InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Fallen Part One: Downfall ❯ Forgotten ( Chapter 12 )
First off I want thank the following people: Future Dictator, Somnambulicious, WinterBlossom/YukiSakur: you all made me realize something. This is my story and as such I don't really have to change it for anyone. Sure a few people don't understand, but that's because they aren't taking the time to think it through. Most people want things handed to them instead of thinking for themselves. Thank you guys for helping me to see that.
To the confused people: E-MAIL ME WITH QUESTIONS AND TELL ME EXACTLY WHAT YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND. (my e-mail addy is in my profile.) As far as when dreams start and end, I let the lines between the two blur slightly for a reason, but I think I was pretty clear in letting you guys know when dreams start and end. I'M NOT GOING TO LABEL THAT FOR YOU! If there's one thing that irks me, it's when people do that. I refuse to do it so don't ask.
Now if that's all clear I have one more thing I need to say.
I won't be able to post as often as I'd like to anymore because I really need to focus on school. If I don't ace all of my courses to make up for my failing grades from my freshmen year I can very well kiss any chance at a bright futures scholarship goodbye and if that happens then I can very well forget about college. Not gunna happen. So in order for me to focus I have to slack on my fics. Sorry guys, but it's you or my future. I choose my future. Hopefully I'll graduate by May and I can begin to catch up. I will post, but only during the holidays that I have off or weekends. (it won't be very often because I also have to work.) with that depressing note dropped I'm going to let you all read my next chapter!
Chapter 12: Forgotten
//From the top to the bottom
Bottom to top I stop//
When Sesshoumaru headed out to patrol his lands he found nothing of the bastard half-breed that dared desecrate his lands. He had been out a week before he made it to his destination. He himself would investigate this power. Entering the Fenikkusu province, he did need to search far before he came to the object of his ridicule. Even now the wench plagued his mind. As she had since the day he sent her on her way with his brother. He found her in the lord's castle. She looked sallow and ill, as if she had been fighting for her life. He felt an errant little cherub of sympathy parade around in his head for a moment, before it was quickly squashed. Her clothes hung off of her once robust frame and she looked tired. He obviously hadn't seen her when she first made it there. She looked like death reincarnate, but one could easily tell she was on the road to recovery.
//At the core I've forgotten
In the middle of my thoughts//
Looking up at him with wide eyes, Kagome trembled slightly at the enraged look that adorned his face. She knew he was pissed. She couldn't really blame him actually. He had warned her to stay off his lands. But then again it wasn't really her fault. If that bakayarou hadn't chased her here, she wouldn't be in this predicament. `Damn you Inuyasha,' she growled as she mentally cursed him. Not paying attention to the man, erm, demon before her, she completely missed the point where he became annoyed and picked her up by her throat. But she definitely felt it when he slammed her against the wall that was behind her.
//Taken far from my safety
The picture is there//
"What are you doing here wench?"
"…" Kagome refused to reply. Even with her dwindling life, she refused to be looked down upon by him. Besides, she couldn't draw enough breath to talk even if she wanted to.
Sesshoumaru seemed to notice her lack of ability to speak, because he slightly loosened his grip on her neck allowing her to greedily suck in the much-needed oxygen. The wall at her back was her only support now. Since he was gracious enough to loosen his grip she decided it would be in her best interest to answer him as he didn't look any less pissed.
//The memory won't escape me
But why should I care//
"I didn't know where I was, milord. I was half dead either way and fleeing for my life," she replied demurely, in a slightly choked voice. He obviously didn't like her answer because he tightened his grip upon her neck considerably. Kagome began to see black spots in her vision. Her eyes began to bleed red, and she detachedly noticed Sesshoumaru's eyes imperceptibly widen before he was thrown off of her.
Fiery red wings spread from her back in a burst of power. Flames licked at the room around them. Sesshoumaru looked on in shock as flames leapt around him. Recovering from his shock he quickly rose to his feet and charged at her. The red quickly fled from her eyes and she stood stock still for a moment before the impact came. The initial shock sent her breath out of her lungs, and her through the wall. He quickly grabbed her by her neck again and once again her eyes bled red. A wave of flame came rushing towards him, centering from her core. Her aura flashed a malevolent red and the fight was on.
