I Loathe Thee?

Chapter 11

Exterminate Me

Okay, for those who have FF.net, they know that I’m having difficulty with the updates…And it took me nearly two hours to email everyone…So here’s the update before my birthday.

Now apparently MM.org is giving me troubles…Well this is just starting to really bug me!

“Bye Kaede!!”

“Aye, bye child! Bye to ye too, Inuyasha.”

“Feh.”

“Inuyasha! You really could try to be nicer!” The old woman laughed and shook her head at the retreating forms of the two teens.

“I could, but I’m really not going to. Why should I be nice to that old hag!?”

“Gee…I dunno…Heard of the term ‘respect your elders’?” He blinked at her.

“Nope.”

“Really!?”

“Yup.”

“Man and I thought I was sheltered…”

“What was that?”

“Nothing!!”

“Oh-I’m not so…Get on.” She looked at him as if he had grown a third ear.

“I said ‘Get on’” He said it with a more demanding tone in his voice; she scrambled to get on his back.

“Inu- Aaaahhhh!! What’s going on!?”

“I smell that fucking wolf.”

“Oh come on…He’s not that bad!” She glared at the back of his head.

“Not that bad!? He kidnapped you!!”

“You can’t judge people by first impressions! Look at what you did!” He scowled.

“Keh. That’s different.”

“Oh really?”

“Yes-hey look! There’s a village up ahead!” ‘Oh, wow! There really is a village up there!’

“Gah!!” He fell to the ground clutching his nose, bringing the girl to the ground with him. After she dusted herself off, she made sure he was okay.

“What’s wrong?”

“The stench!”

“What stench?” She sniffed the air cautiously; upon smelling nothing out of the ordinary, she furrowed her brow in confusion.

“You’re a human, you wouldn’t smell it. It’s coming from the village. The smell of death is radiating off the place.” Concern instantly filled her eyes.

“We should go check it out. Maybe someone’s hurt!” He looked at her like she was a loony, but followed reluctantly.

He was correct. It seems at though the entire village was dead. The young girl couldn’t believe her eyes. Never, in her life, had she seen so much death in one place.

His ears twitched; he heard movement. Before his head could jerk in the direction from whence the sound came a loud voice boomed from a nearby hut, “Hiraikotsu!” Followed by a large boomerang-type-weapon flying through the air, directed at the hanyou’s head. He ducked and stared in the direction on the voice. He inwardly winced at the sickening sound of the boomerang breaking through a hut.

“Who’s there? Show yourself.” He sniffed the air, but covered his nose as the reek of the decomposing bodies covered all other scents.

“Inuyasha, who’s in there? Are they after the jewel?” He glared at her and shoved her behind him for protection.

“Don’t mention that! If they weren’t before- they defiantly are now!” Her cheeks flushed with embarrassment.

“Sorry.” The meek reply would have been inaudible if it hadn’t been for his excellent hearing.

“Sorry isn’t good enough. Don’t do it again, you could get yourself killed.” Her eyes filled with tears.

“But- But…You won’t let me die, will you!?”

“What are you doing!? Don’t cry!”

“Why not! You said-”

“Listen, I don’t care what I said, just don’t cry.” She nodded and tried to wipe her tears away.

“Oh, how touching.” They looked in the direction of the feminine voice. She was leaning against a doorframe. She was tall- well taller than Kagome. She had hair that was messily thrown into a high ponytail. She was wearing a magenta and black exterminating outfit that, if one looked close enough they would notice, was blood stained. Not that they would know this, but she was wounded. She had been shot by arrows of her own villagers. They had thought she had been going insane- well she had almost been killed by the hands of someone she loved, wouldn’t that make you act a little crazy?

“They demon is actually talking nice to the little girl.” Kagome fumed, apparently not realizing the woman was dangerous.

“I’m not a little girl.” She looked at the girl before her eyes widened.

“Are you the miko who holds the Shikon no Tama? I do believe I remember hearing you mention a jewel…”

Kagome looked uncertainly between Inuyasha and the girl. The exterminator, taking this as a ‘yes’, lunged forward, and drew her katana (seeing as her Hiraikotsu was currently lodged in a hut).

Inuyasha immediately blocked the attack with his haori sleeve.

“Wench!” He grabbed her by the throat. “You are a mere human what good would the jewel be to you?!” He sneered in her face. She had dropped her katana and looked at the ground where it lay. She looked panicked. Never in all her years had she been able to be beaten.

“I…I need the jewel…This man…He told me…If I find the…Sacred jewel…He would tell me…Who killed my village.” Inuyasha’s grip tightened on her throat and she cried out in pain. Kagome grabbed his wrist and tried without result to get him to let the girl.

“Kagome! What are you doing!?” He glared at the miko.

“Let her go! You’re killing her!” Reluctantly he loosened his grip and let the girl fall. Not without picking up her weapon, to keep her from trying anything rash. She coughed and glared up at the hanyou.

“Congratulations hanyou. You are the first demon I have not defeated.” She glanced at the girl behind the hanyou.

“Girl, do you, or do you not, have the Shikon no Tama?” The girl nodded her head slowly.

“Why are you with this half-demon!? He could be after your jewel, you know.” The woman stood up and brushed herself off. Inuyasha growled at her for calling him ‘half-demon’, no matter how true, it still stung to be called it. Kagome nearly laughed at the notion of Inuyasha stealing the jewel.

“He wouldn’t. Trust me.” Kagome finally noticed the wounds she had. “Are you okay? You’re injured!”

“Kagome!” Inuyasha whined at her. “Can’t we just leave her here and go!?” She looked sternly at him.

“No! She’s hurt, and we’re going to help her!” She set her bag down and dug out her first aid kit.

Was that okay? I’m a little distracted with trying to get FF and MM to work correctly….Makes me really sad. However, apparently, I’m not alone in that one. I hope they get these things fixed soon!
