"So Kagome, Hojo told me you were named in Sacred Magazine!" Hojo's mother beamed at Kagome from across the table. Kikyo, who was on Mrs. Yamamoto's right, gave Kagome a smirk as she sipped her orange juice. Ignoring Kikyo's obvious attempt to make her squirm, Kagome returned Mrs. Yamamoto's smile.
.
"Yes I was," she moved a piece of bacon around on her plate, "Tama was listed in the top 25 most fashionable places to shop."
.
"Really? What number were you?" Kikyo asked, her voice sickly sweet. Kagome resisted the sudden urge to throw the knife she had in her hand at Kikyo's head. It wasn't bad enough they'd soon be related, and that every dream she had ever had since she knew Hojo Kikyo had copied and succeeded in but now she had to face her and Inuyasha's smug looks in front of their whole family. She had gotten used to Kikyo trying to embarass her but this time it cut deeper then usual.
.
"You know what number they listed me as, since you were one right above me," collective gasps and words of congratulations came from around the table. Hojo's hand came to rest on her knee, giving her a light squeeze, as the family started to ask Kikyo numerous questions.
.
"Tama, that's over in the district right?" startled she looked over at Inuyasha's friend, Miroku they had said was his name. Yura hadn't left his side the entire time she had been here.
.
"Yes it is," Kagome replied, hiding the smirk as Kikyo's beaming expression dimmed.
"That's a great location! Wow, I know I've passed it multiple times. I don't understand why I never have been there before," he stroked his chin as if he were in deep thought.
.
"She only sells woman's clothing," Hojo answered giving her a soft smile before looking back at Miroku, "Kagome is also a designer. There's a lot of her own work in that store, as well as world known designer fashions."
.
"Really? Oh my gosh, Kagome do you do custom orders? What kind of fashions do you do? I need a wedding dress! But I don't want anything off the market," Yura made a gagging noise and Miroku's eyes went as big as saucers. Inuyasha coughed into his napkin, hiding his poor attempt at not laughing.
.
"I'm sorry Yura, I don't do anything that extravagant," Yura pouted, folding her arms across her chest resembling a 5-year-old who wasn't going to be getting their way.
.
"Yura why didn't you ask me to make you a wedding dress?" Kikyo asked, leaning forward to peer at Yura down the table.
.
"Uh well..." Yura began looking around before pushing away from the table, "I need to use the ladies room. I'll be right back." faster then the speed of light she was out of the dining room. Kikyo's expression got darker as she grabbed for her drink, knocking over the pitcher of orange juice in the process. Kagome gasped as the chilled liquid spilled across her lap, turning her white sundress bright orange.
.
"Oh no Kagome! You're dress," the concern in her voice didn't match the look in her eyes. Kagome took a deep breath while she blotted at the stain with her napkin.
.
"Oh don't worry Kikyo, it's alright. No need to apologize, it was an accident."
.
"I wasn't apologizing," Kagome looked up at her, forcing herself not to glare. The other family members seemed to go unphased by Kikyo's harsh words, even Hojo had ignored them and was striking up a conversation with his Uncle on the other side of the table. Fighting the urge to cry, Kagome got up from the table and marched out of the dining room in search for another bathroom.
`~`
It had been over fifteen minutes since Inuyasha had watched Kagome leave the room. She hadn't seemed to upset, but there was nothing she could do for the stain on her dress right now so there was no way she was spending all that time in the bathroom trying to remove it. He was more then sure she was crying, it was obvious Kikyo had been trying to upset her and succeeded. What Inuyasha didn't understand was why was her fiance still sitting there like nothing had happened?
.
"Yasha honey?" he looked over at his girlfriend who had a concerned look on her face, "you've hardly touched your food, are you feeling well?"
.
"I'm fine," he answered while glancing at the hallway, the one she had disappeared down, again.
.
Every nerve in his body said to ignore her. There was enough tension between them already, they had made a mistake less then 48hours ago and now they were being thrown into each others lives. Inuyasha did not want to be part of her wedding, that would only be awkward for them, but what would he tell Kikyo? Sorry honey even though everyone else in your family expects us to be there I can't because I slept with the bride the same night I found you cheating on me? Something told him that wasn't going to fly with her.
