Dog-Ears

 

He lay next to her on the bed as she sat cross legged engrossed in one of her books. Inu Yasha had insisted on staying until after her exam the next day to ensure she returned as soon as possible. He let his mind wander as he remained quiet so as not to interrupt her studying, but was pulled back to attention as Kagome jumped up off the bed suddenly.

“Arrg! I hate dog-ears!” She said; her teeth tightly clenched.

Inu Yasha opened his mouth searching for something to say as she tossed the book on the bed and stormed out of the room.

Confused, he reached up to scratch his head. “But I thought she liked my ears.”

Kagome, unaware of the pouting puppy on her bed, kicked open the door to her brother's room.

“Souta,” she spat, “that is the last time I lend you a book!”
