Chapter 7: A Happy Moment
Okay this really isn't a song Fic. But this song was playing when I was writing and well, I like the song, and it fit really well (For the whole fic actually) anyway, so thank you to Good Charlotte and there song "Hold On"!
§¤§¤§¤ The party continued:
Kagome sat in her car, she had started it about five minutes ago but hadn't gone anywhere. She listened to the song playing on the radio;
"Hold on if you feel like letting go
Hold on it gets better than you know
Don't stop looking, you're one step closer
Don't stop searching, it's not over
Hold on if you feel like letting go
Hold on it gets better than you know
Hold on"
"Huh," Kagome chuckled mockingly to herself, "Perfect. Gods Kagome, you are so dumb! Hojo likes you, and what is so special about that overbearing, self-absorbed, drug-addict anyway? Just go back to the party and have fun. Forget the moron, and his stupid self-abosorbed ways" she commanded herself, as she shut off the car.
She walked back into the smoke filled warehouse, but Hojo was no where to be found. Kagome got a drink from the guy who seemed to be running the 'bar' station. She smiled at him and walked through the crowd. Inuyasha was lurking in the corner with some of his close friends, satisfied he had gotten Kagome away from Hojo. But to Kagome's peering eye's he had disappeared as well, she began talking to a guy she knew from school. His name was Kouga and they had a few classes together. Kouga's friend walked up to him and handed him a joint. Kouga took a hit and offered it to Kagome. Much to his, and to her surprise, she accepted.
Kagome had never experienced anything quite like it. Suddenly she was hit with fatigue, the sounds of the people talking and the music playing blurred together, as she focused on nothing but the floor. She handed the joint back to Kouga, she coughed deeply for a minute, then took a sip of her beer, which seemed to clear her throat. She felt dizzy but she was still able to focus; although, whenever she focused on one thing it would cause everything else to be a blur.
Inuyasha watched Kagome pass the joint back to Kouga and he felt sick to his stomach, he should have been watching her, making sure she didn't do anything dumb. So what if she didn't want to sleep with him, she was still the only person worth anything. He'd been miserable without her, not being able to see her for the month that had passed them by. It was his own stubbornness that brought this upon him though. All he had to do was go to his Tuesday sessions, he held his head down, thinking of the pain he had inflicted upon himself.
"Inuyasha? Are we leaving?" Kikyo spoke, putting on a low cut, see through, over coat.
"Uh, no Kikyo. Not this time," he didn't usually pass up sex with no strings attached. I must really like this chick. He thought to himself.
Inuyasha walked toward Kagome, leaving Kikyo very perplexed.
Kagome's eyes looked around the room, drooping lazily. She stopped when she noticed Inuyasha walking at an incredible rate toward her. He picked her up and threw her over his shoulder, he carried her out of the party, but no one seemed to notice Kagome's failed attempts to get him to release her.
§¤§¤§¤ Inuyasha's house
Inuyasha placed Kagome down on his bed, and took off her shoes. He had only done this once before, but he felt as though it were right for him to be taking care of her. She had stopped protesting because when they got into the car he let her listen to whatever she wanted. He was amused at how the simplest thing made her happy. Inuyasha thought that she seemed to be getting tired. He removed his shirt and shoes, but decided to save himself the embarrassment of removing his pants. Even though he wasn't ashamed of his body, he didn't want to make Kagome feel awkward about what happened, or didn't happen, between them, so he left his pants on.
"Inuyasha," Kagome sat up and looked over at Inuyasha, and he stared back at her.
"Yeah?"
"Were you really mad at me? Do you hate me? I am so sorry. I didn't know what was happening I wasn't used to feeling that strongly. I can't really explain it, all I can really say is, I am sorry." Kagome barely took a breath as she delivered her apology, which seemed rehearsed, as though she had thought about that night more then once.
"Don't be sorry Kagome. It is okay, you deserve so much better then me. I guess when you ran out that is what I thought, that you had realized you deserved better. That is why I stopped seeing you, stoped going to my tuto-" Inuyasha trailed off as Kagome leaned up and kissed him gently. He sat paralyzed, not knowing what to make of her actions. He kissed her back, and begged for entrance into her mouth, which she accepted without hesitation. Kagome laid back and pulled Inuyasha on top of her, their tounges battling each other gently. She broke away from him slowly,
"Inuyasha, will you make love to me?" she looked into his eyes, and they glowed with a desire she had never seen before. He looked over her body, he wanted her more then anything.
"I don't think that is a good idea Kagome. I think tonight you have had too much to drink, and it was your first experience with drugs. I think you need to sleep." he noticed the look of hurt in her eyes, and he added, "If you still feel that way in the morning, let me know." he kissed her gently and rolled off of her. He got off the bed and turned the light out before getting back into bed, and trying to fall asleep. Sleep did not come easy for either of them.
§¤§¤§¤ Sunday:
Kagome awoke the next morning, her head resting on a firm, yet gentle chest. Inuyasha's arm was holding her close to him, wrapped gently around her waist. She tried not to wake him as she slowly wiggled out of his embrace. She had a slight headache, but it wasn't bad enough to complain about.
