CHAPTER 39: THE SHOW

There was just something about Ferris wheels and enjoying it with your soul mate. You were up so high and could everything. Not just the fair or the people, but in the distance, the city lights as life lived on. In that city, people worked. A mother gave birth in the hospital. A hooker turned tricks. A bum slept in a box. A baby stopped crying cause her mother came to comfort her. To just know life was there, going on and on, it got you excited. As to see the light filled landscape it created, it made it feel like a fair tale. That's what you would right? We're on top of the world, watching it glitter and sparkle. Just a moment in time…

Well, its too bad Kagome and Inuyasha didn't see it, they were busy at the moment on top of that Ferris wheel.

Inuyasha dipped his tongue deeper into Kagome mouth, massaging her tongue nicely. She moaned a response and gripped the hair at the nape of his neck, pressing to the fullest against him. It was by odd chance that they were the only ones on that ten-person car, and they took full advantage. Kagome was currently on Inuyasha's lap, making out hard and bruising lips. He grabbed her hips and pulled her closer, making her head tip back, exposing her neck to him. He trailed open-mouthed kisses down it, nipping lightly at her flesh and making her shiver. She leaned into him and closed her eyes, loving the sensations coursing through her.

"WOULD YOU GUYS STOP SUCKING FACE AND GET THE FREAK DOWN HERE!!!" Kagome and Inuyasha jumped away from each other looked over the edge of the car. Kagome blushed to the roots of her hair when she saw that they had an audience, for how long she didn't know. Sango was down there, a huge black tiger in her arms, scowling and Miroku was trying not to laugh his ass off. Kagome broke down into giggles and slide to the bottom of the car, and Inuyasha ran a hand through his hair. Just then, the car jerked to life and they made their way down. They got off holding hands, avoiding the eyes of anyone, holding in laughter. They met up with their rinds, and Sango raised a brow.

"I think you guys made that twelve year old's day, that grin is way too goofy," Miroku commented, looking at the kid who was blushing yet smiling at the same time, glancing at his friends.

Inuyasha growled and Kagome giggled madly. Sango just sighed loudly and walked off with Miroku, " come on, we're gonna miss the show."

Kagome cheered up, "Time to make fun of the loser who has the misfortune of doing it tonight."

"You know, I love you more and more with time," Inuyasha commented and they laughed as they followed their friends. Thought it took some time, and a lot of pushing, they finally made it to the other side of the fair, where a stage had been set up. Most of the seats had been taken, but it was easy enough o find a place to sit.

"Got here in time, its about to start," Sango said and snuggled closer next to Miroku. He smiled happily and put his arm around her, and Kagome nestled in next to Inuyasha, who leaned his head on hers.

Everything went black. The lights went out, and the stage was silent. They looked around and saw the rest of the fair was still going on. Kagome was about to say something, but she turned her head around. And blinked. She could have sworn she saw…a glowing strand of something. "What was that?"

"What?" Inuyasha asked, but didn't see anything out of the ordinary.

"Nothing," she flicked her eyes around the dark. There! Another one! And two more! She tilted her head up and gasped. The light from the fair reflected off of all the strand of…hair?

"Ladies and gentlemen…" a smooth female voice boomed over the speaker, and smoke came form the stage. Small lights were lit, and Kagome saw that they created a glittering effect as they reflect off the hair. That was still creepy to think about. "I…am the master of illusion…"

A bundle of hair rose from the stage, or that's what Kagome saw. Everybody else saw a glittering ball of light floating above the stage, rising steadily. "The vibrant and skillful…Yura of the Hair!"

The ball exploded in a mass of light, making the crowd cheer loudly as the sound effects died down, and a small woman stood in mid air. Kagome gasped. Form her hands came hair, and she walked upon it like it was solid ground. The woman herself was a shocker. She was scantly clad in black spandex, two wide straps covering her breasts, and a mini skirt with sash. She had short black hair and childish face, her had lips turned up smugly. Sango glanced at Miroku, but found he was looking at something on his shirt. She sighed relieved.

Yura raised a hand, and sparkling light rain down, the hair glittering. "Welcome to the annual fair of Beachside Shores! I am Yura of the Hair, and I will be entertaining you tonight with tricks of the mind."

Yura hopped down from her hair and walked about the stage, the microphone of her head in place. "Now, most people think that hypnotizing is fake. Well, in some cases that's true, but tonight, I will baffle the mind with an amazing turn of events. You there! Come up here with the yellow cat!"

