Chapter 6: ...And One Giant Leap for Mankind
"Kaede?" A blushing girl asked, as she cracked the hotel door open a little. The younger version of the old priestess gave a grin, then spoke, "Kagome, I'd like you to come with me."
"Um, may I ask why?" Kagome's eyes darted back to the youkai currently laying on her bed, then gave a smile to Kaede.
"Just come, child."
This made the young woman grin, thinking of the past that seemed to have come back to haunt her. Well, not really haunt, but definitely slap her in the face. She still couldn't fathom the fact that the Jewel still continued to exist, and she could only imagine what awaited her in Kaede's room. Said woman gave a small "ahem", breaking the girl out of her thoughts.
"Yes, I'll come. Just, let me change," she forewarded, and Kaede nodded in understanding. Kagome failed to notice when the woman glanced at Inuyasha's half-naked form, as she turned back around to dress. The door closed, and she ambled over to the bed.
"Inuyasha, I'm gonna go see what Kaede wants," she answered his semi-suspicious expression. He nodded, and watched as she walked towards the small closet near the TV set. She pulled her small tink top off, without any hesitation, and let it drop to the carpet. Her breasts had indeed become fuller, pink nipples taunt and at attention. Scarlet orbs filled with Kagome's lithe form, searching for clothes in nothing but her now-cut panties. She grabbed a simple green t-shit and a pair of dark blue jeans.
Kagome glanced over at the youkai staring intently, "What?"
He glanced up to her eyes, then her lips, "Nothing."
She smirked, and began to put on the jeans, "You're such a bad liar."
He grinned, grabbing a pillow, and threw it at her head. She stared, stunned, "What the fuck? A pillow?" She picked it up and tossed back on the bed, "I don't think so."
"You have such a colorful vocabulary, Kagome. I never thought I'd actually rub off on you," he chuckled, which made Kagome smile wider at the welcomed sound. Inuyasha couldn't help but stand up, in a smooth motion, and approach her. He wrapped his muscular arms around her waist, as she put her t-shirt on, which was tight against her upper body. She gave him a bright grin, "You're really into touching now, aren't you?"
He frowned, "I haven't seen you in 10 years, Kagome. I can't help it."
She clasped her hands on his, and whispered, "It's nice."
Moving her long soft hair aside, he planted a gentle kiss on her shoulder, "Don't be too long. We have a lot of catching up to do."
"I bet."

"Miroku, Sango!" Kagome cried out, when she entered through Kaede's door. Shippo gave a smile, as he sat on the couch, and watched the three friends embrace. When they parted, Miroku was the first to speak, "Kagome, I've missed you. It's been too long."
"I know. I've missed you guys so much. I thought we'd never see each other again."
Sango smiled, "Well, here we are. Together again."
Kagome nodded, and took in the odd sight of the couple in modern clothing. Sango, her long black hair in a ponytail, wore a flattering floral pattern purple skirt along with a long sleeved turtle neck blue shirt. Miroku only wore a pair of black dress pants and an off-white t-shirt. Kaede joined them, and began to speak, "We all need to have a talk."
All three nodded in agreement, and paced over to the couch to sit down. The prietess stood in front and glanced at Shippo, then to Kagome, "Kagome, why didn't you tell me Inuyasha was here?"
The young woman blushed, feeling a little guilty for not telling anyone, but they had been kind of busy. She shook her head, "I apologize, but we were talking, and I had no idea Miroku and Sango were here. And Sesshomaru..."
Miroku glared at her, "Sesshomaru?"
"Yeah, apparently he's advisor to the Emperor. He was just on the TV."
Shippo grimaced, "We know. Kaede and I were watching."
"Well, how did he get here?" Kagome questioned, looking up at Kaede, who had her lips pursed.
"I suppose, it was the well. But I doubt he's here to cause trouble."
"But he could be here to kill Inuyasha!" Kagome noted, speaking loudly.
"Nah, I think he's here to get rich," Shippo muttered.
"Well, there's gotta be a reason. Besides, you all need to tell me why you didn't destroy the Jewel, because I'm lost on the whole subject," Kagome said, looking at everyone, still quite pissed about the whole thing. The room was silent for a moment, which made Kagome wince, "What?"
Kaede bowed her head, "It's not as easy as we had first thought. The only true way to remove the Sacred Jewel from this world, is to take it back to the place where it originated from. It was Midoriko's soul, and as such, she has the only true power. Only she can destroy the Shikon No Tama."
