Chapter seven, Zoo fun!

Kagome sits in the kitchen poking her pancake around with a silver fork.

She's alone, for the first time since the party and it felt nice but someone was occupying her mind - InuYasha.

There was something about him that made her all tingly and dizzy, but what was it? Lust? Just a desperate woman who NEEDED what she saw in him, danger?

She mentally snorts, while leaning back in the chestnut brown kitchen chair, 'how could he be dangerous? Because you got aroused by just looking at him', came the answer one that she was knew was very true.

A smile tugged in the corner of her deep pink lip, his little girl.

What a little angel, something about that child made her want to be the one who gets to tuck her in at night, read bedtime stories and go clothe shopping.

But of course, that wouldn't happen she was to marry six months from now, in the summer - to Hojo.

Hojo, everything about him was lame and innocent, he was like a kid never wanting to do anything that would rush your blood or completely spontaneous.

Nope, for Hojo and his father - everything had its time and its place.

Kagome wanted to see the world, taste it and hold it, even if it was for one time only, she wanted to taste InuYasha - 'BREAK! TIME OUT! What? No, no she meant danger! Excitement and okay, maybe a bite of that gorgeous white haired hunk.' She giggled at that and decides to throw away her pancake, it was cold and nasty by now.

The kitchen maid throws her an evil eye for throwing away good food, but she was way to tired and at the same time, way to excited to care.

Tomorrow would be the first day at her job, she couldn't wait to start - anything that required her to be away from this house was great.

Walking down the sunlit corridor leading to her room she stops to listen, silence. Sighing in bliss she does the only thing she can think of - call Sango.

After a few rings a male voice answers, at this she frowns.

"Miroku, why you answering Sango's phone?"

She could hear the perverted man, her friend was dating - someone who always seemed to grab woman's butt when he thought his Sango wasn't looking - laugh and then call for Sango.

"Kagome?" chimed the voice that could only belong to her dear friend.

"Sango, what are you doing today? I can actually leave the house, want to go out?"

She could hear Sango squeal on the other side of the line, "SURE!"

Making the arrangements they decided to go to the Zoo, maybe this was childish but Kagome had yet to see the animal center and it would be nice to walk outside even if it was kinda cold.

Grabbing her winter jacket, boots and scarf, Kagome scribbles down a note for her fiancee - which she knew wouldn't be home until late and by then she'd be back and in the bed.

But it was better being safe then sorry.

Taking her car key's, she was happy that the old man had allowed her to take her drivers license, it came in handy times like these.

One hour later....

Kagome Higurashi finds herself outside the Zoo gates, it wasn't biting cold today but actually pretty warm as the sun shined from a pretty cloud free January sky.

There was still a good thirty minutes before Sango and Miroku would show up, but she couldn't wait to leave the jail ( as she liked to call it) and just be by herself for a change.

And once again her thoughts traveled to the man in her dreams since that party, InuYasha. How could someone she just met plague her mind when all she really knew about him was that he was a doctor and had a child, oh a child... that meant a mother too, right? But where was she? Maybe they had broken up? Maybe she was sick?

'Stop thinking about him already!' She mentally slapped herself, cringing she tried to advert her thoughts elsewhere.

However, that didn't go as planed for as soon as she stopped thinking about him, a loud squeal, that of a child in pure excitement, was heard.

Turning around just in time to catch a flying Sorano, who jumped up attaching herself to her.

Kagome gulped, this meant that InuYasha was nearby - 'oh Kami let it be her mother this time, let it be...' but nope, either the Kami didn't exist or the mother was the worst mother ever, for there not even a feet away stood the sexy white haired man, again.

"Kagome!" The little girl chimed, happy as ever to see the black haired woman again. Hugging her tight, Sorano laughed - she had thought she'd never get to see this woman again.

"Hi Sorano" Kagome laughed at the child's excitement, hugging her back.

"My daddy is taking me to the Zoo!" The girl chirped, pointing to InuYasha who was now smiling like a god.

Kagome had to shake her head a little, he was way to perfect something must be wrong with this man - but what?

"Is he now?"

InuYasha who hadn't said a word until now, laughed hearty at his girl and Kagome's stunned expression, "Is that so hard to believe?"

"N-no!" She replies, putting Sorano down while looking around for her rescue team - Sango and Miroku, however they were nowhere in sight.

Standing up she finds herself a little to close to InuYasha and takes a step back, only to hear a low growl. 'Where did that come from?'

Once again not having tome to debate on her thoughts, Sorano breaks the spell - "Are you walkin with us? Daddy can Kagome come with us?"

