Chapter 5: Shocking News

Kagome Higurashi lay thinking on her bed for a while. 5 years had passed since she had gotten kidnapped. She doubt that her family was still looking for her, after all it would be useless looking for her in Japan. After a year of staying in the Youkai household, the police began to think that the family had something to do with it. So of course Naraku freaked. What did the bastard do? He moved the whole family to New York. Of course the Japanese police didn't know that. He was being very secretive about it. And time to time Naraku would leave to check up on his company.

Kagome was getting tired of the old routine. Sesshoumaru had kept his word. He didn't treat her like a slave, only in front of Naraku. But that was all, or when he wanted to annoy her. Kagome groaned, it was Wednesday, and another school day. She made no friends in her school, all the girls that ever became `friends' with her was only so they could get closer to Sesshoumaru. And she would never have the time to make friends anyways. After about a month staying in one school, they would move again.

She got up, took a quick shower and dressed quickly. Once she was in her school uniform which consisted of a skirt that was about 2 inches above her knees, a white pleated shirt and a necktie. She folded the jacket that came along with it because she didn't need it at the moment. After checking her appearance in the mirror she left her room to wake up the spoiled brats. Meaning Miroku, Sesshoumaru, and Inuyasha. First, Inuyasha.

Inuyasha was sleeping peacefully until he heard his alarm clock. -Beep- -Beep-. `Stupid fucking clock' Inuyasha thought to himself. -Beep- -Beep- -Beep-. Inuyasha slammed his fist on the small alarm clock. He opened one eye to see the damage done, he smirked. There was the little red alarm clock in pieces, he would have to ask his mother to buy him another one. He then heard a knock at the door, Inuyasha groaned. `She always has to come so early.'

"Inuyasha!" Kagome called. Inuyasha didn't answer, hoping that Kagome would go away. He knew it wouldn't work, but hey, he could try. She knocked again, `damn it!'.

"Inuyasha! Open up!" Kagome called.

"Hold on," Inuyasha said getting up. He walked to the door still sleepy. He opened the door, their stood Kagome, a very pissed off Kagome.

"Yes?" Inuyasha asked. Kagome took out the pillow that was behind her back and hit him with it.

"God damn it! Why'd ya do that for?" Inuyasha said shaking his head.

"So you won't sleep in the car! I swear, whenever we get into the car and you sit down, the first thing we hear is you snore!" Kagome taunted.

"I don't snore!" Inuyasha growled.

"Of course you don't! And I'm the queen of England!" Kagome said rolling her eyes. She left him there and headed over to Miroku's room. The leech was probably up by now. Kagome knocked on his door, only to have it open seconds later. There stood Miroku in all his glory with a towel wrapped around his waist, with a huge grin on his face.

"Ahh, I was waiting for you Kagome," Miroku said. Kagome sighed, `here we go again.'

"Oh?"

"Yes, it was getting quite lonely in the shower. Maybe you can join me?" Miroku said wiggling his eyebrows suggestively.

"Nice try hentai, but I'd like to keep the rest of my innocence thank you," Kagome said whacking him across his chest lightly.

"Hentai? I assure you that I am not a hentai," Miroku said looking offended.

"If it pleases you to think that way," Kagome said and headed over to Sesshoumaru's door. Kagome knocked, no answer. She knocked again. `Stupid egotistical brat.'

"Sesshoumaru!" Kagome called. She waited for about 5 minuets until he opened the door and smirked. He too had a towel wrapped around his waist and water droplets on his chest and arms. There were what looked like abs, but not quite. After all he was 15. But for a 15 year old, he was quite tall, 5'9.

"Like what you see?" Sesshoumaru asked letting her into his room. (A/N: Remember she is his `slave')

"As if," Kagome huffed. She went though his closet and took out his uniform and laid it on his bed. She also took out his boxers and socks. She went to his shoe rack and took out that black Italian shoes he always liked. She didn't know why he liked them, they made him look old, well his feet. She didn't face him so he could get dressed. Everyday she had to go through this kind of life, and she was sick and tired of it.

"Okay you can look now," Sesshoumaru said. Kagome turned around to see him adjusting his tie. She grinned when she saw that he was getting frustrated with it.

"Need help fluffy?" Kagome asked, using the nickname Inuyasha had given him.

"Don't call me that," Sesshoumaru growled. He hated that nickname with a passion. Stupid Inuyasha just had to give him that nickname.

"Sure you do," Kagome smirked.

"Just help me with this blasted tie already," Sesshoumaru said.

"Now why should I do that?" Kagome asked.

"Because I control your life," Sesshoumaru said.

"Yeah, and I'm a monkey's uncle," Kagome said.

"Could've fooled me," Sesshoumaru muttered.

"Whatever," Kagome said and went over to help him with the tie. When she was done he pointed to his feet. She looked down to see untied laces. She rolled her eyes and bent down to tie his laces. `Honestly, he acts like a 5 year old.'

"Done, let's go," Kagome said. The two caught up with Inuyasha and Miroku. They went down stairs and ate breakfast. It really was amazing that Naraku still let her eat and go to school, after the riot she had caused on her first night being with the family. But she didn't want to think about it.

It was after school and Kagome walked out of the building closely followed by Inuyasha.

"Kagome! Kagome wait!" Inuyasha cried.

"What?" Kagome asked.

"Nothing," Inuyasha said. She shook her head and continued walking. They waited at the curb for Sesshoumaru and Miroku to pick them up with the Limo.

"Dog ears!" Miroku called from behind. Inuyasha and Kagome looked behind them. There was Miroku and Sesshoumaru.

"Where's the Limo?" Inuyasha asked walking towards them.

"Broke down, so we walked," Miroku answered.

"Great, so are we really walking?" Inuyasha asked.

"No, father is sending over another limo here soon," Sesshoumaru answered.

"Good," Inuyasha said. Kagome sat down at the curb, it was at these times that she felt lonely. The brother's had each other, and the only thing she had was…no one. She didn't even have a picture to remember her family by. Suddenly she felt a huge heavy black bag dumped into her lap. She looked up to see Sesshoumaru standing over her smirking.

"Carry it," He said and walked back to his brothers.

The four were watching T.V. in the living room, when Mira and Naraku joined them. Kagome scowled but didn't say anything else. Kagome picked up her glass of water and started drinking. But just then, the program they were watching was interrupted by the news. `Ugh, someone change the channel.' Kagome mentally thought to herself. Inuyasha did, but every channel he changed it to had the news on it.

"Leave it, it might be something important," Naraku said. Inuyasha scowled but didn't argue. Kagome eyes were fixated on the television pretending to be interested in it.

"Today their was a huge explosion in the abandoned building," The reporter on the television said. `Figures'

"The sad part is, that there were people in it," The reporter continued. `Oh those poor people.'

"The police officers aren't sure who was in the explosion but they do know that Ayame Higurashi was in the explosion and did not make it out alive," The reporter said. Kagome dropped her glass, her cousin? Her cousin was in the explosion?
