CHAPTER 32: FRAMED

Miroku strode down the hall, late to History, like always. He really didn't how it started, but it was clockwork with him now. Always be late to history. You must be late. He shrugged and switched his book to his other hand. He shoved his other hand in his pocket, and felt the paper there. He smiled. He future plans, his next steps were on there. For some odd reason, he just wrote down what he wanted from life. College was one thing for sure. Of course, that was after he graduated duh. So graduate, got to college, get a job, marry, and have kids like he always wanted. And he knew exactly who that was going to be. But right now was high school. Which meant being stupid, acting like kids, and going to parties. Speaking of parties, that one after the tournament was pretty freaky. Since Inuyasha didn't beat Kenshin, they settled for a shot contest. That was funny. Of course, with his demon blood, Inuyasha won, but poor Karou had to hold Kenshin's hair when Kenshin took one shot too many. Then there was dancing, and uh…cough…a certain lap dance that uh…ad him dragging Sango to his house. And from what he heard, Kagome and Inuyasha disappeared some time after that, which left Karou to tending to Kenshin's headache by herself. Too bad, but his night certainly ended good. Well, very good.

This was going to work, she knew it. Sano was in their class and knew he was late every time to History. Good thing Sano was in on it or this thing wouldn't work. In exactly five minutes, she had timed it, he would be walking down the hall to his class, and she would meet him there. Sano knew her part, though as reluctant as she was. But it was pay back time, and sometimes, revenge is so sweet. She looked at her watch. Show time.

And right when she knew he would Miroku walked right on down the hall towards History, head high and a carefree gait. He had one book in one hand and the other was in his pocket. She smiled wickedly. This was going to be oh so sweet. And Miroku walked, minding his own business, when out of the locker shadows, came someone he really didn't expect to see.

"Hi Miroku."

"Uh…hi Koharu, what's up?" she only smiled and bit her lip shyly. Miroku raised a brow, but shook his head. He went to continue on his way.

"Miroku?"

he paused in mid-stride and looked back up at koharu. She was looking down at her sneakers and held her hands behind her. She gave him a shy glance and bit her lip again. He straightened.

"Uh, yeah?"

Koharu took a peek at her watch. She'd have to work fast. "Well, I wanted to ask you something."

He nodded, "okay, what?"

She glanced at her watch. Now. "Do you want me?"

"Wha-"

But before he could finish, Koharu pounced as planned and pinned him against the lockers with a loud bang. His eyes went wide with surprise then revolt and he tried to push her off. She only avoided him, and slithered over him, making him gag.

"Koharu what the hell are you doing?!"

"Anything I want."

The last straw was when a hand went south of the border, and he gasped. But anger snapped and he growled before pushing her off completely. She went for him again and, not noticing her satisfied eyes, spun her and pinned her to the lockers by her wrists. His face was mere inches from hers, angry eyes boring into her. For a brief second, Koharu's mind was second guessing her intention, but she let it go. Cause right now, phase two is almost over.

"Koharu, I don't know who you think you are, but I swear-!" but he was cut short as the door to Histroy opened.

Sango reclined in her seat, Mr. Myouga's voice droning on and on about some war or something. Half the students were already asleep and she was about to go too. The only thing that would make this class exciting was if Miroku wasn't always late. She smiled. Yes that might just make things interesting if they had some time before class like normal on time students, but who ever said Miroku was normal? And that's just what she loved about him, among other aspects. She loved his handsome face, his smile, his laugh, his kiss, his hands, his…okay, so she just loved him. And he loved her, and that thought alone made her heart jump for joy. It was quite a puzzle though, the school's former lecher was now straight headed and in love with her. She had to admit, he's been good. He hasn't looked at other girls, touched others girls, and used his famous pick up line (we all know what that is). So what the hell? She'll let him have some fun during class, as long as she got in on it too. Her smile turned wicked. She loved to tease him.

While two seats behind her sat her friends, but the seat just behind her was the one she had to look out for. Sano shifted in her seat, glancing at the clock, trying to look like she was paying attention. How that made a difference was beyond her but she was nervous. Was she doing the right thing? By helping Koharu? She didn't know what it was, but she had a really bad feeling about this. I mean like you know you're doing a mean joke, but something inside you is telling you to turn back. But she was going to go through with it anyways, like the idiot she is. Click, another minute went by. Okay, stop being so nervous, your going to give yourself away. Her knee bounced under her desk. Looking at the clock, she hid her class notebook in her bag, which caught Kagome's attention, but she thought nothing of it. Click. Now.

"Pst! Sango!" Sano whispered and leaned forward. Sango turned slightly and leaned back her chair to listen.

"Yeah?"