Kagome's eyes widened, "So, I'm STUCK with it?"
Miroku turned to look at her, "We have to go back, Kagome."
"Back?"
Sango sighed deeply, "You have to return it to Midoriko."
"Why do I have to?! It's not supposed to be my problem anymore!" Kagome shouted, frustrated with the new information. She took a deep breath, and then whispered, "It's not suppose to be any of our problem anymore."
"Indeed," Kaede murmered, "but it must be done, child. Unless, you want it to stay here."
She shook her head, "I don't!"
"Then, choose."
'Why do I gotta do this shit?! And besides, Inuyasha has the-' Kagome's thoughts were cut off, as her eyes widened, "But Inuyasha has the Jewel in his possesion."
Miroku and Sango's eyes both went big, "What?!"
Shippo turned his head away, to stare at the floor in fake fasination. Kagome noticed his odd behavior, and tapped his shoulder, "Shippo-chan, is there something you need to tell me?"
He shook his head, quickly, and looked up to find all eyes on him, "I-I don't know shit."
"Shippo, don't curse," Kaede scolded, but Shippo scoffed, "Well, I don't!"
"Why does Inuyasha have the Jewel, Shippo?" Kagome persisted. The teenage kitsune glared, stubbornly, at the miko in front of him, "Why's it matter? He's not hurting anybody."
Miroku sighed, "Shippo, just spit it out."
He stuck his bottom lip out, "He used it to open the well back up."
"I know that, but why does he still have it?" Kagome asked.
Shippo shrugged, "I don't know why."
Sango shook her head, "I know why."
"Why?" Kagome spoke, turning her head towards the demon slayer.
"Power. Why else, Kagome?"

The whole darkened room was filled with her intoxicating scent. He couldn't help but roll around on the bed, and take it in. The way she sounded when she came, the way she kissed him, and the sweet passion in her eyes. Inuyasha could tell just by that, she still loved him. Loved him just like then, with all her pure heart. And he still loved her, no doubt about that. Her face had haunted his dreams for the last decade, and now that he had finally found her, he would never let go. Not for the world.
But he needed her to understand. She had to understand why he kept the Jewel, and why he was going to use again. It had granted him Kagome, and made his wish to become a youkai into a reality. He had enough power now to protect her, and to give her anything she desired. He just wanted her to be happy.
He layed his head down onto a fluffy pillow, and breathed in. Jasmine, lilies, and all that was good. She tasted like lemon and vanilla. She was his Kagome. He growled, when a knock came at the door. He got up, opening it a crack, and saw her standing there with Miroku and Sango. He figured they would end up coming, sooner or later. She pushed the door opened, and walked in. She seemed angry, looked like it too. But the smell coming from the beauty before him was that of semi-arousal, fear, and frustration.
"Inuyasha," she stated calmy, approaching him.
He arched an eyebrow, "What's the deal?"
"Give me the Jewel."
"What?!" He shouted, surprised at her sudden bluntness, "no!"
"Inuyasha, we have to take it back. It can't stay here any longer, than it has. So, come on, and give me the Jewel, so we can get on with our lives," she told him, as she glanced at the pink sphere on the desk. Miroku made a dash for it, but Inuyasha easily blocked it, moving quickly towards the table. Miroku grunted, when he slammed into the youkai, and dropped to the carpet. Kagome groaned, "Dammit! Stop being an ass, Inuyasha!"
He glared at her, contempt in his eyes, "Kagome, don't do this."
"Well, what else can I do? We have to destroy it!"
"No, we don't! It brought me back to you!"
Miroku began to crawl past Inuyasha, and made a reach for the orb. The demon growled, and grabbed the back of the monk's shirt, lifting him off the floor. He then threw him towards Sango, who was knocked down with Miroku. Kagome ran behind Inuyasha and grabbed the Jewel, but he grabbed her by the waist, pulling her to him.
"Don't fuck with me, Kagome," he growled, taking the Jewel out of her hands, which had begun to glow. Her chocolate orbs widened when the Sacred Jewel grew brighter and brighter, almost swallowing them whole. She shielded her eyes, as the pink light blinded her. It took her by surprise, when Inuyasha's body began to pulse with an unearthly power. Her eyes welled up with tears, as she watched the room disappear. 'Why, Inuyasha? Why?'
