Chapter 1

Sesshoumaru Says Mine!

I have been watching my brother for three years now. Well, not really my brother as much as the woman he is with. Her name is Kagome, a girl from the future and a reincarnation of my brother's miko of 50 years past, good hearted, unjudgmental, and very good with children. Above all though, she is strong in mind, body, and heart. Stronger thn that undead priestess my mental brother keeps returning to.

He did it again. She's crying over that fool again. Perhaps she will go back to her time long enough for me to kill him.

He made a promise to both women. Naraku is dead. That was done little over one year ago. It had been a collective effort, as much as I hate to admit it. The half-demon had collected all the jewel. Hads it not been for her, that little slip of a human girl, everyone would have been dead at least twice over. She had dealt the final blow. But did that imbicike of a half-brother leave taht wakling corpse? No! He should have left her and laid her to rest the day after that battle. For God's shake he had a monk and priestess there, no, I take that back. The old priestess was there as well, so two priestesses. Anyhow, his promise to that woman was paid in full when Kagome incinerated Naraku. His promise to this young woman; however, has yet to be fulfilled in anyway. All she wanted was for him was life, she still wants it. She made him promise to live after Naraku died. Now she is crying because her promise is too difficult a task to complete.

She is alone in the clearing of the Bone Eater's Well. Not even that kitsune pup is around.

"I know you're there." Her is so melodic it is perhaps the only reason I come out of my thoughts. I remain silent, fearing she have been talking to someone else, soemone I can not sense. "Sesshoumaru," she begins, "your aura is charging again." How does she keep her voice so steady after crying? Most women stutter or hiccup or- "You care to tell me what's up?" Her large grey-blue eyes blink up at me with an innocence I have only found in Rin. After remaining silent for a moment, her hand begins waving in my face, "Earth to Sesshoumaru. Anyone home?" She stops suddenly and I realized that she has recieved a response. As much as I pride myself on physical control, I don't recall responding to her obserd question. "You might want to close your mouth. You could swallow a fly." She turns to sit a few meters away.

To my disbelief, I find myself doing as she said before sitting a mere meter in front of her. We sit in silence for a few moments. Again my mind begins to wander.

Evidently Kagome doesn't like it because she clears her throat, announcing she wishes for my attention. "How's that arm treating you?" She indicates my left arm as she voices her query.

I look down at said arm that is folded in the sleeves of my haori gripping the lower bicep of my other arm. She had healed it in our last encounter nearly four months ago when I had unwittingly saved the kit from another demon. Truth be told I didn't care about the kit, the demon had attacked Rin and was moving to the trees she hid behind. Either way, I have my arm back and it was further proof that this young woman was better than her predicessor.

I swallow my thoughts with the lump in my throat before I nod my head, "It is a very good arm, thank you." There is no reply for a few moments, so I venture a look up from my arm to her shocked expression. Her gaze is glassed over and her mouth hanging open as a snake before lunging on prye.

"You...said..." She seems in awe over such a small thing. Has Inuyasha not thanked her for anything? Knowing the mutt, probably not. "Thank you?"

I nod once, "Yes, I said that."

"Wow!" She sits silent again. This time my thoughts wander, but stay with my eyes. My gaze carefully covers her entire body, refusing to miss a single visible part. "Are you feeling okay?" Her voice is sweet and full of concern as it pulls me away from her hips and how much joy it would bring me to have my pups being carried on them. "Sesshou-" she leans forward and places a small hand on my brow. "Your temperature's normal, I think, " she declares after a moment and begins pulling away. I think it safe to say that we are both startled when I dispell a small whimper at the loss of contact. "Did I hurt you?" Her eyes begin searching my body for any injury.

I shake my head and instead of the typical sniff and "As if a weak human could hurt this Sesshoumaru," I gently tell her, "No, I merely-" Wish to bed you? Make you my mate? Want you to touch me? Want to kill my brother for bringing you such sorrow? "-wish for you to leave my brother." What the fucking hell was that? Good Gods I have resorted to using the demeaning language of my brother.

Kagome falls uncerimoniousely on her backside staring at me in utter shock. "What do you mean leave your brother?" she squeeks after a few silent seconds. She folloes her statement with a mumbled, "I would have to be with him to leave him." The jewel's aura takes on a dark purple tint before returning to the normal, peaceful, pale pink, signifying that she had allowed her hatred to touch the mostly recreated jewel.

