Chapter 3: Sangai no Shikaku
-Kagome's Point of View-
“W-Where am I?” I asked myself as I looked around the dark room, my arms restrained with chains hanging from the wall. “Dear miko... You are... here.” came a sinister voice from somewhere in the shadows. Somehow I recognized the voice though I had never heard it before and somewhere deep down I began to despise the being. “Naraku...” instantly came out of my mouth as the man showed himself. “Ah, I see your memory hasn't been lost after all.” he said, more to himself than me. “What are you talking about?” I asked him, confusion floating on every syllable.
“No matter... You shall soon know...” he told me and in an instant my eyes widened. “You're that man!?” I half asked half demanded. He chuckled. “You are the reason your friends are going to die, miko.” he told me. “What are you talking about!?” I demanded from him. Suddenly I saw a girl with her brunette hair tied into a high ponytail. She looked at me and her eyes were so sad. “Kagome-Sama... How could you do this? Why would you kill me?” she asked me. “W-What? W-Who are you?” I asked her. “I see I am already dead to you...” she whispered before disappearing.
I don't know why, but I felt like I was dying too. “S-Sango?” I stuttered. Where did that come from? Was that her name? A figure of a man with violet eyes and dressed in purple robes appeared. “Lady Kagome, why would you betray us? Why?” he asked me, his eyes full of hurt. “M-Miroku?” I stammered as he disappeared. Why did I suddenly know all these names? A little kistune with orange hair was next. “Kagome... Okaa... How?” he asked me. “Shippou-Chan?” I asked him. He disappeared and my heart lurched. It broke in two. Who were these people? Why did I feel such a longing for them?
My eyes widened as I saw InuYasha next. “InuYasha?” I asked. “Why Kagome? I trusted you... I thought you were different from Kikyou... But you're not... You're worse... Why would you break our bond?” he asked me, his voice garbled and straggling along. He removed his hand from his stomach and I could see the blood. “Why would you betray me?” he asked as he faded. “I didn't do anything!? Why is this happening!? What's going on!!!” I yelled..
“I didn't do anything!? Why is this happening!? What's going on!!!” I yelled as I felt someone shake me. I opened my eyes to look into InuYasha's. I could feel the tears falling down my face. I instantly lunged into his arms. “Gomen na sai... Onegai... Gomen...” I cried into his chest. “Sango-Chan... Houshi-Sama... Shippou-Chan...” I stammered. “Oi! Wench! What's wrong!?” InuYasha demanded from me.
“Takahashi, let her go. Be gentle.” came a calm and aged voice from somewhere. I felt InuYasha leave me go and I almost whined. I looked at the woman. “Miss Kaede?” I asked. “Aye child. Ye are safe now. Ye are safe.” she soothed me. “I-It was horrible!” I confessed as I clung to her. I could feel another pair of eyes on me and I looked to see Kouga, Houjou, and Mr. Nomi. “Tell me what ye saw... Maybe I can help ye...” Kaede coaxed. I nodded as I let go of her.
“I-I was chained and the man from the cafeteria, Naraku was there... He was... so frightening... and yet... I wasn't afraid. He was talking about lost memory... I must be going crazy. It felt so real...” I began, trailing off at the end. “Child, go on...” Kaede beckoned me. I nodded once more. “He said that my f-friends were going to die.. Because of me.. I was so confused... I saw this girl.. With brunette hair and sad eyes. She called me Kagome-Sama... She... She..” I trailed off. “Kagome, you must let us know what you saw... It is of most importance...” Mr. Nomi told me, as if willing me to continue. “She asked me why I killed her... I never saw her before in my life and I felt horrible... I called her Sango. I saw a man.. With violet eyes.. He looked so hurt... He asked why I betrayed them... I called him Miroku...” I said.. I broke down into sobs. “There was a kitsune, Shippou... He called me Okaa...” I finished.
“Who else did ye see?” Miss Kaede asked me. “I-InuYasha...” I whispered. His ears perked up. “Me?” he asked. “Y-You said that you trusted me... Thought I was different than Kikyou... But then you called me worse... I don't know why... But it was like you stabbed me through the heart.. You asked me why I would break our bond... And then you showed me your stomach... You were bleeding.. Bad... I caused it... You asked why I would betray you... I wanted to cry out! I wanted to tell you I would never betray you... I don't know why... But I did...” I said, all in one breath and one sob.
“What's going on?” I absentmindedly asked no one. “Ye will soon know, child. Until it is the right time try to go on with your studies.” Miss Kaede told me. “That settles it... My woman will never leave my side..” I heard Kouga growl. “Y-Your woman?” Houjou stuttered... “Hai... Got a problem with it? Ningen?” Kouga threatened him. Houjou began to speak but was interrupted by InuYasha. “Shut up.. Both of you... You baka's... C'mon Kagome.” he told them and then looked at me. I nodded and he helped me out of the nurse's office, much to an ookami youkai and medicine ningen's dismay.
“A-Arigatou...” I whispered to InuYasha as he helped me find my third period class. “Don't thank me... I couldn't let you faint again... Something I don't need.” he growled at me. I sighed as I rolled my eyes. I watched as InuYasha's figure retreated. I turned around and entered the third period, wiping my face as I walked to a desk.
“Are you okay?” asked a familiar voice. My eyes widened. No! I turned to meet brown eyes and brown hair. “S-Sango..” I whispered. She looked at me with confusion in her eyes. At that instant I felt queasy and felt myself fall. Before I closed my eyes I saw Sango fall to the ground. “Higurashi! Danko!” I last heard before going unconscious.
I opened my eyes to find myself surrounded by the same people as before. I looked over to see Sango staring at me. I tried to sit up but fell back in pain at the same time Sango did. “Make it stop!” I cried out in unison with Sango. “Oi! What's going on!?” I heard InuYasha demand from someone. “Not yet... Ye shall know in time...” I heard Miss Kaede tell him. “Kagome!” I heard Houjou call out.
All these visions of traveling with Sango, the monk, InuYasha, and the kistune came back. I saw Kikyou and InuYasha and my heart broke. I saw Naraku and Kagura. I felt the child, Akago, probe into my soul once more. I saw Naraku kill Kikyou and my heart lurched. “InuYasha!” I screamed in pain as I saw the well and various other people.
The pain finally stopped and I opened my eyes as the tears continued to fall. I sat up and broke into sobs. “Kikyou-Dono...” I whispered. “Kagome-Sama?” I heard the timid voice from beside me ask. I looked over into the eyes of Sango. “Sango-Chan!” I exclaimed and leapt into her arms. “What's going on?” I heard her whisper to me. “I-I don't know.. I don't remember..” I whispered back to her. Suddenly the walls of the haisuku-ru began to shake. The ground quaked and I could feel a very dangerous demonic presence surround me. “INUYASHA!” I yelled in fright.
