Sesshomaru returned to the club every Friday for the next four weeks, he sighed as he sat at the bar. It was 9:15 on the fifth week, he downed his whiskey and paid the bartender. Standing he was ready to leave when he turned towards the door and saw her. The world stopped for him. She was back! He rushed over to the front of the stage to an empty table without difficulty. People had stopped showing up the week after she did. He couldn't help the smile that invaded his face as she took her spot on the stage, guitar in hand. Her face didn't look as sad today. Her sadness was still there but not as strong, perhaps she did some soul searching over the past few months. He gazed at her attentively, not once looking away. His eyes scanned over her form as she played her guitar. When she noticed him she gave him a small smile this time instead of immediately closing her eyes.

I'm not surprised, not everything lastsI've broken my heart so many times I stopped keeping trackTalk myself in, I talk myself outI get all worked up then I let myself downI tried so very hard not to lose itI came up with a million excusesI thought, I thought of every possibilityAnd I know some day that it’ll all turn outYou'll make me work so we can work to work it outAnd I promise you kid that I give so much more than I getI just haven't met you yet

Kagome watched the silver haired man in the audience who reminded her so strongly of Inuyasha. He was so transfixed on her she couldn't help but smile a small smile when their eyes met. She couldn't bring herself to look away this time. Over the last four weeks her father had helped her immensely. She came to accept that sometimes doors close, sometimes they slam rudely in your face but that was no reason for her to be so down. It was an opportunity to find a new opening. Her MD in pediatrics wasn't worth nothing just because she was laid off and she certainly wasn't worth nothing because Koga didn't want her. She found out at the end of the last week he was gay and had two partners on the side while he was with her. It explained a lot, like why their sex life had been completely missing the last few months. She figured he was just stressed, not that she could figure out how a fashion designer could be a stressful occupation. She would make her comeback tonight, two days ago she accepted a new job in the birthing and delivery department of the hospital. She would finally be able to achieve her dream.  Her new job started on Monday and to celebrate she decided she would come sing.

Sesshomaru's heart did a flip in his chest when he saw her smile. What was it about this girl that made him show emotion so easily! Usually his poker face was impenetrable! It came with the job as the CEO of Tokyo's biggest investment firm. When the small smile appeared on her face the whole bar seemed to have lit up. Everyone was focused solely on her, the attention she was receiving from everyone made him even more curious about her. How could something so simple as a small smile command so much attention. Surely it helped that her voice was captivating. She could sing 'row, row, row your boat' and everyone would be focused on her.

...
And someday I know it'll all turn outAnd I'll work to work it outPromise you kid I’ll give more than I getOh you know it'll all turn outAnd you'll make me work so we can work to work it outAnd promise you kid to give so much more than I get yeahI just haven't met you yetI just haven't met you yetOh promise you kid to give so much more than I getI said love love love love love love loveI just haven't met you yet

Before he knew it her song was over and he couldn't stop himself from standing and applauding her, the rest of her audience followed suit. It was a mixture of joy that she was back and true admiration at her performance. At this her smile widened and she could feel the euphoria creeping into her heart again. Tonight she wouldn't cut her fans short with only one song. Smiling she began to play a new song, her playing took on more enthusiasm as the night progressed.

At half past ten Kagome finished her last song and put the guitar back in the case. Smiling at her crowd, which had grown slightly since she arrived, she stood and said her thank yous. She escaped through the back door again and Sesshomaru frowned. He wouldn't let her escape again! He rushed towards the back door and again saw nothing. He was beginning to wonder if he was going crazy and this woman was just a projection of his imagination. Was he really so lonely that he was making women up? He let out a resigned sigh and headed back inside. He took up his place at the bar again and ordered another drink.

The stool next to him scraped across the floor and he looked up from his drink. Preparing to tell the person who invaded his personal space to bugger off he looked into the offenders face only to be met with the girl who plagued his mind for the last month. Smiling at him she perched upon the stool and ordered a blackberry daiquiri. Nothing was said between the two as the bartender made her daiquiri. When he set the drink in front of the girl she smiled and poked her finger into the whipped cream sticking the digit quickly into her mouth the sweet creamy tasty assaulting her taste buds and she fought back a moan. She couldn't remember the last time she indulged in a sweet beverage, let alone an alcoholic one.

Sesshomaru cleared his throat snagging her attention back from the whipped cream on her drink, she blushed and looked his way forgetting why she had come over here to begin with. "So, I enjoyed your show tonight. I'm glad you came back." He mumbled her way, not really sure how to strike up conversation with this girl. "I had only seen you the one time  5 weeks ago. I've been here every Friday since hoping you'd come back. I wasn't sure you would actually come back, I was about to leave when you came in." He looked sheepishly at her surely he sounded like a minor stalker.