"Tryin' to sneak off are ya?" Kagome jumped at the sound of his voice.
"I thought you were sleep." she replied.
"Where're you going to go? Your car isn't here." he smiled with a devilish grin.
"And do you just expect to keep me here forever?" Kagome hadn't forgotten what had happened last night, she knew what she had requested. She felt no shame in it, she had wanted him to make love to her. Even though he had told her to bring it up again in the morning, if she truly felt that way, she didn't. She didn't feel as though it were the time anymore, looking over at Inuyasha, she wondered if he felt anything about what happened.
"So, do I have to repeat my senior year?" he asked Kagome. He was, of course, referring to the fact that he hadn't gone to a tutoring session in a month.
"No. I never told Ms. Kaede about you not coming to sessions. You are free and clear." Kagome smiled at Inuyasha, but for some reason he looked disappointed.
"Do I still have to go to the last two weeks of sessions?"
"It would be preferred. But if you don't want to I understand," Kagome felt herself become nervous, she wanted him to go to tutoring, it gave her a reason to see him.
"No, I'll go. I wouldn't want you to get in trouble," he smiled at Kagome, who immediately felt warmth spread all throughout her body.
"Good," she smiled coyly and added, "now you still owe me a paper."
"Oh is that so," Inuyasha smiled with loving eyes. "Well, you promised to help me write it."
"Yes I know, we can write it today."
"Sure, as soon as we eat!" Inuyasha got off the bed, slipped on a sweatshirt and ran out of the room. Kagome followed him, trying not to loose sight of him, because she had no idea where anything was, only having been into his house twice before. Even then she hadn't seen the whole house. She ran down the long staircase, chasing Inuyasha through the house, into the kitchen. She watched as he boiled water, and took out at least four packages of Ramen.
"Ramen? For breakfast?" she asked glancing at him as though he were insane.
"Well yeah," he stated this as though it were the most obvious thing.
Kagome and Inuyasha ate their Ramen, Inuyasha ate a great deal more then Kagome. After that they went back up to his room and began to work on his paper. They had been working for about an hour, Inuyasha refused to listen to anything Kagome had to say, and insisted on blaring WCYY as loud as his stereo would go.
"Why did you want me to help you, if you aren't going to listen to a word I say anyway?" she asked angrily. She wasn't really angry though, and she showed that by crossing her arms over her chest and smiling at Inuyasha.
"Do you want to write this paper? Look, it's almost done anyway." he said holding up the paper he had been writing on. Kagome sat in silence while Inuyasha wrote his conclusion. "There, finished, and I didn't need your help." he crossed his arms and looked defiantly at Kagome. She laughed to herself, looking at the look of satisfaction in Inuyasha's glowing amber orbs.
"I better be going, my brother is coming home from his friends house, and I have to be there to watch him." Kagome put on her shoes as she spoke, and then grabbed her key's, which had ended up on the floor.
"Aight," he looked disappointed, but Kagome didn't see.
"What are you doing?" Kagome asked, noticing Inuyasha was getting ready to leave as well.
"Giving you a ride to your car wench. Your car isn't here, again."
"Oh yeah, I hope I don't get another stupid parking ticket." Inuyasha laughed out loud as turned off his radio and then walked out of the room.
Kagome followed him to his car, and they drove along the highway. The radio played a great mixture of songs, and Kagome saw no need to ask if it could be changed. They arrived at her car, and she noticed it was ticket free. Inuyasha shut off the engine and walked her across the street to her car.
"Thanks for the ride, again," she smiled and opened her car door, preparing to get in.
"Kagome, I wanted to ask you something." Inuyasha looked at her with an expression of the utmost seriousness.
"What is it Inuyasha?" she asked him, Is he going to ask why I didn't bring up the subject of sleeping with him this morning? Does he think I forgot? Kagome didn't know why she felt nervous, or why these thoughts floated through her mind.
"Well, Kagome, last night, I guess, what I wanted to ask was," he stopped, looking really nervous. Kagome couldn't figure out what could be so nerve-racking. "Will you go out with me, sometime?" he looked down at the ground, and Kagome didn't notice but he held his breath.
"Inuyasha," she didn't know what to say. Inuyasha's reputation for sleeping with as many girls as possible was very well known. He had never actually gone out with a girl, on a real date. Is he serious? Kagome voiced her concerns, "Do you really want to?" she tried to smile to show him he didn't have to be nervous. He couldn't speak, he just nodded his head slowly. "I would love too!" Kagome tried to tone down her excitement, but it was hard for her.
"Great, can I pick you up next Friday?" he asked, his nerves vanishing.
"Yeah, that sounds great. I am sorry I really have to go, umm call me tonight," she got out a piece of paper and hurriedly scribbled her number on it, "or I'll talk to you tomorrow at school." she smiled and got into her car. Inuyasha closed the door for her, and waved goodbye as she started the car and drove off. Inuyasha put a hand on his car door frame and jumped over the door frame landing in the drivers seat. He drove home, happier then he had been in his entire life.
