Summary- Sesshomaru finds himself falling in love. As if having emotion isn't bad enough, the person he's falling for is Kagome. How can he rid himself of this horrid emotion?

“What is this strange feeling? Is that woman before me the same young miko I brought here only an hour ago? Why, with that kimono, she reminds me so much of Minaka. But, no, I cannot let that outfit seduce me. If these feelings are truly what they appear to be, then I will have to try something drastic. But that shall have to wait until after dinner…”

Kagome entered the dining room and received many stares and second glances. At the table sat Jaken, Rin, and a few other inu-youkai she did not recognize. Sesshomaru sat at the head of the table, an empty seat beside him. Trying his hardest not to stare, he motioned for her to join him. Slightly embarrassed by all the attention, she blushed as she sat down. Sesshomaru looked to one of his servants, who then proceeded to bring out the food. He then turned to Kagome and took her hand in his. Deciding to test the waters, he brought it to his lips and kissed it gently.

“You look magnificent, Kagome. That kimono is stunning, truly stunning.”

Kagome turned an even deeper red. What was he saying? Surely this wasn't the Sesshomaru who was constantly trying to kill Inuyasha, attempting to steal the Tetsuiga, and all the while showing no care or remorse. Was this the same Sesshomaru who had just kissed her hand and called her magnificent?

“Thank you, Sesshomaru. You are quite handsome yourself.”

For a brief moment, he seemed to smile, if only slightly. Before he could say anything more, the servants finished bringing out the food and everyone began to eat. And, if Kagome didn't know better, she could swear that Sesshomaru had winked at her.

The meal passed just as quickly as it had begun. After all the plates had been cleared, Sephira appeared to lead Kagome back to her room. As she stood to leave, the miko felt a hand on her shoulder. She turned to see Sesshomaru behind her.

“Please, Sephira, allow me to escort the young lady back to her room. I have much I need to discuss with her.”

Sephira nodded and left the room. Sesshomaru then offered his arm, which, hesitantly, she accepted. As they walked to her room, Kagome couldn't help but notice a slight tint of rogue on the youkai lord's pale face. Was it possible that he too was just as embarrassed as she was?

Once at her room, Sesshomaru opened the door and led her inside. Still unsure of his plans, Kagome stood a good distance away. Sesshomaru looked at her strangely before speaking.

“Do not worry, Kagome, despite what you may think, I am not going to slay you. My intentions are entirely peaceful in nature. As I told my insolent fool of a brother, I have come to you with an entirely personal matter.”

“But why me? What help could I possibly be to you, a youkai lord? I mean, I may be a miko, but I'm not a very powerful one.”

“You misunderstand your purpose hear, Kagome. The reason I require your help is because this particular problem is a matter of emotion, more specifically, of the heart. As you may have noticed, I am not one to show any emotion if it can be avoided. However, recently, I found my emotions becoming more prominent. For some reason or another, a certain emotion has been plaguing me constantly, one I am not sure is reciprocated.”

“Sesshomaru, I'm not sure I follow…”

Sesshomaru sighed and stepped closer to the miko. He put his hand beneath her chin, raising her face so that their eyes met.

“I am not sure quite how to say this, miko, but here it is. Kagome, I think… I believe I am falling in love with you.”
