All That I'm Living For by Evanescence

All that I'm living for

All that I'm dying for

All that I can't ignore alone at night

I can feel the night beginning

Separate me from the living

Understanding me

After all I've seen

Piecing every thought together

Find the words to make me better

If I only knew how to pull myself apart

All that I'm living for

All that I'm dying for

All that I can't ignore alone at night

All that I'm wanted for

Although I wanted more

Lock the last open door

My ghosts are gaining on me

I believe that dreams are sacred

Take my darkest fears and play them

Like a lullaby

Like a reason why

Like a play of my obsessions

Make me understand the lesson

So I'll find myself

So I wont be lost again

All that I'm living for

All that I'm dying for

All that I can't ignore alone at night

All that I'm wanted for

Although I wanted more

Lock the last open door

My ghosts are gaining on me

Guess I thought I'd have to change the world

To make you see me

To be the one

I could have run forever

But how for would I have come

Without mourning your love

All that I'm living for

All that I'm dying for

All that I can't ignore alone at night

All that I'm wanted for

Although I wanted more

Lock the last open door

My ghosts are gaining on me

Should it hurt to love you

Should I feel like I do

Should I lock the last open door

My ghosts are gaining on me

Inuyasha frowned as he stared at the ground below him. Gripping the handle of the Tensusaiga in his hand, he was deep in thought. Although he had give Aliya to the wolf demon Koga so that he could focus on finding and defeating Naraku but he quickly found that she still weighed heavily on his mind.

He wondered if she was truly safe or if he had been kidding himself. Standing up from the tree branch he was seated upon Inuyasha leapt down. Landing hard, his ears flattened on his head. What if it's like before? What if... he didn't want to think of it but he couldn't stop the memory from playing itself within his mind's eye:

Inuyasha ran as hard and as fast as he could, gripping the handle of the Tetsusaiga tightly in his left hand. He pushed off with his feet, trying to gain enough speed but no matter how hard he pushed upon the ground it seemed that he wasn't going fast enough.

He had to find her... he had to! A frown of determination spread across his face. Inside his heart he prayed that he would make it in time. Suddenly he found himself in her forest and everything seemed different. Stopping the hanyou looked around.

The trees seemed to bow under an invisible weight. Their once bright green leaves were slowly turning a light shade of gray. Everything in the forest seemed to have fallen under a spell. Inuyasha felt his heart skip a beat.

Slowly he walked past the trees watching them as they bowed closer to the ground. The Hanyou opened his mouth. "Aeiru?" he called. The only sound that met his ears was dead silence. There were no birds singing, no crickets chirping. Not even the wind blew.

Inuyasha frowned as he saw something in the middle of the path to the lake. Approaching it, he tried to discern what it was. As he neared it, the realization of what it was struck him. "Aeiru..." he whispered as he rushed forward.

The beautiful demon laid crumbled in the dirt. The hanyou squated staring at her form. Slowly he stretched his hand out towards her and placed it upon her shoulder. Gently he pulled back turning her to face him.

Aeiru's face was pale. Her beautiful golden eyes that once held such life were now closed. Inuyasha touched her cheek gently and found her skin cold to the touch. He continued to stare at her hoping that she would open her eyes and smile at him in the way she would when he came to see her but she would never smile again. Unable to speak, the inu-hanyou carefully lifted the dead demon into his arms. Walking through the forest he slowly made his way to the center clearing.

He looked down at the face of the demon. Her long brown hair hung away from her face showing off her great beautiful features. He reached out with his long nail and raked it across her cheek. He could feel tears threatening to spill forth but he choked them back refusing to submit to them. After what seemed like hours he finally broke through the brush and found himself at her lake.

Inuyasha stared into the clear, undisturbed water. He looked back into her passive face. "Aeiru..." he whispered. Slowly he knelt down upon the shores of the lake, he leaned forward and laid her in the cold waters.

He watched as the lake swallowed her taking her into its hidden depths. Closing his eyes, he took a deep breath before opening them again. The waters were peaceful once again. "I hope I can find you... again..."

Inuyasha blinked away the last part of the memory. He had completely forgotten that he had whispered those words after he had placed her in the lake. Turning his head he frowned. He had never forgiven himself from stopping what had happened. Saving her from being killed. He was going to make everything right again.

Koga placed his hand reassuringly on the small of Aliya's back as he sniffed the air. He's close... the scent is strong.. Digging his feet into the ground he took off once again in the direction that he knew Inuyasha was in. Leaping up from the ground, he skid into a meadow.

Standing there staring off into the unknown. "Al..." Koga began but he realized that he didn't have to say anything as the young woman had climbed off his back. "INUYASHA!" she cried, running towards the hanyou.

The sound of her voice drew him out of his thoughts. Inuyasha turned his head watching her running towards him. What is she doing here? he thought. He hadn't wanted her to get caught in the inevidable fight between himself and Naraku. "Aliya..." he said his voice, strained with impatience.

The young woman stopped before him, clutching her hands together. She watched him with golden eyes. That caused Inuyasha to blink. Her demon side is starting to surface... Aliya bit gently on the corner of her bottom lip. "Inuyasha..." she said softly.

Inuyasha pulled Aliya into his arms. He held her against his body revealing in how she felt against him. Closing his eyes the inu-hanyou continued to hold her despite knowing that he should let go of her. There were no words to describe how he felt holding her.

He ran his claws through her long brown hair for a moment before pushing her off him. "WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE!?" he barked at her. Aliya's eyes narrowed. "Koga brought me here so that we could find you." "I CAN SEE THAT. Is it so hard for you to listen to me? I sent you to stay with the wolf tribe for a reason!"

"If it was to protect me from Naraku then you should know he appeared to me anyway," she hissed under her breath her golden eyes burning with anger. "What?" Inuyasha said. "He came to you?" Aliya shrugged as she stood up. The young woman dusted off her furs.

"Yes he came to me. He said there was things that he needed to tell me about what happened. He said the truth about it all..." Inuyasha grabbed Aliya's arms tightly and yanked her before him. His clawed fingers dug sharply into her flesh causing her to yelp from the pain. "Don't listen to anything that liar says to you!" he snapped.

Aliya closed her eyes and whimpered. "LET GO OF ME!" she screamed. "YOU LISTEN TO ME. NARAKU IS NOT A GOOD DEMON. HE IS GOING TO STOP AT NOTHING TO HURT YOU! I AM TRYING TO PROTECT YOU FROM HIM DO YOU UNDERSTAND!? HE IS NOT GOING TO TELL YOU THE TRUTH..." Inuyasha shouted into her face.

Within a blink of an eye, the hanyou found himself ten yards from where he stood and was picking himself out of a large crater. He winced as he looked at Aliya worried that a demon had attacked. But he was taken aback to see that Aliya's arm was raised with her palm out.

Her golden eyes were filled with rage and a darkness he had never seen in them. "Aliya?" he said, under his breath. Koga appeared at the hanyou's side. "Try not to anger her Inuyasha. She's just discovered her powers. And they are great indeed."

Inuyasha turned his golden gaze towards the okami before turning them back to watch Aliya's body to crumble in a faint. "Feh..." he grunted as he walked over to the young woman and picked her up in his arms. "So she's starting to become her..."
Koga watched him. "What will you do now?"

"What I should have been doing in the beginning," Inuyasha said. He turned his face back to Koga. "Protect her from Naraku..."