.
"Shouldn't someone check on Kagome?" finally Mrs. Yamamoto spoke up. Inuyasha looked at Hojo expectidly, who was blinking at Kagome's seat as if he had just realized she was gone.
.
"I'm sure she's fine Mama," he replied before diving back into conversation. Inuyasha couldn't believe it. How could he just ignore the fact his own family had upset Kagome to the point she was hiding in the bathroom.
.
"Excuse me," he mumbled pushing away from the table and striding out. Taking a deep breath he located Kagome's scent, the same one that had been haunting him the past few days. Following her scent down the hall he fought the urge to gag.
.
The walls were an off white with a baby pink wallpaper boardering. The curtian that hung by the bay window in the hall were fluffy lace with small pink bows holding them back. Every vase that sat on the running table down the hall were pink with an arrangment of flowers done in all different shades of pink.
.
Stopping at the last door down the hall, he leaned in hearing muffled sobs. Sighing Inuyasha rapped his knuckles on the door. He heard her startled gasp followed by a few sniffles. There was some shuffling and a mumbled 'one moment' before the door finally opened.
.
Kagome's tear filled eyes widened in shock upon settling on him. Inuyasha's heart fell at the sight of her. A wad of toilet paper bunched up in her hand, mascara running down her cheeks and her nose a cherry red.
.
"What..."
.
"I uh," he scratched the back of his head with a shrug, "that loser of a fiance of yours wasn't gonna come check on ya' so I thought I would."
.
"He is not a loser," she snapped glaring at him, "if you'll excuse me i'm just going to uhm,"
.
"Cry some more?"
.
"Oh shut up! Like you don't get satisfaction out of this! Your horrible girlfriend is the one that did this! I'm sure it just makes you all warm and toasty to see a mutual enemy put to tears and humiliated," she broke into another sob, covering her face with both hands. She turned around and kicked the door shut as she continued to cry.
.
Inuyasha stared at the door in shock. He had come to find her to check on her, and that's the thanks he got? Irritated he turned around to leave.
.
"Stupid woman crying because Kikyo is better then her," he mumbled as he started to walk away. Suddenly the bathroom door opened up and the girl who was once sobbing her heart out was turned into a raging mad woman.
.
"Did you just say Kikyo is better then me?" she screamed shoving Inuyasha with one hand, "let me tell you something you silver haired jerk! Everything Kikyo has done since she was 17 she stole from me! That's right me. Her idea for her essay for the scholorship our senior year, that was mine! The dress she picked out for our classes graduation party, I picked it out first. She wanted to go to law school, but oh as soon as she heard I was going for business managment and design she suddenly took interest in it and went as well!" with each accusation Kagome was advancing on Inuyasha, until he was finally pressed against the wall, "and finally when I mentioned opening up Tama in front of her, six months later Ascend opened up. All her dreams and accomplishments were only mere copies of mine, so no mister up on his high horse Inuyasha," she took a deep breath and fixed him with her scariest glare, "Kikyo is not better then me."
.
"Kagome, what are you doing?" she tooked over and found Hojo staring at her wide eyed. Shaking herself she took a step back from Inuyasha and started down the hall towards Hojo.
.
"I'm going home," she mumbled brushing past him. Hojo looked torn between confronting Inuyasha and going after his fiance. Inuyasha waved him away. Hojo nodded and trotted after Kagome.
.
'Damn that girl has some issues.'

.
"No way," Sango sputtered, staring wide eyed across the table at Kagome. A flustered Kagome nodded her head using a french fry to point at Sango.
.
"I knew not telling Hojo was a bad idea!" Kagome nearly screamed at Sango. They had chosen to meet at Wacdonalds, defiantly not their usual type of dining. Kagome had almost forgotten how nice it was to just dress down in a pair of jeans and a tank top to walk down the street to the grease joint.
.
"Now Kagome, you can work around this minor issue," Rin chimed in, talking around the straw in her mouth, "the only time you'll see him is family events and well sweetheart, you two don't usually go to them anyway."
.
"It gets better though," Kagome still waving around her french fry at them, "Hojo invited him to be in the wedding!" they both gasped, Rin choking on her milkshake.
