Chapter 2: A Party of Sorts

The wolf den was alive with excitement. Kouga had his new mate and everyone was incredibly happy about the good fortune in the air. Kagome couldn't exactly complain either. She had nothing left of her old life in the future really. She had missed so much school at this point there was really no point in even trying to keep up. Life was good, for everyone, except a certain hanyou who had decided he needed a break from his beloved Kikyou.

Inuyasha watched longingly as Kagome enjoyed her time with Kouga, a smile on her face and certain, something, about her that he just couldn't put his finger on that he'd never seen before. He was jealous to say the least. Kagome was supposed to be his, sure Kikyou was his soul mate but shouldn't that mean that Kagome was too, since they shared a soul? He sighed to himself, he couldn't help but feel like this was all his fault, if he hadn't walked away from Kagome after everyone else had he would have her, or so he thought. Feeling the need to show himself finally and crash their party Inuyasha hopped into the cave entrance.

Kouga bristled at the intrusion, “Kagome, get behind me.” He growled out staring straight at Inuyasha. I thought muttface didn't want Kagome. I hope she'll still stay. Kouga thought to himself and stuffed his worry away.

“What do you want Inuyasha! Did Kikyou leave you because you're still a half demon!” to everyone's surprise Kagome shouted with venom in her last words. She was so over Inuyasha trying to take her happiness away.

Inuyasha was shocked, that was something he had expected from Kouga's mouth, not his Kagome. “No, she didn't leave me wench, I just thought that she might like to have some company in bed and seeing as you and her share a soul I figured that you would be the perfect company!” Inuyasha spat back.

“Inuyasha, you're not welcome here, leave. Kagome is mine, she has even agreed to stay with me,” Kouga said calmly, “she went so willingly too, it appears that she never belonged to you in the first place.”

Inuyasha was utterly shocked and at a loss for words. “She will never be yours flea bag!” Inuyasha sputtered and drew his weapon. He was done talking, he would take Kagome today and slice that mangy wolf into pieces!

Kouga sighed, and to think this day was going so well. He looked at Kagome and took her hands, “Kagome, I promise I'll come back to you.” His words were so heartfelt Kagome couldn't help but wish that Kouga would severely injure Inuyasha so he would never come back.

“Get your hands off her you mangy wolf! She's my woman! She has never belonged to you!” Inuyasha was done waiting and charged Kouga.

“INUYASHAAA!” Kagome yelled. Inuyasha stopped dead in his tracks, he didn't like that tone. “I am not your woman, I belong to Kouga now. I don't think I was ever your woman. You were always running off for Kikyou, I was always second best. You lost my love, now leave. I am finally happy don't you ruin it.” Kagome sniffled but continued on, “If you want to walk out of here alive today, to go back to your beloved Kikyou, then you will put your sword away and walk away. Otherwise you will die by my hands today Inuyasha.” Her tone was deadly serious and the cave was quiet all eyes switching rapidly between Kagome and Inuyasha.

“But…” Inuyasha sheathed his sword.

“No buts Inuyasha. I am done with you and your deception. You've led me on long enough, I can't love someone like that.” Kagome turned her back not wanting Inuyasha to see her tears.

“I think it's best that you leave Inuyasha. You've hurt Kagome enough.” Kouga said turning his back on Inuyasha to comfort Kagome.

“No! I can't leave without her! SHE IS MINE!” Inuyasha roared charging the embracing couple. He was seething with jealousy.

Kagome moved with speeds so fast even Kouga missed them. She was on top of Inuyasha pinning him by his shoulders glaring violently at him. Inuyasha swore he could see her normally brown eyes glowing red and blinked a few times to clear his vision. “I told you… to leave unless you wanted to die by my hand.” Kagome snarled at him.

“Keh, you wouldn't. You still care for me, don't deny it.” Inuyasha scoffed arrogantly, his Kagome would never do anything to harm him. Before he knew it there was a searing pain where her hands were pinning his shoulders. His eyes widened in shock, Kagome was starting to purify him and if he didn't know any better there was also claws digging into his shoulders.

“Leave!” She growled viciously at him eyes flashing red again. “Or I will continue purifying you and you will never see Kikyou again.”