// From the top to the bottom
Bottom to top I stop//
Sesshoumaru was once again sent crashing several feet away from her. This time however he was anticipating it and skidded to a stop on his boot-clad feet. A feral grin crossed his face and he charged once again.
Going solely on instinct Kagome blocked the punch to her face and landed a well-aimed kick to his gut. It would seem see was fast than his lordship, but not by much. With training her speed would be far superior to his. The mere thought set his blood boiling. Sesshoumaru charged in again, using misdirection he managed to land a solid punch to her face that sent her reeling.
//At the core I've forgotten
In the middle of my thoughts//
She lightly brought a hand to her face, and placed her cool fingers to her heated and quickly bruising cheek. With a snarl she lunged for him. She didn't get far however. Even with her slightly superior speed, her fighting technique was reminiscent of Inuyasha when Sesshoumaru first fought him in his father's tomb. In no time he had her pinned to the ground.
From her position Kagome snarled and somehow managed to overthrow the demon lord. Rolling to her feet, she made an upward slash at him with her talons and caught him in the stomach. His armor fell to the ground in pieces and red blotches quickly made themselves at home on his white haori.
//Taken far from my safety
The picture is there//
Disregarding his wounds, he swiftly formed his youki whip and slashed at Kagome. She deftly jumped into the air, but was not fast enough to completely evade the green whip. As she glided to the ground, the lower portion of her kimono, from about mid-thigh down fell and hung at an awkward angle. Angrily Kagome ripped the rest of the material and shortened her skirt considerably. Two slight scratches were seen. A small amount of blood trickled from the wound.
//The memory won't escape me
But why should I care//
Sesshoumaru sent his whip at Kagome again, only to have her purify it with a barrier. Kagome lowered her barrier, and both dropped into a fighting stance. Both lunged for each other at the same time. A blur of movement occurred and then all went silent. Kagome stood with her left hand protruding from Sesshoumaru's stomach, while his hand went through the upper right hand corner of her chest. Kagome glowed blue for a moment before the red slowly leaked out from her eyes. She looked down in shock to find her hand through his stomach and his own hand through her chest.
"It seems we are at a stalemate," Sesshoumaru stated in his usual monotone.
"Déjà vu," was all Kagome could get out before a coughing fit over took her and blood stained her lips. When she regained control of her breathing she looked down at her now human looking hand again and said, "I've seen that before," before she passed out from blood loss and the excruciating pain.

//There's a place so dark you can't see the end
(Skies cock back) and shock that which can't defend//
`This place, I've been here before,' she thought as she looked around the void. It was the same, just the way she left it. Turning in every direction, she once again saw a piercing light. This light was red, as opposed to white, however. It was merely a pinprick of light. This time she did not run for it. She had no desire to. Turning once more, she found nothing but an endless void. When she came full circle, her eyes flashed black. An outer force was hiding something from her. Lightening crackled in her eyes, and she turned once more. Turning 180 degrees from the red light, she was met with a pinprick of gold. Something about it called to her. Unconsciously she took a step forward.
"Seek refuge in the setting sun," a female voice called out to her.
//The rain then sends dripping acidic questions
Forcefully, the power of suggestion//
He watched as her eyes slid back into her head. The only thing that really held her up was the fact that his hand was in her chest and hers was in his stomach. It's a grotesque feeling really, having someone else's hand through one's stomach. For the first time, Sesshoumaru regretted something he did to his brother. The pain was excruciating, not that he would show it. Violently, he extracted his only hand and watched as she slid to the ground. He grimaced as her hand pulled out of his stomach.
Delicately he sniffed that blood that permeated the air. It was odd that he could only smell his own blood. It was almost as if this creature that lay before him did not even exist, and yet she was there before him. He listened intently, but the sound of her rattling breath was the only sound distinguishable. He could hear the blood filling her lunges for a moment, and then it stopped. He noted that he could see her now perfect lung through the gaping hole in her chest.