.
"Why would he do that! Didn't he just meet him?" Sango asked in shock.
.
"Hojo has this thing about wanting all his cousins in the wedding, something about how it had been their plan since they were little kids. They'd all be in their weddings," Rin nodded in thought.
.
"So that means Kikyo and Yura are going to be brides maids as well huh?" Sango made a sound of disgust at Rin's statement.
.
"I don't think I could stand next to either one of them! Why would he insist on Kikyo being in your wedding? Doesn't he know how much you two don't like each other?" Kagome sighed and rested her chin on her hand.
.
"Sometimes I think he just thinks it's a small misunderstanding that I'm blowing out of proportion. Kikyo is always so nice to me, in her evil sinister, no one will notice she's really being a cold hearted snake, way," Kagome sighed once more and looked at her two best friends, "I can't tell Hojo no. This wedding is just as much his as it is mine."
.
"Don't you mean just as much as his families as yours?"
.
"What does that mean Rin?" Kagome narrowed her eyes at her.
.
"I'm just saying Kagome, it seems like all this extra fluff for the wedding it because it's what his family wants and expects from him," she held up her hand to stop Kagome's protests, "I know how you adore his mother, but the Yamamoto name is up there, and even though his mother has a good head on her shoulders it's his father and grandparents I'm worried about."
.
"It's true Kagome, I've seen your guest list, most of them are all business partners of his father's," Kagome looked between her two best friends, then shook her head.
.
"He just has a lot to live up to, ya know?" she leaned back, looking out the window, "ever since we were in high school his father has been raising him to take over the family business. So yes it looks like all his family's business partners are attending our wedding, but in reality those will be Hojo's business partners in the future. They're all very important people to them, and this is an important event in both our lives," she smiled at her friends, "we're both making a lot of compromises to make it work. I'm ok with that."
.
"I just feel like your settling Kagome," Sango replied sadly after a moment of silence, "no woman should settle for anything less that what she really wants when it comes to her wedding."
.
"But I'm fine with it Sango," Kagome frowned at them as she picked up her burger, "let's just change the subject." They all nodded and started up a conversation about what movie they were going to see that evening.

.
Miroku rose an eyebrow at Inuyasha as he held his phone out, Kikyo yacking away on the speaker. Inuyasha held his head in his other hand, ears flattened against his skull in an attempt to keep her rambling out. She had been going on about their next big family trip for the past twenty minutes.
.
"So you see we just have to go! The whole family will be there, Daddy is going to be recoginzed as well as my uncle at this banquet, they've requested every member of the family to be there," Kikyo finally paused, waiting for Inuyasha's response.
.
"Kikyo I don't know if I can take the time off," Inuyasha mumble into his hand.
.
"What? Inuyasha you own your own company! You should be able to take time off when ever you want," she paused before making an irritated sound, "is this your way of saying you don't want to go? Inuyasha that's ridiculous if it is! You've been coming to my family's gatherings for the past 5 years, what's changed now?"
.
"Nothing Kikyo, I'll get the time off ok?" he fought not to growl out his words, "I have to go, I'll talk to you later." he flipped his cell phone shut with a sigh. He was growing tiring of all these family events. And now with Kagome being part of all that, it was ten times less appealing to him.
.
"So...where exactly are you guys going?" Miroku rose an eyebrow at him.
.
"Some fancy cruise," he waved his hand around dismissively, "her father is being awarded for some accomplishment or something. It's probably just some kiss ass award his employees are giving him in hopes of a raise."
.
"Ah, so the whole Mori family will be there?" Inuyasha nodded, "so...Hojo will be there?"
.
"Why does that matter?" he gave Miroku a sideways stare as. Miroku sat staring at the muted tv twiddling his rat tail.
.
"Just that if Hojo will be there, I'm sure the lovely, curvy, angel Kagome will be there as well?" Miroku gave him hopeful eyes and Inuyasha growled.
.
"Why do I care? Not like I want anything to do with her!" Miroku chuckled.
.
"I wasn't asking for you, I was asking for my own benefit," he wiggled his eyebrows at his friend, a soon found the throw pillow making contact with his face.
