Chapter 8: The Date
Chapter 8: The Date
§¤§¤§¤ Friday Morning
Inuyasha shot his eyes open and sat up immediately. Today was his date with Kagome. The week had gone by slower then any week prior in his life. He did get to spend Tuesday with Kagome though, which helped him through the week. He tried not to be seen with her too much, for fear of tarnishing her reputation, she didn't seem to care however. She would walk up to him in the hallway and strike up conversation, or talk to him right until the late bell rang and then run off to class, minutes late.
Inuyasha dressed hurriedly, not caring what he wore to school. He decided on a BlackLabel sweater and black jeans, nothing out of the normal for him. He put on his watch and peered in the mirror. He then grabbed his Saint Louis Rams* cap and left his room. He didn't eat anything for breakfast, he shouted a hurried 'goodbye' to Naraku, Kaguara, and a few other servants on his way out, then got into his Shelby and drove to school.
Kagome was already at school, helping one of her friends with her Calculus homework. Kagome sat in the hallway, surrounded by her friends who were laughing and joking around. Kagome was busy defining something when she saw Inuyasha walk in from the stairwell, she immediately stopped talking, and smiled. She snapped out of her daze and finished her definition before standing up.
"Hey Kagome," Inuyasha said, ignoring the whispers and giggles that followed from her friends.
"Hey Inuyasha," she smiled brightly, wondering why he was always so nervous around her friends. "You wanna sit down?" she asked, guessing he would say no but she hung out with his friends every morning, the least she could do was ask if he would hang out with hers for once.
"I can't, I have to go talk to Miroku, but I will catch ya lata. Meet me in the parking lot after school." he touched her cheek gently and scampered off down the hallway.
The day went by slowly for the two of them, but Kagome didn't let that stop her from concentrating hard in her classes. Inuyasha day-dreamed as usual, only catching bits and pieces of what his teachers said.
After school Kagome ran to her car and threw her books and her bag inside before walking gracefully over to Inuyasha's car and waiting for him. She didn't have to wait long, for he arrived moments later.
"Hey, how was your day?" he asked, not really knowing what to say.
"It was good, and how was yours?" she replied easily.
"Boring. Long." he said, laughing slightly. Kagome giggled too.
"So, I guess I'll see you at six." she said smiling coyly.
"Yeah. I am pretty sure I remember how to get to your house." he said nodding his head.
"Great, I should go. I told Sota I would pick him up from school. I'll talk to you later." she smiled and kissed him lightly on the cheek before walking back over to her car and driving off.

"You are going out?" Kagome's mother called from the kitchen, to Kagome who was upstairs, in her room, changing.
"Yes, I told you that Monday!" Kagome yelled back down to her mother.
"Oh that is right, I am sorry. With who?" her mother called back up.
"Inuyasha." Kagome called.
"Who!?" her mother couldn't hear Kagome. Tired of yelling Kagome hurried to finish dressing, and did her make-up. She decended the stairs and walked into the kitchen.
"Inuyasha." she repeated.
"Oh, the boy you are tutoring." her mother stated condesendingly.
"What is with the tone?" Kagome asked defensively.
"I just think you could do better. Hojo for example is a wonderful young man," Kagome rolled her eyes. Another 'I'm not going to run your life, but you could run it better yourself' speech was coming on. "I am just saying you could do better then what you settle for." her mother didn't continue on the usual speech, figuring Kagome had heard it enough. "Have a good time," her mother added at the look of depression that was shown on Kagome's face.
"Thank you," she said to her mother. She hated it when her mother dissaproved, but then she never seemed to approve of anything Kagome did. Kagome allowed her GPA to drop from a 4.0 to a 3.8 and her mother didn't speak to her for a week. Kagome could never find the right boyfriend, or the right clothes, everything she did was good, but never good enough. Kagome thought she would be used to the dissapointing comments that flew from her mothers mouth, staying trapped in her head like a bird imprisoned in a cage; but she never did get used to them.
