Kagome walked towards the well with intentions of going home, the jewel was complete, Naraku was purified and Inuyasha was with a now somehow living Kikyou. Kagome was done, she'd had it with the feudal era already, Sango and Miroku walked away, ready to start their lives anew together, Shippou had found another kitsune to further his abilities with leaving Kagome alone again. It had been 5 years since she first fell through the well, now being 20 she was ready to hopefully go back to her old life. A certain wolf demon had other plans.
Kagome gasped feeling a familiar presence behind her, “Kouga…” she whispered, almost too quiet for him to hear. Tears started to fall from her eyes. She realized there was still someone here who wanted her.
“Kagome, what are you doing here, shouldn't you be celebrating with everyone else? Naraku is finally gone.” He asked curiously. He honestly had no idea why she would be anywhere near this old well.
“It's time for me to go Kouga… there's nothing left for me here. Inuyasha used me and I just want Sango, Miroku, and Shippou to be happy. Everyone got what they wanted except…” She trailed off not wanting to finish her sentence, tears were now pouring freely down her face, she wasn't afraid to hide her emotions from anyone anymore.
Kouga moved in to embrace her; she stiffened before he got close and threw a leg over the well. “Kagome, I don't want you to hurt anymore, I truly do love you no matter what others think. I don't care if we were to have hanyou children, they would be ours and I would give them the world. I want to make you happy; you deserve it after all you've done for us.”
Kagome withdrew her leg and crumpled to the ground. Never in her five years in the feudal era had anyone said anything so nice and heartfelt to her. “Kouga,” she whispered again staring at the ground, “I'm not sure if I can love you back. You've always been so possessive and I can't handle that.”
“I… well… yea I have, but I want to change that! For you Kagome, only for you. I would give you the moon, the sun, and the stars if I could. I want nothing more than for you to be happy, and I want to give you said happiness.” He stepped closer to Kagome again, finally embracing her, his heart laid out onto the table for which only she could decide what to do with.
Kagome sighed, his embrace felt right, so comforting and cozy. Sleep overcame her as she snuggled into Kouga and mumbled an almost incoherent “We can try…”
He was overcome with absolute and pure joy. The woman who he has always said to care for finally said she'd give him a shot. He wanted to jump for joy and let the whole world know. He took off with wicked fast speed towards his den in the east, faster than he ever ran with the jewel shards knowing that Kagome was his… finally.

He arrived at his den, Kagome still nestled in his arms and his wolf brethren gasped in awe, they knew what this meant. Kouga swore he would not come back until he had Kagome with him and that she'd accept him as a mate. Ginta and Hakakku were not surprised at all. They knew, somehow, that Kagome was destined for Kouga, though why the fates would destine him with a human they could not figure out.
A celebration was in order that night, for they had much to celebrate for once, Kagome was with them, Kagura was dead, the wolf tribe was finally avenged, and Naraku was gone. Oh this would be a night to remember indeed.

Kagome stirred, cracking open one eye to survey her surroundings, she sighed realizing where she was. After a couple minutes more of resting she decided it would be better to not worry anyone and get up. She sat up with ease and Ginta rushed over to her.
“Kagome! I'm so glad you finally accepted Kouga! It's been too long since you were last here, we missed you so.” He exclaimed while hugging her tightly, she smiled returning his embrace.
Yes this felt right, better than she ever felt with Inuyasha. She felt welcome here. Smiling up at Ginta she replied “It's great to be here and feel welcomed and wanted, however, I'm starving-”
Before she could finish Ginta cut her off, “Kouga, Hakakku and Hachiro should return shortly with dinner! A celebration is being held tonight for we have so much to celebrate!”
As soon as Ginta finished his sentence Kouga and the two others appeared in the entrance to the cave, Kagome couldn't help but stare in awe at how wonderful he looked there, the daylight shining behind him, a deer slung over his shoulder, his usual toothy grin. He was far too proud of himself this day. Who could blame him though, Kagome had said yes and everything was totally going his way.
A fellow pack member rushed to Kouga's side and took the deer off his shoulder. “I'll take care of this, it seems Sister Kagome has finally awakened.”
Upon hearing that Kagome was finally awake his grin widened, not that he was worried she was hurt or anything, surely she was just tired from all the emotional stress of the past week. He sauntered over to Kagome, dismissing Ginta, and smiled widely at her. A smile that would only ever been seen by anyone when she was in his presence.
Kagome looked up into Kouga's eyes and could see him mentally squealing like a schoolgirl who just got asked out by the most popular boy, she almost melted into a pool of goo when he smiled at her, a true smile if she ever saw one.
She smiled back, realizing then that she did indeed have feelings for the wolf. Inuyasha was just holding her back. Deciding to be bold she smiled wider and broke the silence, “I missed you, even if I did just wake up.” She said with a giggle at the end.
Kouga had thought this day couldn't have gotten any better, but with her smile and giggle, it just did, “As silly as that sounds, since you did just wake up, I'm glad you're thinking about me.” He grasped her hands between his and stared deeply into her golden brown eyes, “I missed you too Kagome. I always miss you.” He smiled again, even brighter than before.
Oh there it is again, that smile… that cursed, beautiful smile that just makes me turn to jelly. Kagome thought to herself.
Although she was a powerful miko and Kouga loved her as she was he couldn't help but wish, deep down, that she could somehow become a wolf youkai like himself. She could be even more stunning, and perfect if that were possible.