“Kagome…” Inuyasha was hurt beyond anything he'd ever felt before. “Stop. I'll go… I love you Kagome, take care of yourself” he sighed and waited for Kagome to get off him, she shifted to the side and sat on the floor facing away from him. He turned to Kouga, “Take care of her, never let her shed another tear, else I will be back to take her.”

Kouga just stared at Inuyasha, waiting for him to leave. Taking his cue Inuyasha sulked out of the den without a look back.

Kouga moved over to Kagome and sat next to her. She fell apart then and threw herself into Kouga's chest sobbing uncontrollably. “Why can't I ever be happy, why does everyone try to ruin it.” Kagome asked to no one in particular. Kouga didn't say anything, just pulled her into his lap and hugged her tightly.

“It's alright Kagome, I promised you I'd make you happy and I'm not going back on that promise.” Kouga whispered, stroking Kagome's hair. Gods she smells good. She's not like most humans, she smells so sweet and unnatural .What I wouldn't give right now… Kouga scowled internally at himself, he shouldn't be thinking such things when Kagome was in such obvious pain, but he just couldn't help it she smelled so irresistible.

Kagome snuggled into him closer sighing contently. “Kouga?”

“Hm? What can I help you with?” Kouga asked looking around at his tribe assuring them everything was alright so they could resume their celebration.

“Is there somewhere…” Kagome took a deep breath, she couldn't believe she was going to ask this… “we can go more private, I want to get to know you better.”

Kouga smiled into her hair and inhaled deeply he picked her up and started towards the entrance, but not before stopping and turning to his wolf clan, they looked at him expectantly. “I'm not sure when we'll be back but worry not, Ginta and Hakakku will be in charge until I return.” He gave them all a look that clearly said he was not to be questioned.

Oh Kagome, if only you could smell like I can you would already know everything about me like I know you. Kouga thought to himself smiling down at Kagome.

“This place is amazing Kouga, where are we?” Kagome asked after Kouga set her down. It appeared that they were on the top of a mountain.

“This is where I come to sort things out and think, I thought you might like it.” He perched himself next to her and gazed out into the west. He had to admit, the view was beautiful, the sun was setting and it was spring so the flowers were blooming as well. Though as beautiful as the flowers were none of them even came close to scratching how breathtakingly beautiful Kagome was in his eyes.

“Kouga, who knew you were so thoughtful and sweet… and charming… and…” she trailed off and blushed How I didn't realize he was so sexy and sweet and how… his eyes are beyond words… is absolutely unbelievable. Stupid Inuyasha, always ruining things. Kagome sunk into her thoughts snuggling against Kouga and sighing dreamily.

The wolf prince didn't miss her change of expression and wondered to himself what the rest of her sentence was going to be. How did I get so lucky? Kagome has got to be the prettiest girl around. “Kagome, what are you going to do with the jewel now that it's purified and whole?”

Kagome sighed, she'd been thinking about that for a while she couldn't just give it to Inuyasha or Kikyou, she knew what they would do with it and that was unacceptable. They don't love each other, they never did. She couldn't let them have such a selfish wish. “I don't know. I've been trying to figure that out. I need to make a wish so that it just goes away forever but, I don't know what to wish. What do you think I should do?”

Kouga hoped she would ask that, “You could wish for something to benefit yourself. Make yourself happy for once I don't think it would taint the jewel or anything.”

She thought about it for a while, if she made a wish on the jewel she'd never be able to see her family again but she couldn't leave Kouga now. She hadn't even been with him for a full day yet but she felt so attached already. “I suppose I could…Kouga you'd never leave me would you?” she was forming a plan but if Kouga didn't want to be with her forever then she would just take the jewel back to her time and be done with it there.

Kouga sighed, he knew she was going to ask, he didn't know how to answer without sounding fake, so he decided to show her. She was staring into the distance awaiting an answer, afraid to meet his eyes, fearing Kouga would walk away from her like everyone else when he was done with her.