"I know. You kind of scared me away. I was already in a dark place and you reminded me of someone I used to know. I guess it just freaked me out a little." She took a sip of her drink and looked up at him shyly. She wasn't sure she was really sure she wanted to associate with men again but there was something about this one. He made her heart beat harder and made her breath catch in her throat. It scared her the first time, she had just gotten out of the relationship with Koga, or rather thrown out of that relationship. She shook her head, "I'm not going to think about that..." She mumbled unconsciously.

He looked at her quizzically, "Not going to think about what? If that's not too personal?" He inquired almost hesitantly. He didn't want to scare her away he still wanted to know more about her.

She sighed, there really was no reason to hide it, "Eight weeks ago I just went through a real rough patch, my life pretty much fell apart while I scrambled to pick up the shattering pieces. My parents separated despite 26 years of marriage, they said the last 7 were just faked for mine and my brother's sake..." She took a long drink from her daiquiri, she wasn't really sure why she was sharing with this man who she only just met. "After that my boyfriend of two years broke up with me via note on the whiteboard..." She polished off her drink and as if the alcohol gave her more clarity she stopped her train of thought, "I'm not even sure why I'm telling you this, I don't know you. I don't even know your name! But at the same time, I feel like I can trust you... are you even interested, or are you just trying to get me to go home with you?"

"I'm quite interested in you." He said defensively, he had morals and he would not just take a lady home because he felt she was attractive. She needed to have a brain in her head too. "My bea- er subconscious won't stop trying to analyze you. We're, I mean I'M very interested in you. The emotion you showed the other night, you were just so raw like something I'd never seen before." He was stumbling over his words, it was so out of character! What was this girl doing to him! He hadn't even been around her for very long.

She quirked an eyebrow at him, he was a bit strange but wasn't that what attracted her to him in the first place? She shrugged and went on, "After I got that note I stayed with my father, I'm still staying with my father till I find a new place. And then when I went into work I got laid off despite being the best damn pediatrician at the whole damn clinic!" She slammed her empty glass on the bar, this event still angered her. There was no reason for her to have been laid off even after she offered to take a pay cut! Even with the new job where she was one step closer to her dream! Other customers in the bar looked at her with strange looks, then turned to glare at Sesshomaru for angering the lady. He held up his hands defensively showing he didn't do anything. "Sorry..." she mumbled idly playing with the glass now. "The weeks that followed were hard but my father was there for me when no one else really was. I focused so much on my work and school I lost touch with my friends." She said sadly

Sesshomaru sat in shock at how quickly this woman's emotions changed. She was crazy! First she was shy and interested, then she's suspicious, then she's angry and now she's sad! He looked at her confused, he'd never met someone so open with the way they felt. Perhaps that was why she chose to be a children's doctor. His attention snapped back to her face when she began talking again, something about having a new job that was essentially her dream job. He was half lost in his thoughts so didn't really hear it all. By the time she finished she was handing the bartender some bills and standing to leave. "No wait!" He jumped up, the stool he was occupying wobbled threatening to fall over. She looked at him expectantly. "I want to see you again." He told her more evenly.

She merely giggled at him "Now why would you want to do that? I have a habit of letting people down."

"I..." Why did he want to see her again? "I don't know. You're interesting to me. I'd like to know more about you." He settled on that.

She looked at her phone, 11:30, somehow they had been sitting and talking for an hour, she wasn't sure how. Biting the inside of her lip she sat on the stool again. "Well..." She gestured to his abandoned stool for him to sit, "buy me another drink and ask away!" She smiled, it had been a while since she really had any social interaction outside work. He sat down slowly and ordered her another daiquiri.

They talked well into the early hours of the morning, what he did, what she did, how they grew up, what they did for fun, how she got into singing and before they knew it the bartender was telling them it was time to go. Kagome looked at her phone and gasped at the time, it was 4 AM! She glanced around seeing they were the only ones in the bar, she chalked it up to finally enjoying someone else's company.

Sesshomaru was  just so awe struck by this fascinating girl. She was so compassionate it was a great surprise. When she checked her phone for the time he counted his blessings that he didn't need to go into work today. When she stood to leave he asked "When will I see you again?" She simply giggled and left. He sat there for another minute his mind processing what just happened when he realized despite all the questions they went through he still didn't know her name. He looked at the bartender hopelessly.

"There's always next Friday night Mr. Taisho." Sesshomaru nodded, paid his tab and left the bar.
