Kagome reached her house in record time. Taxi service was apparently very good at this time of night. Sighing she unlocked her front door and dropped her keys on the side table. What a long day. Granted she had an amazing time with Sango, but she was very glad to be home. The nights of no sleep were catching up to her as she mounted the stairs on the way to her room. After a quick shower she settled into bed and was quickly asleep.

Kagome flew up in bed, her hair flying around her in a rush. `Not again.' She groaned softly to herself. She couldn't keep not sleeping through the night. This had to end sometime, and soon. All of a sudden she heard it again, a noise. This is what had woken her up, not the usual dreams. There was someone in her house. Softly she got out of bed and crossed the room. Mounted on the wall was an antique sword set. She quickly grabbed the razor sharp katana and tucked the small tanto into the waistband of her pajama pants. She unsheathed the katana and stealthily made her way down the steps and into the main corridor of the house. She could hear someone or something rustling around near the front door and advanced as quietly as she could. Seeing a dark form she leveled her katana at his back and cleared her throat.
“Excuse me, can I help you?”
The figure spun around with a growl before noticing the sword aimed directly at him.
“Don't move. This thing will cut right through you, and I don't really have a problem doing just that. I'm calling the cops.” Kagome stated as she backed away slowly, intent on reaching the light switch so that she could see her intruder. Unfortunately that gave him the opportunity that he needed. In a flash he was on her, knocking the blade out of his way, though not out of her hand. He had his arms wrapped tightly around her waist, but she swiftly head butted him, causing him to stagger back momentarily. A hard kick to his stomach had him doubling over in pain and allowing her to maneuver the katana back into place. Aimed right at him. Regardless of her previous remark, she really didn't want to kill anyone. Especially not over trying to rob her or something inane like that. Her eyes widened as the shadow stood again and simply grabbed the blade of the katana, slicing deeply into his hand, but still managing to rip it out of her stunned grasp. His hands closed around her shoulders tightly, trying to hold her still as she struggled in his grasp.
Suddenly the figure growled again, his youkai coming up to meet her aura. She knew what she could do to stop this before it got even more out of hand than it was already. She grabbed the tanto from her belt and unsheathed it in one smooth motion while planting both of her feet on the intruder's chest and kicking him back into the wall opposite them. He hit hard, but didn't lose his grip on her the entire time.
Suddenly the tanto started to glow silver blue with her miko powers as she concentrated her energy into the dagger. Making a lunging motion she was able to wrench one arm out of his grasp when he was distracted by her aura. Concentrating even more she plunged the blade into her attacker's shoulder, going directly through and pinning him to the wall behind him. Too late the shadow realized what particular kind of glow it was, a sealing barrier. A soft whimper was all he uttered before the world around him went black. His hands went limp as he slipped into unconsciousness, allowing her to dislodge herself from his grip.
Kagome was shaking. She had been trained as a miko since a very young age, but this was the very first time she had to use her energy to hurt another living soul. Granted this person was breaking into her house and had who knows what intentions with her, but still. She slowly backed away from him as he hung, slightly suspended from the wall. All she could see was a vague shape of where he was. She realized suddenly that it was still completely dark in the house. Slowly she moved to the switch in the wall and flipped it on. Turning to her would be attacker she gasped. This was the last thing she had ever expected to see.