“Kagome..” He started but gave up on that thought and hooked his finger under her chin directing her to face him. She gasped quietly when she saw the love shining bright in his eyes. He leaned down to kiss her it was like the world slowed down just for her, the distance between them closed and their lips touched, hesitantly at first but when Kagome relaxed against him and moaned quietly Kouga took that as the perfect opportunity to deepen the kiss. Kagome was at a loss, she never imagined a kiss being this amazing. He felt her lean into the kiss more and traced her bottom lip with his tongue lightly begging for entrance. He wanted nothing more than to explore her taste and memorize ever bit of her mouth. She parted her lips slightly moaning ever so quietly. He pounced on the opportunity and sought out her tongue through her parted lips. Gods she tastes better than I could have ever imagined! He thought to himself relaxing even more. This felt right, for both of them. Kouga broke the kiss leaving both of them breathless.

“Kouga…”Her voice was breathless and full of want. “I don't think I've ever felt anything like that before. I've never felt so comfortable in anyone's presence.” Kagome shifted in his lap, as comfortable as the kiss and his presence were you can only sit in someone's lap so long before you get uncomfortable.

Kouga was left speechless, in all his years, with all the women he's been with, he has never been so content with one and never had he experienced such an amazing kiss before. He wasn't sure what to say. When he felt her shift he realized his legs weren't very comfortable either, on the verge of falling asleep even. He shifted then so she was lying on his chest, stretched out in the cool grass. The sun had since set and they were left in darkness. “Kagome, there is nothing that will keep me from staying with you for as long as I will live. I love you Kagome and I'll understand if you're not ready it say those words then I'll wait as long as it takes for that too as long as it means that you'll stay by my side.”

Now it was Kagome's turn to be speechless. His words touched her heart. Though he had never been around before he still knew exactly what she wanted to hear. All she could do was snuggle into him closer. She decided on her wish finally.

Kouga stared up to the sky still wondering how he, of all people, ended up with this beautiful creature. If only she was a youkai like him it would be even more perfect.

Inuyasha trudged through his forest towards the hut he built close to the village for him and Kikyou. He wasn't ready to see her yet. He was trying to figure out how to take his Kagome back and stay alive. Kagome was serious about purifying him and he knew she had the power to do it, she probably had more power than Kikyou at this point and her heart was at least fifty times more pure. Kikyou was attractive yes, but she would never be as good as Kagome. He could see the hut in the clearing now Kikyou was outside waiting for him her hand over her stomach; her eyes were shining with joy.

He sighed, he wasn't ready to face her, she wasn't the same Kikyou anymore. He wasn't sure how it happened but after the fight with Naraku she somehow was reborn, with real flesh and blood and a new soul. Sure it was still Kikyou but she wasn't the same, she was so much more accepting. He being a hanyou was now her favorite thing about him. He wanted Kagome too, Kikyou wasn't enough. He had spent enough time sulking, he sighed. I guess it's time to go see what she's so happy about. He pepped himself up a bit and threw on a smile.

“Inuyasha! I'm so glad you're back! Where have you been all day!” Kikyou was exploding with excitement she wouldn't even let him answer the questions she was asking. “Yashyyy!” Guess what!” she waited a couple seconds, “I'm pregnant!!”

Well that about kills any plan to go bring Kagome back. Inuyasha's face faltered for just a second but she didn't notice he quickly embraced her and twirled her around. He was thrilled to hear it, he always had looked forward to being a daddy, just with Kagome, and it was far too late to realize it. He sighed inwardly. He would make do with Kikyou until the baby was born.

Kagome awoke to the sound of birds chirping and the sun hitting her face. She wondered for a brief moment where she was then remembered last night. She smiled brightly and snuggled back into Kouga. Somewhere during the night he had lost his armor, Kagome blushed at the realization that he didn't have anything covering his chest at the moment but couldn't help but explore with her fingers. Mmm, he's so muscley, yet soft and so comfortable, who knew such hard muscles could be so comfortable! Kagome moaned inwardly, Gods and his skin is so silky soft I don't think I've felt anything so wonderful. Kouga caught her hand as she was traveling lower towards his tummy button and cracked a grin at her.

“Are your fingers enjoying their journey Kagome?” Kouga asked, waggling his eyebrows a bit.

Kagome moaned a little when he started massaging the palm of her hand, “Mhmm, your skin is such a pleasure for the tips Kouga.” She longed to touch more of his skin, she wanted to memorize every muscle and every dimple. Sliding her hand out of his grasp she placed it firmly upon his chest and maneuvered herself over him to straddle his hips. He growled a bit at her taking such a dominant position but she just grinned wickedly at him, her mind was made up, she just needed to muster up the courage to tell him how she felt, but not before she made her wish.