"I think I left my notebook in your locker, can you get it?"

Sango turned fully, and looked at Sano's desk, confused. "But I thought you had it?"

Sano shook her head, a bit too quickly. "Wrong one. Can you get it?"

"Why don't you go?"

"I don't know your combination. Please?"

Sango rolled her eyes and sighed. Miroku will just have to wait. "All right."

"Thank you so much Sango."

Sango only shrugged. What was so important about a notebook? Well, she'd never know. Sango raised her hand, and Mr. Myouga nodded at her.

"Can I go to my locker, I forgot my notebook."

"Ms. Taijiya, you do realize you're not supposed to go to your locker during class?"

"I know, but I have notes in there that I need. Please?"

Mr. Myouga scowled at her, but nodded. "Just this once, but come back immediately."

"Yes sir." Sango got up and turned to give Sano a `you better thank me' look. Sano smiled. Sango went up and got the hall pass, signed it, and walked out the door. She turned left, and looked up. And her world dead in front of her. The door clicked shut and the hall pass clattered to the floor from her limp fingers. No…no, she was seeing things. It couldn't be, she didn't want to believe it. But a tear rolled down her cheek, telling her sit was real. No! He wasn't there, he wasn't in the hall. Kissing another girl. Her breath heaved.

But she didn't see how disgusted he was, or how surprised, and how he pushed away from Koharu wiping his mouth clean. What is with this girl? Just because he tried to stop her doesn't mean he wanted to kiss her. God, he felt violated! And all Koharu did was smile evilly, a secret in her eyes. And he didn't notice her until the hall pass fell, making a racket. His head whirled around, and he froze like a deer caught in the headlights of a truck. He started panting, his mouth run dry.

"Sango…"

She started shaking her head very slowly, "you bastard…"

Miroku stepped her way, holding out a hand. "Please, Sango I can explain."

She backed with each step he took. "Explain what Miroku? That you've played me? Like all your other so called `girlfriends'? How many are there Miroku? How many have you said `I love you' to?"

Koharu gasped in shock behind him, but he ignored it. He had to fix this, somehow. "Please, Sango just please listen to me-"

She shook her head vigorously, and held up her hands, still backing up. The tears wouldn't stop. "No! No, I've listened to enough of your lying bullshit! How you told me I was the only one, the only one you could love. How you said you loved me when you kissed me, a kiss you've probably given to others. No Miroku, I'm done listening. I'm done with you."

With shaking fingers, Sango unclasped the tennis bracelet that she never went a day with out. And threw it at his frozen feet. Not trusting herself to remain calm, she turned tail and ran. Out the building, to the side walks, and to wherever her feet thought safe. Her heart leaving a trail of broken glass behind her.

And Miroku could only stare after her, hand reaching out to something that ran form him. His whole world. He laid a hand on his chest. And felt nothing. No pulse, no heat, no life. For his heart had died in his chest. He looked down, and saw the bracelet he had given her, the thing that he had hoped would suffice until he could get what he really wanted. He knees wobbled, and he fell to them, scooping the bracelet with a gentle hand. His shoulders lumped and he breathed deeply as the full impact of what she said came to him. She left him, she ran from him. She left him all alone.

Koharu watched with wide eyes. She had no idea, no idea that it was that deep. She had no idea they were in love. She thought it was just one of his flings that had fallen into infatuation with him and would snap out of it if they saw him with another girl. But no, they were in love. Not had been, but were. Koharu had seen it, the broken hearted look in Sango's eyes, her pale face and betrayed tears. And Koharu knew, she just made the biggest mistake of her seventeen years. Tears of her own threatened, and she slowly stepped to a still kneeling Miroku. She reached out a hand to him.

"Miroku?" she whispered.

His grip on the bracelet tightened, and his posture stiffened, making her flinch back.

"Miroku, I'm-"

"Leave."

His tone was empty, hollow and cold, and she shivered. "Miroku, please I'm so sorry-"

"No your not. This was what you wanted, wasn't it?" he turned and laid frozen eyes on her, making her shake. "You did this on purpose. Well, you got what you wanted. Now leave. I never want to see you, hear, or even know you exist ever again."

And with that, he got up and shuffled down the hall, an empty shell of what he was. Koharu stood frozen to her place in the hall, staring after a broken hearted boy who had just lost everything that mattered to him. Just as he rounded the corner to the doors, Kagome opened the door looking out.

"Hey Koharu. Are you okay? Have you seen Sango?"

Koharu barely acknowledged her, the guilt clogging her throat. Kagome crossed her brows, and noticed Sango's hall pass on the floor. She walked up to Koharu cautiously.

"Koharu what happened?"

"I didn't know…I didn't know they were in love."