Her body began to spasm. Somehow, she managed to turn herself onto her side and she began to cough violently. Blood spewed from her lips. It took several minutes of coughing to clear the organ of the vile liquid. Then she settled back on her back and became calm. She was unconscious the entire time.
Turning his back on her, Sesshoumaru formed his cloud and left her to die. Somehow, during their fight they had made it deep into the woods. If she did not die of her injuries, some random youkai would have her for their dinner.
//Then with the eyes tightly shut looking thought the rust and rotten dust
A spot of light floods the floor//
To the left of her, something shot out of the darkness, pulling her in that direction, away from the golden light that so captivated her. With a cry, her eyes bled red, and long talons formed. She clawed at the invisible bonds but found that she could not break free. The blackness slowly overtook her eyes once more, but found that the bonds were quickly sapping her energy. Desperately she reached out for the light as her eyes returned to normal. Then in a desperate attempt, all color fled from her eyes as the whites of her eyes expanded. They seemed to glow with their own light, and some of the void was pushed away. What can now be recognized as brown, root-like tentacles recoiled from the purity of the energy, and Kagome took her chance to run. Her eyes slowly returned to normal as she ran.
Desperately she raced for the golden light. For an eon she ran until finally she could make out something in the center. It looked to be a person, but she could not make it out. The light surrounding the figure was too bright for her to make it out accurately. Growling she shaded her eyes, but gasped in pure horror as the light began to fade. Pushing harder for it she desperately tried to reach it, but was stopped when a voice answered her call.
"Your rescuer shall find you, you cannot find him. Seek your other half in the moon, but beware of its' sharp edges."
//And pours over the rusted world of pretend
The eyes ease open and its dark again//
Even after the rather confusing message, Kagome tried to reach the light. Onward she ran until it was just within reach. Just as her fingers grazed the surface, there was ripple. It grew and stretched outward, more following in the first one's path. The void distorted and then cleared and as the last of the ripples faded, she was placed in a new dreamscape.
It was the forest again. The sun had already set.
The creatures of the night were already beginning to surround her. They were attracted to her power. Even now, while they were inactive, it attracted them like a beacon. She was the ray of light in the void. She was a sitting duck.
The natural chorus of the night hushed into a heavy silence and held its' breath. They lay silent hoping against hope the predators that surrounded them would overlook them. Tonight they were lucky, for the predators had their attention focused upon something more obvious. The trees began to groan and whisper. Their whispers grew in volume until it was a deafening. A twig snapped and all hell broke loose. From all directions creatures of varying sizes and power levels burst forth in synchronous.
//In the memory you'll find me
Eyes burning up//
A scream escaped Kagome's throat as she was buried under a pile of demons. As the last of her was buried, a name escaped her mouth. Shockwaves went through the pile, and were blown back. Surprise was evident in everyone present, especially Kagome. The demon's surprise was more based on Kagome's appearance than whom she called out for however.
Large bird-like wings of flame burst from her back. That was what had pushed the demons back. Flames also licked at her body, destroying her school uniform, but forming a beautiful flowing kimono around her. It was a low-cut, off the shoulder piece, that hugged her waist and the belled out into a wide skirt. (think Lulu from FFX) Wind whipped round her, and lightening crackled in her blood red eyes. Long black talons had burst forth from her human nails, which under different circumstances would have been extremely painful, but Kagome was to encumbered with shock at the person she had summoned.
//The darkness holding me tightly
Until the sun rises up//
In a flash of blinding white, he stood before her in a protective stance. She could hear him snarl at the demons, who had regained their courage and began to creep forward. When his warning was ignored, he lunged at them, rending them limb from limb.
Just as the sun began to rise, he killed off the last of her attackers. He turned to her, but the sun lay directly behind him, leaving his features in shadow. Just as she reached out to touch his face, the dreamscape began to ripple, much like water, and then fade. With a cry she tried to reach him, but his image had already faded.
//In the memory you'll find me
Eyes burning up
The darkness holding me tightly
Until the sun rises up//