A moment passes as she regains her emotions. I remain silent for I am not one to provoke a woman with as much power as this one possesses. It is during this time that I watch her eyes intently and find that I am beginning to feel concerned of her emotional well-being. Concern for the well-being of another had only begun a year agao and has only targeted Rin.

"Tell me something, Sesshoumaru." My attention is already caught by the connection of our eyes. "Where would I go if I left?" She breaks our gaze and turns to the well, everything about her demeanor seems to become depressed. "There is no way for me to go home." She turns her attention to her amusing hands. "Kouga would have me carrying pups within a year. Staying here with the others would be staying with...him," a single tear makes its way down her cheek. Unconsciousely my hand reaches to cup her chin allowing my thumb to disperse the offending drop. Kagome gasps at this simple action before looking up at me in bewilderment.

"You didn't say his name." Slowly I pull away my hand. "Why?"

I seem to be surprising her a lot today because she remains silent and wide-eyes before mumbling that she doesn't know why.

"Kagome?" She brings her hands to a stop in her lap, "Forgive me, but-"

"You are REALLY out of character today! What's up? You get a curse put on you, making you more aquanted with human feelings? Or are you-"

I push her back to a sitting position before answering her irrational queries. "No, I feel fine. And the last curse placed on this body was by you eight months ago." My brow twitches in anger, "I act the way I do because you-" Words, words, I need those words! "You are ... beautiful."

Kagome returns to her silent state before blinking multiple times. "I'm beautiful? To you?"

Resignedly I nod my head once. I have humanity in me, it maybe only a little, but I have it nonetheless.

"Thank you." A small pink tint floods her cheeks. She's blushing! As it occurs to me, I look down to my fabric covered arms.

"Would you be willing to live with...in the Western Lands?" I feel a warmth creeping to my cheeks. Perhaps that was a bit unexpected. Rationalize this before she asks questions. She diserves better than that wolf cub. She can't go home. She wants to leace my brother. If she were to live in the palace, I could have her care for Rin. She could be a servant. No, she is much more than a servant. I'm sure there is a shrine she could care for. Sh could-No, as a Lord, I am above such temptations. Such things are what bring out creatures such as Inuyasha.

"Would Shippo be able to come with me?"

I am caught off guard and onle manage an unintelligable, "Huh?"

She pushes out a heavy sigh before voicing her question again, "May I bring my son, Shippo?"

That kitsune pup? Wait, if she is asking that, does that mean-? "If that is what you wish."

She thinks a moment, bothering her bottom lip with her teeth, "What would I do there?"

She is really serious about it! The joy I feel at this moment surpasses all the moments of the past, "What you wish."

"What I wish?" She echoes off handedly.

"You could care for Rin, read in the library, or train." I sound like a market salesman.

"Why?"

I revert to my typical silent responses by merely raising a questioning brow.

"Why are you offering?"

Some people just can't help but ask questions about gifts. "Kagome, this Sesshoumaru wishes for you to join his household in the Western Lands to-" How do I wish to say this?

"Why so formal all of a sudden, Sesshy?" She smirks as she says the God awful nickname. "No need to growl, m'lord." Her smirk ever changes but she begins to giggle softly.

I stop growling instantly as she begins her giggling. Women, humans, Gods kill me before I say something stupid.

"Would I be with you?" Her voice is soft and hard to hear even for a demon.

I am taken aback by the abruptness and boldness of her question. "In what way may this Sesshoumaru ask?"

She looks up at me before looking back to her lap. A nervous chuckle escapes her lips, "I forgot you were a demon. Sorry," again I raise an eyerow. "I...I just wanted to know if I would be another ward or-"

"Oi, Kagome!"

I was wondering when that whelp would show, it is almost sunset.

"What, Inuyasha?" Her voice holds a tone of malice I have never heard before.

"Sesshoumaru is around here somewhere." He looks around obviously not seeing me. I'll make note to ask the girl later. "What's wrong with you?" He sits down beside the girl. "Shouldn't you be helping Sango and Keade?"

Her eyebrow twitches as she clinches her fists in an attempt to reclaim the control of her emotions. "No, Inuyasha, they told me to relax today. Do me a favor and ask Shippo to join me?"

Inuyasha makes to object when he receives a glare that could have contained miko magic. "Alright, alright you crazy bitch!" After throwing his arms in the air he stomps his way to the village. "SHIPPO! Kagome wants to see you by the well!"

