Fallen Samurai

It was a calm and clear moonlit night, and the air was quiet and still. Still as death you might say, for a life had indeed been taken. However, this wasn't the innocent life of a pure soul, thought the one who stood over the now rotting corpse. No. This was a demon and demons are anything but innocent. The demon slayer withdrew her weapon and left the good for nothing piece of filth to rot with a white feline following her, the smell of the demon's blood filling the forest.

"That's one less demon in this world, Kirara," spoke the Demon Huntress. "But I won't be satisfied until they are all dead."

The small feline looked up at her mistress thoughtfully with glowing eyes before follwing her through the brush. After a ways walk the pair came upon a hot spring. Laying down her Hirakotsu and armor, she removed her inner garments before stepping into the refreshing hot water. After another day of "cleansing the world of the impurities" as she called it, Sango felt content with a nerve relaxing bath. Just before she got too comfortable, she picked up a stone and threw it in the bushes.

"What are you looking at pervert!" she demanded.

The was a sound behind the bushes followed by a yell. Sango quickly wrapped herself up and looked behind the bushes. Whoever it was had began to fled, but the glint of blue-colored beads in the moonlight caught her eye. Suspecting it was a demon, Sango quickly put on her armor and headed after the brute in the direction he had teken off. She tried tracking, but his trace was hard to follow.

"Damn that bastard!"

"You should watch your tounge and mind to whom you speak to."

Before Sango could respond, she was pinned to the ground by a large plant-like demon. It's vines encircled her body and gripped her neck, suffocating her. Kirara came to her aid by increasing her size and spat out fire at the vines that held her mistress captive. Sango gapsed for breath and just as she drew her weapon, the wind seemed to switch directions. It was as if a giant tunnel of wind was sucking them and everything else in. Sango braced herself with Kirara, but the demon had no chance. It vanished into thin air. Once she was composed, Sango noticed a shadow in the distance.

"Are you all right?"

"I'm fine, but I had everything under control," she retorted. "I did not ask for any assistance."

"Of course not. There was no time for questions, but from where I stood, things appeared to be out of hand."

"Who do you think you are? What gives you the right to-" she trailed off when she saw a glint in the shadows that appeared to be blue beads. "It's you! Show yourself!"

The figure fled, with Sango close behind in pursuit. When she reached a clearing, there was no sign of anything or anyone. The demon had eluded her this time, but she would find him.

"Dammit!" she spat. "Looks like we're on another demon hunt Kirara. Pick up his trail so we can find him and repay him for his generosity." She snickered and followed Kirara into this forest of silence of which her next prey hoped to find salvation...but would would fail.
