Without pure adrenaline drive them to their destination without stops their progress was slow, Wolfwood was the one sent to scout ahead most of the time, since his motorcycle seemed to have a minimum speed of 55mph.

They were slowed by their wounded, and those that were exhausted.

Kagome had her arm in a sling, she'd pulled her shoulder in the escape, and Yasha was covered in bandages, he even had a band aid on his trimmed puppy ear, which would twitch and cause him the slightest wince.

Miroku rode on Kirara with Sango, leaning on her, because he had used up most of his energy. Sango was blushing, but nobody really said anything.

Rin rode on the back of Wolfwood's motorcycle, and the others walked… Most of them were bruised, and scratched, but they weren't too bad.

Sesshoumaru had given his hoodie to Kagura the wind sorceress who was in her pajamas, because that was all she'd worn to bed, when she'd been stolen. He'd even lowered himself to letting her ride on his back, like Miroku had originally carried Sango, so that the wind demon wouldn't hurt her feet.

Taisho carried Kagome, because the little miko seemed to have used all her holy energy as well as the rest of her energy in the fight, and he wasn't about to let Inuyasha carry her when he was pretty maimed himself.

Salem talked idly with Shippou, and Kouga, as Indiana had been sent speeding ahead to ready the mansion for when they arrived the next evening by the looks of it.

As they reached the next clearing they saw Wolfwood's cycle parked, and there was a wide stream through the far end of the clearing, and Rin was setting up a ring of rock toward the middle, when Wolfwood came into view carrying an armful of fire wood, and set it down, for the young woman to set up, and he passed her his lighter. There was a dent in the side, it had obviously deflected a bullet or two before.

“Figured we'd stop here, it's almost seven in the evening. We'll get a fresh start tomorrow?” He offered, even though he had already made the decision for them.

Salem nodded, accepting his friend's decision.

Tai nodded for Inu Yasha to sit down, and then he gently set the sleeping Miko in his lap. He gave Yasha a nod, that told him to keep her safe. “C'mon Salem, I'll help you hunt dinner.” He offered.

Shippou looked to Kouga. “C'mon, let's help the old guys go kill some poor defenseless forest creature so we can cook it and eat it…”

Kagura raised an eyebrow. “Is the kitsune always so good at killing people's appetites.” She asked Sesshoumaru.

“If he doesn't kill your want to eat, just by looking at him, just wait till he opens his mouth.” Sesshoumaru smirked.

“Fluffy, I'm tired, I'm cranky, I was almost stepped on by Snuffles the oversized rampaging dog, before the sun was even completely free of the horizon, pardon my fucking bad attitude, and you know if you didn't have a chick on your back, I'd give you a blast of foxfire, but before I completely loose my temper I'm gonna just flick you off and go kill something so we can eat, OKAY?!” Shippou growled, flicking off the full demon son of Taisho…

Wolfwood raised an eyebrow, at the feisty fox.

Kouga took a step back. “Um, how bout we just let you hunt, in the frame of mind you're in, you'll `accidentally' kill one of us…”

Shippou grabbed the wolf by the front of his jacket and growled just dragging him off into the woods.

“Well, I guess that proves it, Shippou can loose his temper, he isn't Mr. Happy-go-fucking-lucky all the time…” Miroku muttered softly from behind Sango. He carefully slipped off the firecat, and slowly stiffly made his way to a tree, and lowered himself to the ground, his back against the trunk of the maple tree.

Sango dropped off her Firecat, and Kirara gave a rumbling growling. “Kirara, go with them, make sure Shippou doesn't kill anyone he isn't supposed to, please?” She asked.

Kirara gave her that look like she's lost her mind, it clearly asked, what the hell are you thinking, I ain't going after that guy, he just flipped off Sesshoumaru, and dragged the wolf Prince into the woods, more then likely to kill him, and he's armed and dangerous… No… Okay, so that was just the jist of what the look said.

“Please, Kirara?” Sango asked.

Kirara sighed, and rumbled, glaring at everyone but the Taijiya as though to tell them that it was ONLY because it was Sango.

Miroku gave the feline an understanding look, as though to say he was the same way.