"Kagome, someone is here for you!" Sota came running through the house jumping up and down excitedly. "It's a boy!" he said tauntingly and making a fish face, which represented kissing.
"Thank you Sota, you little brat." Kagome jokingly tousled her brothers hair and gave him a hug, "You be good. I love you." she released her brother and walked out of the living room, through the kitchen, saying goodbye to her mother, out the hallway and to the front door.
"Hi Inuyasha." she smiled, gasping slightly at Inuyasha's appearence. He was wearing an all black suit, his hair still lay gracefully over his shoulders, but it was more tame then usual. He also held more then a dozen black roses, with a solitary red one in the center.
"Hey Kagome, you look amazing," he said to her. He followed her navy blue dress down to just above the knees. It didn't have a slit in it, like most of her dresses, but it was tight, and exsentuated her curves. It was a spaghetti strap dress and she held an over coat in her arms. She also wore black lace up shoes, with a three or so inch heel on them.
"Thank you," she bowed her head slightly, not used to the compliments on her appearence.
"These are for you, I know black isn't romantic, but I thought if there was a lone red one in the center, it was symbolic to you, and how you stand out." he blushed at his bit of trying to be poetic with a boquet of flowers, but Kagome loved the idea, as she let out an 'aww' and took the flowers from his out held hand.
"Come on in, I want to put these in water." she smiled and grabbed his hand gently, leading him inside.
She walked into the kitchen, Inuyasha followed easily, she didn't really have to drag him. She found a vase and filled it with water, she then cut the steams a little so that the flowers would fit better in the vase.
"Mom, this is Inuyasha. Inuyasha, this is my mother." Kagome made the introductions after putting the boquet in the center of the dinning room table.
"Hello Mrs. Higarashi, it is a plesure to meet you," he bowed slightly and she blushed at his manners.
"It is lovely to meet you too dear," she hid the fact that just minutes ago she had been complaining about Kagome's choice in men. His 'fixed-up' appearence seemed to change her tune.
"Well, I don't know when I'll be back. Good night," she smiled to her mother and Inuyasha followed her out the door.

Inuyasha took Kagome to Anjons* . It was beautiful, Kagome had never been anywhere like it. It was Ivy green, the tables were crimson. The carpet was plush, and with every step Kagome seemed to sink slightly into the floor. They were seated by a very nice young women who referred to herself as Carina. A male waited on them, his name was Marcos.
"This place is so amazing," Kagome gasped in awe at it's beautiful surroundings. A singular candle lit the table, and the over head lights were dim, to set a more romantic atomosphere.
"Yeah, I had never been here before, but Miroku said it was pretty cool." Inuyasha also looked around the restruant, taking in the details. He wanted to remember this night for the rest of his life.
The waiter came back with their drinks and took their order. The rest of the dinner went very well. Inuyasha and Kagome talked, about nothing in particular, memories from childhood, things they did that day, anything and everything. Inuyasha even let a few of his favorite childhood memories about his mom slip out, before he put up his defenses again. Kagome didn't seem to notice his quick defense mode, and he changed the subject casually.
The bill came and Inuyasha paid with a credit card his dad had given him for his eighteenth birthday. Inuyasha and Kagome stood and waited for Inuyasha's car to be brought up. The man, JJ, pulled the car up gently to where the two were standing, Inuyasha helped Kagome into his car and then proceeded to get into the drivers seat and drive off.
"So where are you taking me?" Kagome asked curiously, he smiled devilishly and didn't answer her question. "Oh, so it's like that?" she asked giggling slightly.
"Yeah yeah, it's like that." he looked quickly at Kagome and smiled, revealing his nearly perfect teeth, before putting his attention back on the road.
Inuyasha took her to the ocean. They walked along the ocean talking for hours, again about nothing. They had eventually resorted to sitting on the break-water because they got tired of walking.
