InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Fallen Part One: Downfall ❯ Someday ( Chapter 9 )
Chapter 9:Someday
Her next conscious thought was not really a thought, but rather more of an emotion. Confusion. `There's no way I heard the voice I heard. He's dead. Dead. I saw him die. He is dead. There is no way in the seven hells, heaven or earth that he could have spoken to me. I must be losing it. I must be going crazy, she thought frantically.
Sango groaned when a cold wet… something… probably a cloth of some sort, was placed on her forehead. Opening her blurry eyes, she saw two faces hovering above her. As they came into focus, Sango paled. Screaming hysterically, the two people above her flinched, the relaxed when she eventually quieted and then passed out… again.

//How the hell did we wind up like this?//
"Miroku," Sango moaned softly in her sleep. "Where are you? Please! Don't go!" with each word, her voice rose with urgency. Tears streamed down her face. "Please! Miroku! Come back! Come back! Don't leave me this way! Don't! Please! I love you!" she sobbed. A sharp gasp was heard in the farthest corner of the hut, where a shadow- cloaked figure sat huddled. "Doesn't that mean anything to you?!… Miroku!" she screamed as she sat up, panting.
//Why weren't we able?
To see the signs that we missed
And tried to turn the tables?//
Looking blearily around, she hastily wiped the tears from her face. Sighing, she whispered his name once more, before lying back down. Her eyes started to drift shut, only to snap back open as she felt a presence near her from behind. A hand caressed her bottom, in a familiar way. On instinct Sango jumped up, and slapped her groper as she rounded on him. A sharp gasp was heard, followed by the sounds of hyperventilation.
"M-Miroku?" she asked, disbelievingly. At his nod, she launched herself into his arms sobbing.
//Nothin's wrong just as long as you know that someday I will
Someday, somehow I'm gonna make it all right
But not right now
I know you're wondering when//
Gently he cradled her to his chest, oblivious to his still healing wounds. It was a miracle. Somehow, something brought him back to life and he had it feeling it was all connected to Kagome. Sighing, he gently rocked Sango back and forth whispering comforting words in her ear. She eventually fell asleep in his arms. She was literally wrapped around him.
//(You're the only one who knows that)
Someday, somehow I'm gonna make it all right
But not right now
I know you're wondering when//
Leaning against the wall, he watched his angel sleep. When this was all over, he would make her his wife. There was no doubt in his mind that they would marry. But first, he had to lift the curse from his bloodline… and tame his lecherous ways. He knew that he could do it. His hands would only be for one woman from now on. He already told her he loved her. Now he would show her just how much.
//And I hope that since we're here anyway
We can end it, saying
Things we've always needed to say
So we can end up staying//
Of course, she won't realize what he's doing until after Naraku is defeated. A plan was already concocting in his devious mind. He smiled softly as she stirred in her sleep. Her grip tightened on his robes as her face scrunched up. A single tear slipped out. Gently he wiped it away with his thumb, and began stroking her hair in a soothing manner.
//Now the story's played out like this
Just like a paperback novel
Let's rewrite an ending that fits
Instead of a Hollywood horror//
How he had been revived still eluded him. Kaede had said they had found her leaning over their bodies crying. She had said that after Kagome passed out, he had taken a sudden intake of breath as if for the first time. Then all went quiet. As they had watched, both Sango and Miroku's minor wounds had healed themselves, and the major ones stopped bleeding and also began to heal at a much slower rate; slower than a hanyou, but faster then a human.
//Nothin's wrong just as long as you know that someday I will
Someday, somehow I'm gonna make it all right
But not right now
I know you're wondering when//
A steady throb formed behind his eyes. He sighed heavily. Sango whimpered again once his steady stroking stopped. He resumed. Closing his eyes, he began to meditate. He needed to reflect on recent events. Things weren't adding up.
//(You're the only one who knows that)
Someday, somehow I'm gonna make it all right
But not right now
I know you're wondering when
(You're the only one who knows that)//
Steadily, his mind slowed and he slipped into a light sleep. He still had extensive healing to do. Sure neither his heart, nor his ribcage were visible through the gaping hole that was once there, but he was still grievously wounded and needed to rest. Sango did too. His last conscious thought was of Sango and how he would make things up to her.
//Someday, somehow I'm gonna make it all right
But not right now
I know you're wondering when
(You're the only one who knows that)//
She had been awake for several minutes, and as she felt his breathing steady she slowly opened her eyes. She studied him carefully. He looked so peaceful, dare she say, so innocent, in his sleep. That sounded funny being said about a known lecher. Slowly sleep claimed her too.
//How the hell did we wind up like this?
Why weren't we able?
To see the signs that we missed
And tried to turn the tables?
But don't think it's too late//
As her eyes slowly slid shut, she uttered the five words that she had not had the chance to say to him before. "I love you too, Miroku." He smirked as he heard those words and let sleep claim the rest of his consciousness.

Shorter chapter than usual, but it had fluff… kinda… so what can I say. It's bound to be short.
