Higurashi Kagome walked into the crowded and noisy cafeteria. Where to sit? She asked herself. Everywhere she looked people were either laughing or bullying. Her eyes lit up when she saw an empty lunch table... almost. InuYasha was sitting at one end of the table while the other was free. “Well... It’s better than hanging with... them... or them...” she whispered, looking first at a woman with blood red eyes and a feather in her hair, a very pale woman with black eyes, a violet eyed man with lavender hair, and a dark haired man with crimson eyes. Second she looked at the table that hosted Ookami Kouga, two other ookami youkai’s that seemed to swoon over him and a very infatuated red haired female ookami youkai.

Kagome bowed her head over her Oden and sweat dropped. “I just hope he leaves me alone...” she pleaded as she walked towards the empty edge of the table. Someone stuck their foot out and Kagome tripped right over it. She closed her eyes and braced herself for the fall, but it never came. “Nani?” she asked as she looked into those same pairs of golden orbs as before. She looked at his left hand and saw her tray, with nothing spilled, in it. His right had fit perfectly around her waist, and he noticed. “God damn ningen... Why do you got to be so clumsy?” he huffed. “I never asked you to save me, you know...” Kagome mumbled and immediately he set her up and left for his side of the table.

He’s... peculiar... She looked at her tray and then walked over to InuYasha with a smile on her face. “Uh... Oi... Do you mind?” she asked him sheepishly. He looked over at her with a scowl. “Hai... I do.” he replied. She sighed and sat down. “That means leave, wench!” he growled at her, a lethal note in his voice. She raised her hand at him. “Yea... And I’m not leaving.” she said and began to eat her Oden. After a few moments of silence and InuYasha glancing at her she decided to talk. “So, why do you eat all alone? Don’t you have any friends?” she asked him.

I watched that strange girl from before as she looked for a table. Why am I so drawn to her? She just... looks so much like her. At first, I thought it was her... But it wasn’t... I watched as someone stuck their foot out and rolled my eyes. “Can’t that wench stop being a klutz for once? I’m tired of saving her.” I absentmindedly growled as I rushed over to her, catching her just in time. I held my hand out and grabbed her tray and, with one hand, skillfully caught the other items. “Nani?” I heard her innocently ask. Kami... Her voice... She looked at my left hand and then my right hand, which fit perfectly around her waist.

Shimatta! I don’t want to let go... This can’t be happening! “God damn ningen... Why do you got to be so clumsy?” I demanded. “I never asked you to save me, you know.” she mumbled and I instantly let go of her. And yet I wonder why I keep saving your sorry ass... I left for my side of the table, watching her out of the corner of my eye. I saw her look at her tray and then she began walking my way. What the fuck!?? “Uh... Oi... Do you mind?” she asked with a smile on her face. “Hai... I do...” I snarled. I heard her sigh and sit down. “That means leave, wench!” I yelled. She raised her hand at me. What the hell?! “Yea, and I’m not leaving.” she told me and began to eat her food.

I couldn’t help but glance at her, she was the strangest person I ever met... Aside from... her. “So, why do you eat all alone? Don’t you have any friends?” She asked me. Damn wench... Why does she wanna know all this fucking kuso!

“So why do you eat all alone? Don’t you have any friends?” Kagome asked the very annoyed hanyou to her left. Kouga strolled by and sneered at InuYasha. “Pathetic half-breed. Kagome, he is not worth your very presence.” he smirked. That made Kagome angry. She swiftly stood up. “And I suppose you are worthy? Who are you to decide? Who are you to degrade a person like that? What gives you that right?” she demanded angrily. InuYasha watched with his mouth agape. Kouga just grunted and grabbed her wrist. “My woman will not hang around such filth!”

A deadly and threatening snarl erupted from InuYasha. “She doesn’t want to go she doesn’t have to... If you haven’t noticed this isn’t the Sengoku Jidai anymore, Kouga.” he hissed as he gently grabbed Kagome’s wrist from Kouga’s clasp. Kouga turned his nose. “This ain’t over, half breed.” he warned as he left for his table. InuYasha released Kagome’s small wrist and sat back down. Kagome followed suit and looked at her Oden. “Does that answer your question?” he gruffly asked her. Her eyes shook with anger and sadness. “It’s not fair...” she whispered.

“What isn’t?” InuYasha absentmindedly asked, chiding himself for even keeping conversation. “They treat you like that just because of your heritage... They have no right... They don’t even know what kind of person you are...” she whispered. InuYasha looked at her, his eyes wide with uncontrollable confusion. Why was she being so nice? So innocent? So... her?

Kouga walked by and instantly I knew something was going to happen. “Pathetic half-breed, Kagome, he is not worth your very presence.” he grinned. I could sense the anger just venting off of her. As I heard those words spill from her mouth something stirred inside of me. I didn’t know what it was, I just knew that something was uncovered.

Kouga grabbed her wrist roughly and I saw her grimace. Who was he to harm someone so pure as her! “My woman will not hand around such filth!” he exclaimed. I didn’t hear it, I was too busy snarling at him. “She doesn’t want to go she doesn’t have to... If you haven’t noticed this isn’t the Sengoku Jidai anymore, Kouga.” I said through gritted teeth and gently grabbed her wrist from his. I liked the feeling... What the fuck am I thinking!? She’s a weak ningen! “This ain’t over, half breed.” Kouga warned me and went back to his table. I let go of her wrist and plopped back down on my seat.

She sat down and looked at her food. “Does that answer your question?” I asked her, not really in the mood to talk. I could feel the anger and sadness permeating throughout the air around her. “It’s not fair...” I heard her whisper. I gave a bitter smile. “What isn’t?” I asked, forgetting that I didn’t want her to think we were friends. “They treat you like that just because of your heritage,” My heritage... More like my curse... “they have no right... They don’t even know what kind of person you are..” she gently spoke. I looked at her, I could feel my eyes widen. Why did she have to be so pure? So innocent... And yet... She seemed herself.

Somewhere from a different table someone sat watching the two deep in conversation. So, the half-breed found a companion? Interesting... Interesting it had to be her... the being thought. “My dear Kagome, you are most powerful... And I shall consume you...” they said to themselves. “I’ll be right back...” the man said to the others at his table. He walked past the girl and hanyou, the hanyou’s teeth bared. The girl unconsciously shivered and looked straight at him. He smirked as he felt her fear and let out a small chuckle as she fainted to the ground below her, the hanyou letting out a cry of confusion. What entertaining events... he observed as he watched everything in slow motion. The ookami rushing over, the brown haired ningen stumbling over his own feet to meet her, and the numerous teachers trying to find out what was going on.

A/N: Ahem... Sorry for taking so long... What do you think? I like the last part... I think it’s mysterious... I guess you can think of who it is, but don’t say in case someone doesn’t know. I don’t think InuYasha is OOC... Do you? I mean.. Sure he is a bit sensitive... But think back to the beginning of the series when he first met Kagome, how her innocence surprised him. Anyway, I am working on Chapter 3... It’s all soon to come... Their powers shall be revealed very shortly... Can’t wait! -Squeals-
