Sweet Sacrifice by Evanescence
It's true, we're all a little insane
But its so clear
Now that I'm unchained
Fear is only in our minds
Taking over all the time
Fear is only in our minds
But its taking over all the time
You poor sweet innocent thing
Dry your eyes and testify
You know you live to break me don't deny
Sweet sacrifice
One day I'm gonna forget your name
And one sweet day
You're gonna drown in my lost pain
Fear is only in our minds
Taking over all the time
Fear is only in our minds
But its taking over all the time
You poor sweet innocent thing
Dry your eyes and testify
And oh you love to hate me don't you honey
I'm your sacrifice
(I dream in darkness
I sleep to die
erase the silence
erase my life
our burning ashes
blacken the day
a world of nothingness
blow me away)
Do you wonder why you hate
Are you still too weak to survive your mistakes
You poor sweet innocent thing
Dry your eyes and testify
You know you live to break me don't deny
Sweet sacrifice
Naraku carried the young woman into his palace. He looked down at her sleeping form as he walked down the quiet dark hallway. She shared many features with Aeiru although this young woman had a stronger, independent will. He entered into his room and laid her down. The demon reached out and picked up strands of her hair from her face. He gently placed the loose strands behind her right ear. Naraku slowly slid his nail down her cheek before running it on the underside of her chin.
"I will not lose you to that pathetic excuse for a demon," he whispered as he leaned down closer to her. He pressed his lips against her temple and held it there releshing in the warmth of her skin. Sliding his hands underneath her body he brought her up and pressed her against his chest. Closing his eyes he could feel her heartbeat against his. It was as if they're hearts beat as one. Running his clawed fingers through her soft brown hair, he stroked her in an almost affectionate manner.
After holding her for a moment longer, the demon slowly laid the sleeping young woman down. Her lips parted slowly as she let out a soft sigh of breath. She was waking. Quickly Naraku withdrew from her side and sat on the opposite side of the room. He leaned his bare back against the cool wooden wall of his inner chamber and waited for her to awaken.
Aliya awoke on a woven bamboo mat. Slowly raising herself up, she looked around to find that she was in a darkened room. "Where am I?" she whispered to herself. "You are with me..." The young woman turned towards the sound of the voice to see Naraku watching her every movement. She reached up and brushed her fingers through her hair straightening them from their disheveled state.
Unable to break her gaze away from the demon, Aliya continued to stare into his red crimson eyes. Although they did not appear as hard as she had seen them become, they still held an unbelievable coldness in their depths. The young woman bit down lightly upon her bottom lip, drawing it slightly into her mouth. She held her breath as she finally tore her gaze away and let it fall to the floor.
The silence that enveloped the room was chilling to a degree but also spoke volumes in itself as demon and human sat in the room. Finally after what seemed as an eternity, Aliya lifted her gaze from the floor. "Naraku..." she began. Her words halted in her throat. She was unable to find the words to express what she wanted, what she needed to know about the past. "What happened?"
Naraku continued to watch her in silence. He looked away from her, seeing the desperation in her eyes. "That... will have to wait..." he said as he stood up and walked over to her. He leaned down and took her arm tightly in his hand. Pulling her to her feet, he stood her before him. "Right now..." he said. "There is much... much..." His voice faded as he pulled her into his arms.
Aliya did not know what to say or how to respond. Inuyasha said that he was a bad demon... but... he doesn't seem to be all that bad to me. I need to find out what happened and if finding out means I have to stay here.. then I will. The young woman closed her eyes allowing herself the luxury of enjoying the moment.
Finally Naraku stepped back from her and turned, walking out of his room. "Where are you taking me?" Aliya asked. "To your room. Unless you prefer to stay in mine..." Aliya's cheeks tinted at the thought. "Um... no..." she whispered. "As I thought..." The demon continued to pull the young woman through the dark hallway until they reached sliding doors. Reaching out he slid the door open and revealed a beautifully furnished room.
Unlike his own, this rom was not devoid of furniture. A small bed of blankets, furs and pillows were placed before the western wall. A pure white kimono was placed on top of the bed. Aliya stepped into the room and slowly went to her bed. Kneeling before the kimono she touched the soft fabric. She ran her fingertips over the obi and into the inner lining. "This... I have seen this before..." she whispered to know one but herself.
Naraku smirked. "It was your favorite..." he said. The young woman turned her face to look back at him. Her golden eyes had widened in surprise. She slowly returned her gaze back to the kimono. "Try it on..." Aliya nodded her head and she heard Naraku step outside the room and shut the door behind him. Standing up from the bed, Aliya pulled off the fur clothes that Koga had given her.
Letting the furs drop to her feet she slowly picked up the under lining of her kimono and slipped it onto her body. Layer upon layer she pulled them on until she had 15 layers. Barely able to move, she slipped on her top and final layer before turning towards her door when she heard it slide open. Naraku entered into her room, never taking his eyes off her.
The young woman dropped her gaze timidly towards the floor underneath his watchful eye. "What?" she whispered. "Hn..." was all he said as he stepped forward. He reached out and smoothed down her hair. Once he was satisfyed with the way she looked he stepped back and let his hands fall to his sides. "Follow me..." Naraku said as he led her out of her room.
He led her into the hall where a table was ladden with food. The demon gently pushed her towards the table before putting her in a chair. "Eat..." he said. The young woman began to eat and watched Naraku as he sat at the head of the table. He didn't touch anything on his plate only continued to watch her as she ate. Aliya stood poised with her chopsticks right before her full lips. "Ahhh..." she said.
"Finish your meal...." he said, quietly. Aliya nodded her head before putting the chopsticks in her mouth and quickly finished her dinner. When her plate was empty, Naraku pushed back his chair and helped her stand. Aliya followed the demon back towards her bedroom and entered. He turned towards her and placed his hands on her shoulders. "It is late... sleep... all will be revealed tomorrow..." he kissed her forehead before leaving her alone in her room.
Once alone Aliya moved over to her bed and sat down upon it. Leaning against the wall the young woman stared at the door of her room. What am I doing? Why am I here? He could hurt me... like Inuyasha said... oh no... Inuyasha... he must be beside himself... Aliya frowned to herself. But if I go now...... I'll never find out the truth... I guess I'm just going to have to except this. She closed her eyes and let sleep overcome her.