"Kagome," I ask after my half-wit of a half-brother is out of hearing range. "Why-"

She looks from the ground in front of her knees to my eyes. "I can see you, anyone without demon blood can see you. I did it so that he would leave." Her eyes hold no room for argument.

"Why did you ask for the kitsune?" I can hear the kit and my brother fighting from the village.

"I want to ask his opinion," she states flatly.

"Kagome! Inuyasha's trying to follow me!" The young fox demon screamed half way across the clearing.

"SIT, boy!" Never before have I heard that voice, nor the resounding thud near the village edge. She holds the wailing child in her arms, murmuring sweet nothings in his pointed ears. Yes, she would make an extraordinary mate. How is it that when I am around this human woman all I can think of is mating and family?

The wailing has stopped, not that it really matters. No, because now he asks questions that would make the oldest and wisest demon emberrased. "Kagome, why is Sesshoumaru looking at you like Inuyasha does a cup of Ramen?"

As I come back to my senses, two sets of innocent, curious eyes gaze at me.

"I don't know, Shippo. Why don't you go get some dinner," she suggests, turning back to the wide, green eyes of the questioning child. He nods but makes no attempt to move from her lap. "Shippo?"

The small ball of red hair plays with his tail as through trying to determine the words he wants to use, "What about Inuyasha?"

Kagome doesn't miss a beat as she tells him not worry and enjoy dinner. We both watch as he runs to the village, fear barely tainting his scent.

"You zoned out for a while, Sessh." My attention is drawn back to the smirking girl. "You didn't hear a word we said."

I merely snort in retort.

"He wants to know a few things before he says his final opinion. Can I ask you a few questions?" I nod to give her the go ahead. "Can we come back to see our friends?" I nod an affirmative. "Can he play with Rin?"

My brow quirks and I have to ask, "Would Rin forgive me if he could not?"

She begins waving her hands in defense before her chest, "I'll take that as a yes. He also wants to know if," her voice was beginning to waver and weaken, "you were wanting to mate me, and if you were, would he be able to stay?"

I am heartless, but not to the point that I would think of taking a child from its mother. So it comes down to what Kagome would say about becoming my mate. "Would you come if you could keep your child and become my mate?"

She stares at the ground and in the strong voice I have grown accustomed to, replies with a simple, "I would have it no other way."

I am in awe. She knows I hate humans and yet she wishes to become my life partner. She has to be one of the most admirable women, demon or human, I have had the privilage to meet. My mind finally brings in our surroundings. The night has come on in full force and she is shivering in the cool night air. Before I think of the consequences for my actions, I pull her into my arms and hold her in my lap. To my surprise she relaxes there and nuzzles her body to mine in an attempt to gain warmth. My mind begins to race, "Kagome, do you understand what it means to be mated to a dog demon?" I place an emphasis on the word dog for there are different qualities that apply to every demon species and their mates.

She nods her head, "I read every scroll and script my grandfather's library held on dog demons." She pauses a bit sheepishly before continuing, "I wanted to know more after I met you."

That's a shock, after she met me, not Inuyasha. I nod my understanding, but I still want to be sure she knows, "Then you know that it is until death?"

"Yes and if it has to be 'til death," she pauses again, "then I want it to be with you."

I can't help the smile that pulls at my lips as I hear this. Gently I pull her chin up as I lean toward her. When our lips are mere centimeters apart I whisper so only she may hear, "Then you shall be my mate from this moment on." My lips meet hers.

Her arms wrap around my neck as she pulls me closer. Soon her mouth parts, allowing her tongue to venture out. I accept her tongue and a war begins for dominance. I break off the kiss reluctantly. Jow Inuyasha could pass up the sweet taste of heaven for dirt is beyond me, but he shall never taste Kagome. She is mine.

"You should go. I shall be back at dawn for you and the boy." Her eyes are so beautiful in the moonlight, deep and dark.

She shivers before rising to her feet, leaving my protective embrace. She continues to stretch, revealing her midrif to my hungry gaze. I wonder how the rest of her body will taste?

She comes up in front of me and leans down so our cheeks are touching. "Night, mate," she gives me a chaste kiss on the forhead and a very nice preview of her chest over the top of her strange kimono. She runs to the small town allowing the wind to catch her hair and clothes. This mixing with the moonbeams dancing on her body...Kagome could be a celestial maiden in disguise.