Kirara bowed her head and turned and headed into the woods to find the Kitsune.

The rest worked on setting up camp.

Kagura felt slightly bad for provoking the cute young man, but she sighed, and knelt by the fire, next to her friend Rin.

There was a scream from the woods, well it was more of an anguished yell.

Sesshoumaru looked to the other males that remained in camp, which were Wolfwood, Miroku, and Inuyasha, aside from himself. “Guard the women.” He ordered, his hand on Tokijin's hilt as he plunged into the darkening woods.

Wolfwood raised an eyebrow.

Miroku forced himself to his feet, as the clang of metal on metal rang back to them. He leaned heavily on his staff. As he cocked his head, listening closely. He smirked, hearing Taisho cursing at Sesshoumaru for damn near getting him killed by the Kitsune.

Sesshoumaru, Taisho, and Salem came walking back into camp a few minutes later, without a kill.

“Miroku, please sit down?” Sango asked, at his side, and he hadn't even notice.

He sighed, and let her help him back to the ground, he could see Hiraikotsu leaning against the next tree over.

She took his staff away, so he wouldn't be able to get up again, till he was rested, and she sat down next to him. “Stay here, and rest?” She asked, turning her big brown eyes on him, and he knew exactly how the firecat had felt, he felt the fight go out of him, and he put his arm around her shoulders, and pulled her so she was leaning back against him.

“Fine, just don't go looking for Shippou.” Miroku said, knowing that the kitsune was cranky for more then one reason today.

Sango nodded, and noticed that the monk had one hand in his hoodie pocket and the other was around her shoulders. It had been a few days since she'd had to maul him.

Everything was quiet for nearly five minutes when Kirara emerged from the surrounding woods with a very very dirty wolf prince hanging by the back of his pants from her teeth. She dropped him unceremoniously in front of Taisho. Her forepaws were dirty, and muddy, as she sifted to the small kitten before bounding over to Sango.

Kouga coughed up dirt, an earth worm or two, and sighed, looking up at the Lords.

Sesshoumaru smirked slightly.

Salem looked in disbelief at the wolf.

Taisho hauled the younger man to his feet. “Testing out an early grave?”

“He buried me…” Kouga shuddered, shaking the dirt, and leaves, from him.

“Yeah, I figured that much out.” Taisho smiled. “What'd you do?”

“I said maybe he should go back to camp and cool down.” Kouga said, he was walking towards the fire when he suddenly hit the ground beneath a beheaded bear. A large heavy bear that squished when it landed.

Rin shrieked, and Kagura looked like she was going to be sick.

The head landed a minute later after bouncing off Sesshoumaru's. Sesshoumaru shook himself and then growled deeply at the surrounding woods.

Taisho shook his head. “Okay, we have food.”

Salem and Taisho set about preparing it, while Kagura and Rin moved away from the fire and the bear.

Kouga hauled himself up off the ground once the Lords had removed the corpse from him. He walked over to a tree, and launched up into it, before letting himself sit comfortably leaning back against the trunk.

Wolfwood walked slowly over to his brother. “Rock paper scissors for who has to go see what's gotten into our Kitsune?” He asked.

“Would you please go, Wolfwood-sama, Miroku is still tired, please, sir?” Sango intervened, looking up at the priest.

Wolfwood turned and paused before glancing back at his brother, then he walked into the woods. Miroku, why is it you always love the Warrior woman that can wrap you so firmly around her finger… The priest wondered to himself.

“Aye Kid!” He called, hoping to draw out the kitsune, without getting beared, or headed, or killed… He really hated being dead. It was a royal pain in the ass. He froze for a split second before he spun his gun drawn as he heard a small twig break behind him.

Rin looked at him, she wore a pair of guys pajama pants, skater sneakers, and Shippou's hoodie. “Please don't shoot me, Mr. Wolfwood.”

“Son of a bitch.” He holstered the gun, and sighed. “Sorry, Rin. Go on back to camp, I'm gonna find Shippou…” He said. He turned back to his search. “SHIPPOU!” He yelled.

“Mr. Wolfwood, please, lemme talk to him, he obviously is upset about something… It hasn't been the best day, but maybe he will come talk to me…” She smiled up at the man, she was barely 5'2”, a slight and slender young woman, with chocolate brown hair, and engaging brown eyes.

