Embracing love, facing death, Part two (-_- I own no Inuyasha characters)

Inuyasha walked back to the group he had traveled with while the shard was broken. But now it was gone… It and his Kagome. A single tear slid down his cheek. He brushed it away as he came to the camp fire that Sango had set up. She looked up pityingly at the hanyou. She knew it was hard to loose one close to your heart. She starred into the fire and thought. Her losses were many, but Inuyasha's came with a harder blow. First he had lost kikyo, then, just as he was coming to terms with his love for her reincarnation, she too was snatched away. To lose family is one thing, to lose your true love is another. A tear glided down Sango's cheek unnoticed by her companions. She cried for the half demon Inuyasha. He may have tried to put up a tough act, but he failed and everyone had seen him cry. He wanted people to think he would get over it, but they all knew. They all knew how much Kagome meant to him.

***FLASHBACK***

Inuyasha looked down at Kagome's still body. His eyes were glazed over and his tears had stopped. The rest of the group had thought she would live. But Kagome was human… only human. Inuyasha carefully laid her down and walked out of the hut. The group knew that Kagome was dead when they saw his emotionless face. A few days later, Kagome's funeral took place. Honoring Kagome's last wishes, he arranged for her to be buried under the Goshinboku. Sango wept on the monks shoulder while she cradled Shippo, who also wept. Miroku had tears on his face, but tried to stay strong. Kaede was speaking of Kagome's life, and her fondest memories with the late miko. But Inuyasha was nowhere to be found. Silently, he looked down on the group and some villagers from his spot in the branches of the Goshinboku. Tears ran freely down his face, and dropped onto Kagome's grave below. He wished he could hold her once again. To feel her warmth on his back as they ran towards rumors of the jewel shards. But with the jewels completion, so ended the final chapter in Kagome's life. She was gone, but he wasn't accepting it.

***END FLASHBACK***

Sango poured some ramen into a bowl and passed it to Inuyasha. He ate slowly, but he could barely taste it. His mind was wandering, he was thinking of the many times Kagome had made Ramen for him, and how Sango's couldn't compare. He sighed inwardly and stood. “I'm going to… go see if there are any demons nearby.” Without waiting for an okay, he walked off.
Inuyasha arrived back at Kagome's favorite sakura tree minutes later. He looked up and called out, “You there?” Giggling could be heard faintly from it's flowery branches. Kagome's voice came through. “Yes, what do you want?” She asked mockingly in a voice so low, Inuyasha knew it was meant for him to hear, and for him alone. “You…” Inuyasha whispered back into the tree. Kagome's foggy outline shimmered at his request. “You silly dog boy, my silly dog boy, you know that's something even the Shikon no Tama can't do…” Inuyasha was starring up at Kagome. The breeze blowing his hair wasn't affecting her. “How long can you stay?” Kagome smiled. “In this form or in your heart?” Kagome asked teasingly. “In this form… you'll always be in my heart…” Kagome looked towards the heavens. “I can only stay long enough to say one more thing.” Inuyasha arched an eyebrow. “What?” “Go visit Trini, good bye, I love you…” Kagome blew him a kiss as she faded out. Her form turned to a ball of light that drifted towards an opening in the sky. Bright light beamed through the clouds and seemed to make a path for Kagome's soul. Inuyasha watched in wonder for a minute. “WAIT?” He called to her, snapping out of his daze, “WHO IS TRINI?”
