Summary- Sesshomaru finds himself falling in love. As if having emotion isn't bad enough, the person he's falling for is Kagome. How can he rid himself of this horrid emotion?

Disclaimer- I do not own Inuyasha. If I did, life would be sweet.

On their journey, Kagome couldn't help but stare at the youkai next to her. He stood atop his cloud, regal and emotionless, as though he didn't have a care in the world. He was so much like his brother, and yet, so very different. He had more control over his temper, always seemed so calm, and, of course, cared nothing for the companionship of humans or any lesser beings. Why he made an exception with Rin, she had yet to figure out. Suddenly, two amber orbs locked onto her, breaking her out of her trance.

“Why do you stare in such a way? Are you afraid of me, of what I might do? Or is it perhaps that you are simply confused as to why you are here?”

Kagome could not think of a response. She was slightly afraid of him, that was true enough, but confused was an understatement. She could not fathom why the inu-youkai requested her assistance, or why he was lowering himself to ask for a human's help.

“I guess it's a mixture of both, Lord Sesshomaru.”

Sesshomaru cocked his head a bit. “Why is she using a title of respect when it is clear she shows me no respect whatsoever? Is it so I will not harm her or is it possible that she is beginning to learn her place in the natural order of things?”

“You do not have to use that title. I mainly rule over the demons in my land, not the humans. Most do not even know my name. However, for the time being, you may use whatever moniker is most comfortable.”

Deciding that using `Fluffy' would probably get her killed, Kagome merely nodded.

“Alright. Then I guess I'll just call you Sesshomaru.”

The youkai showed no response, but instead turned his attention to the ground. He whistled to Ah-Un, who began to descend along with him. Below them sat a large, extravagant palace, the castle of the Lord of the Western Lands, Sesshomaru.

Inside the castle, Kagome was awestruck. The building was huge, with so many comforts she had only seen in her own time. There were many servants wandering about, most inu-youkai. Coming around the corner was Rin, obviously pleased to see another human companion.

“Lord Sesshomaru! Why have you brought Kagome here, Lord Sesshomaru? Did something happen to Inuyasha and the others?”

“No, Rin. Kagome is here to assist me. She shall stay the rest of the night and return to her companions at sunrise.”

Rin looked over at the miko and smiled.

“If you are staying the night, do you think you could tell me a bedtime story? All of Lord Sesshomaru's stories are very boring.”

Kagome stifled her laughter and nodded.

“Of course, Rin. As long as Sesshomaru allows it, I mean.”

She looked Sesshomaru, who met her gaze for only a moment before nodding. Rin smiled and rushed off, most likely to inform Jaken of the new guest. Once she left, the youkai lord turned to Kagome and spoke.

“I know you must wonder why I have brought you here, young miko. However, patience is a virtue. I must ask that you freshen up a bit before we dine. Afterwards, we shall speak of your reasons for being here. For now, my servants will lead you where you need to be. Should you find yourself lost, they will show you the right way.”

“But all of your servants are demons. Won't they think of me as an inferior being?”

“In most cases, in most castles, yes. However, because of Rin, they have already made many exceptions. To listen to you would be no worse than taking orders from Jaken.”

Kagome was about to say more when Sesshomaru began to call a few servants over. He whispered some instructions and, before she knew it, she was off.

“Well, if anything, this will be a great learning experience.”

(A/N) For some reason, my chapters have been showing up w/ everything in italics, but it is not this way when I save it on my computer. If anyone knows how to fix this, please let me know.