"I love the feel of the ocean spray." Kagome commented nonchalantly, Inuyasha hummed in agreement. She sat, wrapped in Inuyasha's warm embrace, the harsh ocean breeze, not phasing her as Inuyasha held her closely.
Inuyasha felt Kagome shiver involentarily, "You must me freezing, sitting here in that dress. You wanna go back to the car?" he asked her.
"No its okay, I like it out here. I don't get to go to the ocean as much as I used to. School got in the way, and my mom, she always said that if I spent more time studying I wouldn't have to rely on anyone when I got older. But then she would turn around and tell me to find a respectable boyfriend. My mother was never happy with me." Kagome didn't realize she was complaining until she said the last comment. "Gods I am sorry Inuyasha, I didn't mean to complain. I'll shut up." she said chuckling slightly.
"No, don't stop talking. I love hearing your voice." Inuyasha rested his head gently on Kagome's and she felt as though she could just melt away. His touch made her feel as though nothing in the world was wrong, everything was at peace for the moments she was with him. Even the harsh sea breeze seemed calm in his pressence.
"You really are freezing, I don't want you to get sick. We should get back to the car." Inuyasha said not wanting to move Kagome, but trying to get up none-the-less. Kagome got up, and allowed him to follow her up. They walked cautiously back down the break-water. Kagome being especially careful, she wasn't exactly wearing hiking shoes. Inuyasha supported her gently holding her up as he guided her across the rocks.
Inuyasha opened the passangers side door for Kagome, as he had done before. Kagome smiled and got into the car. Inuyasha started the car and drove off.
"Where to next?" he asked her, she looked shocked.
"Well, you are the mastermind. Your decision." she said smiling. Inuyasha smiled back, but he really didn't know where to take her.
"Want to go to my place? We can watch a movie or something." he asked, preparing another idea just in case that one was shot down.
"Sure," she agreed easily and Inuyasha drove home.
§¤§¤§¤
"What movie do you want to watch?" he asked. Kagome was standing inside the movie vault with him.
"I have no clue, you have way to many movies," she smiled and continued browsing. They decided on a movie that neither of them had seen. Inuyasha's father often bought movies, then stored them away, so Inuyasha hadn't seen many of the movies in the vault.
Inuyasha put the movie in and sat next to Kagome. The movie was really boring and Kagome couldn't stop yawning.
"Boring isn't it." Inuyasha said as he stood up and went to turn off the TV.
"It was okay." Kagome yawned again. Inuyasha laughed and Kagome walked closer to him. She sat down on the floor in front of the front row of the 'movie theater' and waited for Inuyasha to return from the vault.
"Want me to pick another one?" he called to her.
"If you want to, I don't really care." she replied back.
"Nothing really looks good." He came out of the movie vault with a horror movie, Pet Semetary*, "Wanna watch a horror flick?" he asked, she nodded in agreement and he put the tape in. They both sat on the floor and Inuyasha wrapped his arms protectively around, spreading the familiar warmth through her body she had experienced before.
The movie carried on and at a particularly disgusting part Kagome hid her face in Inuyasha's shirt.
"Scared? Of that?" he laughed jokingly at her and she looked up at him.
"It was gross, not scary." she stuck her tongue out at him, then smiled playfully. He stopped laughing as he stared into her gorgeous eyes. He wanted to kiss her, but didn't want to ruin the night. It was going so perfectly and for him to screw it up by making a move on her was stupid. He held back his impulse with all of his might, trying not to look at her gorgeous body laying in his arms.
Kagome noticed the look on Inuyasha's face, he was trying to hold back. She didn't want him to, she leaned up and kissed him gently. Begging him to accept her.
Kagome and Inuyasha kissed passionately, Inuyasha let go of his morality and accepted Kagome's unvoiced request. She turned around, never breaking their kisses, to face him. Inuyasha ran his fingers through her hair and carassed her back with his other hand. She did a similar motion to him. He decided to try this one more time, he stood up and picked up Kagome carrying her to his room. The sound of Gage* giggling in the background.