They looked to the right and saw a girl with short brown hair get excitedly and ran to the stage. She was giggling by the time she got there. "And what's your name young lady?…Mina? Well, mina what if I told you, that I need your help?" the girl just laughed, "Yes well, I do. Along with two other people. You sir, with the gray hat, and…you right there, with the green shirt."

To people stood and got up on stage. One was a blonde man, maybe six feet and the other was brunette girl giggling happily. "Now for this trick, I need you all to Sleep."

Kagome saw as three strands of hair wrapped around their necks and squeezed slightly, pushing a pressure point to make them sleep. Their heads slumped forward and they fell asleep standing. Inuyasha snorted. "It was all planned."

Kagome would almost agree. I mean, the woman's using hair to control the person. Yura smiled as the crowd cheered. "Good, their sleep. Now what would be the most embarrassing thing that's ever to you?…what?…a public scene? That's good I`ll use that. Now," she placed her hand on the Mina's head, "everybody see that security guard in the yellow shirt there? Good, his name is Ryko. Now, for the one whose head I'm touching, every time I say `flower', you're gonna go over there, and flirt with Ryko, claiming he's your long lost love." Yura grinned as the crowd laughed. She put her hand on the blonde guy's shoulder, "now, for the one whose shoulder I'm touching, you're going to get mad at the one who's flirting and rant that she's cheating on you. This will be when ever I say `my, my'." Lastly, she placed her hand on the brunette's forehead. "And the one whose forehead I'm touching, when I say `here we go', you'll get mad at Ryko and start crying. And to all of you, whenever I say `awake!' you wake up and realized what you did. Now wake up!"

All the people on stage woke as the hair's left their necks and Yura waved them off, "thank you for entertaining us, you may sit."

Yura kept her smug smile as they three went to sit down. The minute they did, she started up again, "now, I don't know about, but I think every girl likes to get a FLOWER now and then."

Suddenly mina got up and started heading to Ryko the security guard, who was trying not to laugh. They saw as she hugged him and started acting girlish and was all over him. Yura raised her brow, "MY, MY…"

Then the blonde got and stared ranting for no apparent reason, "what the hell are you doing?! Are you cheating on me?!?!"

By this time, most people were laughing hard as the unsuspecting Ryko tried to hold it together. Yura chimed in, "here we go…"

Suddenly the brunette ran up to them red faced and started crying hysterically. Yura just shook her head and waited a minute. "Alright! Awake!"

The shouting, flirting and crying stopped, and the three looked at each other confused, then busted out laughing at what they had done. Yura laughed too and signaled for silence. "No but really, I want good participation up here. Some one, who doesn't really believe. Some one who I can prove wrong."

Her eyes scanned the crowd, looking for the right person who matched her qualifications. Just then, she saw some one. "You sir, with the red hat, come on up."

He snorted but his girlfriend urged him up and stalked on up to the stage, "please tell me your name."

"Inuyasha." He said bluntly, crossing his arms. She just nodded her head and flicked her wrist.

"Sleep." And with that, Inuyasha slumped forward. His friends grinned at each other. "Now Inuyasha, say yes if you're paying attention."

Inuyasha raised his head, his eyes blank, "yes."

"Good. Now, I'm going to ask something private, something you'd want no one else to know. Inuyasha, what are you afraid of?"

"Losing Kagome."

Yura `awed' and looked to the crowd. "Isn't that sweet, Kagome stand up, show everybody what a wonderful man you've got!"

The crowd cheered as Kagome shyly stood and did a little wave and sat down. Yura grinned, "lucky girl. But I'm afraid that's not gonna do it. No Inuyasha, I want to know more. Tell me," she lowered her voice. Leaning close up behind him, facing the audience "tell me your darkest secret…"

The crowd hushed as silence came from Inuyasha, his head bowed. They were expectant, eager to know what the boy could be afraid of. But not Kagome. She gasped and her eyes went wide. What…what was this feeling? It felt like an icicle ran down her back yet a fire was burning in her. What was going on? She was hit with a wave of nausea, and she doubled over in pain.

"Kagome! What's wrong?!" Sango panicked and tried to lift her friend in pain. Kagome panted for breath. It felt like some one was after her soul.

She looked up at the stage and started sweating worried. "I don't know…"

Yura backed away from the boy, watching wide eyed as he trembled violently and was growling so deep it was heard to believe it came from him. In that same growling rumbling voice he spoke, sending chills down spines.

"Myself…"

Inuyasha snapped opened his eyes. His blood red eyes.