Kagome was about to protest when out of the blue, Sango and Miroku shows up "Sure we'll all walk together!" her best friend chimed, "it's such a nice day and the more the greater, right?"

Sorano looks up and recognizes Miroku who is smiling down at her, "Miro!" She exclaimed once again, running to hug her daddy's friend.

"Sora my girl!" He kneels down just to catch her just in time, peppering her cheek with kisses.

Sorano giggles and tells him to stop, but he instead just lifts her up effortlessly and places her on his shoulders. "Ready to go?" He asks and starts moving toward the entrance, "Let's go!" Sorano chimes out loud, pointing at the gates.

Kagome feels nervous all of the sudden but then again Sango was there, right? Wrong! For Sango now walked side by side with Miroku while conversing with Sorano, who was the happiest kid in the world riding on Miroku's shoulders.

Which left her and InuYasha to walk side by side, alone.

"So I heard you're getting married, congratulations," he said before he could stop himself, biting hard on his tongue when he realized what he had just said. Just like him, mess everything up, and do it right away.

Kagome froze for a moment, but finally nodded in defeat. She really didn't want to talk about Hojo or her life today, for it wasn't her best subject.

Changing the path of the conversation quickly, however, Kagome soon relaxed and found it pleasant to be in this mans company. InuYasha found out more about this extreme beauty by his side, she was into literature and gardening like himself.

"I'm growing roses outside my house," he said smiling "you'll have to come and see them sometime."

"Sure," she answered before thinking, Hojo's father would never let her go visit another mans house, she should be happy she was even allowed to have Sango as a friend.

She hated making empty promises and quickly saved herself by saying "if it's okay by her fiancee of course."

InuYasha frowns he didn't like the idea of this woman being taken, at all. He wanted her, just as much as she wanted him. Maybe she didn't know it yet, but he could show her - No! No! She's taken and there is nothing your going to show her but being a friend, is all!

Yeah, she was taken, but damn it, Was he tempted!

"Did you go to medical school?" Kagome's question brought his lust filled mind back to reality.

"Yes I went to Harvard," he snickered softly at her stunned expression.

"I would love to go there, was it just as grand as you imagined it?"

InuYasha smiled sadly, knowing her story and seeing her telling him about her dreams ripped him apart inside - it was all so tragic.

He proceeded telling her about his classes, the professors and everything else he had experienced. If she couldn't go at least he'd be a gentlemen and tell her how it was.

Kagome had a vivid imagination and soon walked dreamy eyed next to him, sighing in bliss.

"Must of been great," She whispered as they stopped to look at some polar bears.

"It was." He was suddenly really close again, all her nerves and senses tingled with a warning or was it anticipation?

However, once again the spell was broken when a small hand found its way into each of theirs - effectively breaking them apart.

"Daddy, I am hungy." Sorano complained nodding down to her belly.

"Well I guess we should go and eat then." InuYasha replied and soon they all walked into the Zoo restaurant, Sorano jumping between Kagome and InuYasha still holding their hands.

Kagome had trouble getting through that dinner, as she found herself next to InuYasha in the large booth they had picked. His warm leg brushed against hers more then a few times, he was so close and smelt so good her head was wrapped up in a pink fluffy cloud.

The only thing that kept her from allowing herself to enjoy these touches was the thought of Hojo. She would not and could not betray him, she refused too.

She might not love him, but she was going to keep the promise she'd made - Souta was attending an expensive university, and by breaking the promise she would jeopardize his career - and that was something that now snapped her mind out of the gutter.

Not before long, the day soon ended and the friends separated. InuYasha didn't want Kagome to leave, but what choice did he have? None.

Sorano hugged Kagome tight before letting her get into her car, once again driving off - out of their life's.

"Daddy," the little girl tugged her fathers blue jacket to gain his attention, "What is it pup?" He asked picking her up while walking to their car.

"You like her don't you?" Her question was innocent and sweet and he knew he couldn't lie to his little girl so he just nodded.

Strapping her in with the seatbelt, he closed the door and walked around to the drivers side and jumped in.

"Why don't you play with her then?" InuYasha was really happy he hadn't started the car yet as her question really shocked him, but it was meant in a little girls way - not a sick twenty five old horn dogs way.

"She has someone else to play with," he replied trying to keep a straight voice, "would you like to watch a DVD on the way home?" trying to change the subject, sighing in relief when it worked because she clapped her hands together and requested her movie.

Tomorrow he would start working at the hospital, that would get his mind to busy to think about Kagome - he hoped.