“Comfy?” He asked after she got herself settled and laid down on his chest in the perfect position to attack his neck with kisses.

She mumbled something incomprehensible and started to lick and nip at his collar bone working her way up his neck, along his jaw and landed on his lips. After the kiss last night she could hardly resist yet another. This time however, it was her turn to explore, feeling a bit surer of herself than last night she bit at his bottom lip and hoped he would grant her the same access as she so willingly gave him the night before. Delighted when he did she languidly explored his mouth.

He was letting her have her fun for now, after all it was only fair. He rubbed his tongue against hers and she moaned into his mouth, completely melting against him. She could have never imagined a simple motion like that could be so pleasurable and hoped he'd do it again. Her reaction was too much for his inner wolf, he flipped them over so he was on top of her, breaking their kiss and venturing downward to explore the rest of her body. She moaned at the loss but he was sure he could make her feel even better.

His hands fluttered down her sides wiggling their way under her shirt, she gasped when she felt his hands against her skin, it was delightful and she wasn't sure how long she would be able to wait to feel the rest of his skin against hers. He began planting light, feathery kisses along her neck going down further as far as she would allow.

“Mm Kouga” she moaned not really wanting him to stop, but she knew he needed to. “We can't do this yet..” She sighed, his touch felt so good she wanted nothing more than for him to just continue touching but she had business she needed to attend to. “I need to visit my family one last time.”

At her last comment Kouga perked up and looked her in the face, what did she mean see her family one last time?

Seeing his quizzical expression Kagome sighed and closed her eyes for a few seconds, she needed to tell him. “Kouga, when I came here 5 years ago it wasn't because I traveled from another continent or something like that. I fell down an old well on my family's shrine and was attacked by a centipede youkai that wanted the Shikon Jewel that was in my body. I'm not from this time at all; in fact I'm from 500 years in the future. The jewel is what allows me to pass through the well between times and when I make my wish, the well will be sealed. I've decided I want to stay here wish you, and my wish will be to become a wolf youkai such as yourself.” Kagome looked away, not daring to meet his eyes, afraid he would reject her now that he knew the truth.

Kouga shifted off her to move into a sitting position next to her, he needed to think about this.

She looked at him briefly to see the troubled expression that crossed his face and sighed to herself, willing tears not to fall. She knew she shouldn't have told Kouga, now he'd leave her too. “I'm sorry. I should have told you before. I'll go now.”

As she started to shift to get up Kouga looked into her eyes, not sure whether to believe her or not seeing no deceit in her eyes, just sadness he began to speak, he didn't need to think about this at all. “Kagome, wait. I don't care where you're from, although it does explain your strange taste in clothing, I love you for you Kagome and I don't want you to go anywhere. As for your wish, I love you as a human and I'm sure I'm going to love you even more as one of my own kind.”

Kagome looked up at him with tearful eyes, “You mean it? You really don't care where I came from?” She was so hopeful he couldn't help but pull her into his lap, he loved feeling her there after all.

“Of course Kagome, why would anything change that, you're a beautiful young woman, and I am so honored to have you here with me.” Kouga brushed her tears away and kissed her lightly. “I love you Kagome, remember?”

She giggled at the last part, “How could I forget? When you first told me you would make me your woman I was skeptical, but now, now I couldn't believe it to be more true and some part of me must love you because for some reason my heart decided it would rather be the heart of a wolf demon.” She smiled at the last part. The prospect of becoming a demon not just for someone she loves but to do something for herself so she wouldn't feel so useless made her giddy.

“Kagome, are you telling me what I think you're telling me?” Kouga asked with a wolfish grin already knowing the answer.

“Ohhh perhaps.” She said with an equally wolfish grin. “Now to discuss the matter of me going home, could we go today? I really miss my family and I know I'm going to miss them even more after today.”

“Of course, anything for my woman.” Kouga set her on the forest floor briefly to replace his armor and picked her up bridal style and took off towards the well, elated that he would soon take Kagome as his mate, and a wolf demon mate no less! He almost clicked his heels with joy!

A/N Oh Joy! It's much longer than my last chapter! I'm excited to be writing again! I haven't written a thing in years! Perhaps I'll go revive my other stories!