Wolfwood looked at her for a minute or two. “Alright, you got ten minutes to find him, then I'm gonna come take you back to camp, and find his tail myself.” He said.

Rin nodded. “Thank you, sir.” She smiled at him, showing braces that were obviously there to help correct the gasps in her endearing and heart warming smile.

She watched as the Priest made his way back to camp. She turned and walked further into the darkness. “Shippou…? Hey, you're a really good dancer… You have a really nice singing voice to… It sounds really familiar, it's confident and comforting at the same time.” She walked further, every once in a while she would trip slightly. She was wearing his shoes, because he had let her borrow them, because he was used to going bare foot in the woods, and he didn't want her getting hurt. His feet were a lot bigger then hers, even though he wore the shoes funny to hide the kitsune anatomy in his legs.

She yelped as she fell into the grave that Kouga had vacated not an hour before. She stood, and brushed herself off. “Okay, Shippou, I could use your help, I fell into the hole that the wolf prince left behind…” She said more to herself then anyone, as she blindly tried to climb out. She got up enough that her arms were on solid earth, when strong hands grabbed her biceps and pulled her up, and set her on her feet, a good distance from the hole.

“Thank you, Shippou.” She said, looking up at him. He towered over her, and he didn't look happy, he had turquoise stripes on his cheeks, and his green eyes seemed to glow in the darkness, but he stayed silent.

She gathered her courage, and smacked him in the arm. “That's for being mean to Mr. Kouga, and dropping a damn dead bear on him.” She said.

“You cursed.” He said, finally an eyebrow slightly raised.

She glared up at him. “You let me fall into a hole.”

“Sorry, I was killing something.” He said, only half repentant. “I could have helped you, and then let us get attacked, or I could have killed it then helped you out of a hole, I liked my choice.” He said, his voice still held aggravation, but his picked her up bridal style and leapt into the trees.

She clung to him, and realized he didn't have a shirt on, he was kind of sticky too, but she didn't ask, she was afraid to know.

He landed neatly in one of the tallest trees on a sturdy branch, that exposed them to the nearly full moon, and he let himself sit down, with her in his lap.

She could see now that he was bleeding, he had scratches from bear claws across his chest, and his left bicep had a bite mark. “You're hurt! Take me back to camp, I'll fix you up.” She said.

Shippou smirked. “I'm a demon, I heal, give it a few hours.” He shrugged it off. “Sides I played with the fuzzy bastard just a little bit too long.” He shrugged, looking out at the moon.

After a couple minutes she realized he wasn't gonna move, and he had her held rather firmly so she knew she wouldn't fall. She felt his tail wrap around her waist, and she could see he was missing a chunk of fur, and had a bite mark on it too, but she gently pet the uninjured parts. “Thank you for coming for us…” She said.

He grunted.

She waited another minute or two. “What's wrong?”

Shippou looked down at the slip of a woman in his arms. “Nothing's wrong.” He said, sounding more like Inu Yasha then anything at the moment.

“SHIPPOU IF YOU'RE OUT HERE DOING INDECENT THINGS TO THAT YOUNG RIN… NEVER MIND, JUST LET ME KNOW THAT SHE'S NOT WANDERING OUT HERE LOST.” Wolfwood bellowed.

“Cover your ears.” Shippou warned Rin. “And wait till he's gone to smack me for this, please?”

Rin nodded and did as she was asked, not wanted him to shout in her ear.

“WOLFWOOD, YOU REALLY ARE A MOOD KILLER, A MINUTE SOONER AND YOU REALLY WOULD HAVE GOTTEN AN EAR FULL, SIDES SHE WAS THE ONE DOING INDECENT THINGS TO ME, I'M SURPRISED YOU COULDN'T HEAR ME SCREAM…” Shippou shouted to the priest.

“WOW SHE WORKS FAST! NIGHT YOU TWO!” Wolfwood yelled.

“NIGHT PERVERTED PRIEST!” Shippou shouted back.

There was full minute and a half of silence, then a yelp… Rin had squeezed his tail where the bite mark was….

R&R please…
