying. Kagome looked up and noticed the slight but conspicuous smirk on his face; it was one of pure masculine satisfaction. Odd, but she couldn't be angry with him. The smirk just made him sexier and made the memories of what just happened run through her head. Along with fantasies.
About Sesshomaru, naked and hers.
Kagome mentally slapped herself. `Fantasies are dangerous,' she scolded. `Fantasies imply a future that might be there, but then it might not.'
Another voice inside her began to speak, one whom she'd never heard from before. `But what about the now? It's all you have,' it whispered, seductively.
`There is no now,' she responded internally, all the while wondering why she was having an argument with herself, even though it was an altered personality.
`Really?' it asked sarcastically. `From what I can see, there already is a now. He wants to sleep with you. You want him flat on his back. What more can you possibly want?'
“A future with him, with his kids. Him beside me forever. That's what I really want,” she said aloud, before she realized the words were slipping out. Her face reddened as she tried to pry Sesshomaru's hands from around her waist.
“Today is your lucky day, Kagome. I think I'm inclined to let you have me,” Sesshomaru drawled before walking off the bus.
Kagome stood there, sputtering angrily as Sesshomaru sauntered off the bus. “I hate arrogant, cocky bastards!” she screeched at his back.
“A good thing I'm not one,” he replied nonchalantly, without even turning to face her.
Kagome didn't think his statement deserved an answer, so she didn't say anything to him. She did follow him off the bus, staring at his ass the whole time. Their bags were already on the ground. Kagome sighed, her relief evident. She honestly couldn't remember what she did with her bag when they were at headquarters. She thanked Kami for the little kitsunes who carry their suitcases the 450 miles to the actual Camp Jewel. And then she thanked Kami for the trucks that the little kitsunes drive so that they can actually bring their stuff.
Kikyo magically appeared at the head of the group, smiling brightly. “Ok, guys. The whole information session type thing is at 7:00 in the mess hall, but I'm supposed to tell you what cabins you're in. Kagome, Sango, Ayame, Rin and Kirara, you five are in Cabin H. Inuyasha, Miroku, Sesshomaru, Shippou and Koga, you five are in Cabin G, which is right next to the girls' cabin. Any questions?”
Kagome raised her hand.
Kikyo sighed, “This isn't school anymore. You don't have to raise your hand.”
Kagome blushed. “Sorry. Anyway, where are Cabins G and H?”
Kikyo pointed in the northeast direction, where a large purple banner screamed “THIS WAY TO CABINS E, F, G, AND H!” “That clear enough for you?” Kikyo asked sarcastically.
“Crystal,” Kagome said back, her tone laced with an equal amount of sarcasm, twin flames roaring in her brown eyes. She picked up her bags and began to walk toward the sign.
Kikyo looked at Kagome's retreating figure thoughtfully. “Something I said? She seemed really irritated.”
Inuyasha took pity on Kikyo and answered her; none of the girls seemed the least bit inclined to help her. They were all busy staring daggers at their leader; irrational amounts of hatred evident in their eyes. If looks could kill . . . well, let's just say that Kikyo wouldn't be around much longer to hurt Kagome any longer. The boys weren't helping either. They were just standing around, waiting for Kikyo to apologize. Obviously, if something was to be said, Inuyasha would have to say it. Kikyo was looking around worriedly, shying away from Kirara, whose eyes had begun to take on a reddish tint, when Inuyasha tapped her on the shoulder. She jumped a full foot and whirled around to face him. He shrugged and apologized half heartedly. He really wasn't that sorry. “Kagome tends to completely miss the obvious,” he began. “And on top of that, you were sarcastic about it. Must have pissed her off a bit.”
Kikyo nodded to show her understanding. “Should I go apologize?” she asked, already prepared to chase the girl who was struggling with her extra large bags.
Inuyasha shook his head. “She'll probably not listen to you anyways, I got it.” he grabbed his trunks and ran after Kagome. Sesshomaru, who everyone knows is a natural born leader, decided to go to his cabin as well. So everyone followed him. Only Rin had the decency to say goodbye to Kikyo, the rest walked right by her. Kirara even growled at her, sending Kikyo running in the opposite direction while Shippou howled in laughter.
By the time Inuyasha caught up to Kagome, she was breathing heavily and sweat was pouring down her body. Inuyasha sighed, annoyed and worried over the exhaustion and weariness mingled with her scent. “Kagome, how were you planning to carry those heavy ass bags to your cabin by yourself?”
She growled at him with fires in her eyes. “Inuyasha Menomaru Hyate!” she screeched. “I am sick and tired of people thinking that I can't take care of myself. I have survived on my own for the past 17 years!”
Inuyasha's heart softened as he sought to assuage her wounded ego. Wiping away the tears of anger and frustration that were coursing down her flushed cheeks, he leaned in to kiss her forehead. She dropped her bags and wrapped her arms around his waist and rested her head on his chest. “It's ok, Kagome. I know you can take care of yourself. It makes me feel better when I can do it for you. It hurt my heart to see you struggling with those bags, and every fiber of my being screamed for me to help you. Don't you understand, Kaggie? I need you to need me. It makes me feel like I have some purpose in life,” he whispered into her ear.
She looked up and her breath caught when she saw the feeling in his amber eyes. She reached up
to touch his face, and giggled slightly when he purred and leaned into her touch. “I do need you,
Yash, and I always will. It's just, I hate when people patronize me,” she said with a pointed glance in Kikyo's direction.
“Keh. You're gonna let a stupid comment piss you off. Pathetic humans,” he murmured.
“Well, she didn't have to be a bitch!”
“She didn't mean it,” he countered. “Now are you ready to let me help you?”
Kagome grinned. “Yeah, now be a good slave and carry mu bags to Cabin h!” she said, giving him a playful slap on the shoulder.
“Yes, master,” he muttered, staring at her with evident appreciation. “Will you whip me if I don't?”
“Oh, I might consider it.”
“What if I like it?” he asked, wiggling his eyebrows.
“Oh, bad doggy!” she squealed, shock evident on her face.
“Well we won't need to resort to that. Let's go, I think the rest of them might be at the Cabins already.”
She looked at him with a quizzing expression on her face. “How is that possible? I left before them, we should have a head start.”
“We do. In the opposite direction. You missed the sign by a mile, sweetie.” he picked up her heavy bags and began to walk to the cabins. Kagome was at his side, entertaining them with a steady stream of chatter all the while.
They reached their friends after 5 minutes of walking at a steady pace. Together, the 10 companions approached Cabins G and H. Their jaws dropped when they saw their lodgings for the next three months. Their cabins were actually made up of logs, but there was a giant pool between them, equipped with beach chairs and umbrellas. They all headed into the boys' cabin, which was painted midnight blue. They all expected rudimentary lodgings, since the house was made of logs. They couldn't have been more wrong.
Inside, as soon as you entered, ware a couch and a loveseat, along with a flat panel television directly across from it. There was also a mini refrigerator, equipped with soda and water (AN: WHAT? NO BEER?), along with chips and cookies in a small drawer next to it. Beyond that were 5 double beds, each made up with midnight blue and white sheets. Upon closer investigation, Inuyasha discovered that each of their names were embroidered on one of the bedspreads. And right after that were two white doors; each led to a bathroom with a hot tub, shower, sink and toilet, also tastefully done in blue and white. Next to the bathrooms were 5 blue doors, each with a name on top. Miroku opened one of them and found that they led to spacious closets. Miroku stared at Inuyasha, who stared at Shippou, who stared at Sesshomaru, who stared at Kouga; and as if on cue, they all broke out in cheers. “MAN, IS IT GOOD TO BE A SENIOR!!!!”
The girls, however, were anxious to see their own cabin, so they slipped out through the front door and walked around the pool to cabin H, which was painted a deep rose. Their room was designed the same way, except the color scheme was baby pink and white. They were beginning to unpack when a knock sounded at the door. Rin jumped from the dusky rose couch, where she was watching Maroon 5 perform, and rushed to open the door. Outside was Shippou, standing in nothing but his swimming trunks.
“Hey. Me and the guys and the guys are going to take a little swim. You know, try out the pool and shit. Wanna come?” he asked casually, leaning on the door frame.
Rin peered up as Shippou through lowered lashes and nodded her head. “Sure, let me ask the others if they want to go. Come in, it might take a while.” She escorted Shippou into the cabin and told him to sit down on the couch. He immediately changed the concert to a football game. “Figures,” she murmured, exasperated. Shippou didn't even hear her murmured comment, nor did he see her walk away. He was too busy yelling at the tv where the referee had made a really bad call, announcing a touchdown when a blind man could see that the ball was nowhere close to the goal line. (FUCKING STEELERS!!!!!) Rin shook her head and walked over to the rest of the girls. “Hey girlies! Who wants to go swimming?”
