Chapter 4

Kagome woke up the next morning and stretched her body out. She arched her back as her arms raised high above her head. She moved her neck side to side to release any kinks from throughout the night. When she was finished, her head flat against her pillow, she stared up at the ceiling and smiled. She and Sango kissed. A lot. They are together. Together together. Her first crush turned into the first person she ever fell in love with, is now her first actual relationship. Hopefully her only ever relationship, but it is still kind of early on to think about that so she shoved those thoughts away for the time being. She rolled over in bed and sat up, noticing Sango is still asleep in her own bed. She blushed thinking about last night.

After they agreed that they both wanted to be girlfriends, they spent the next thirty minutes making out. Nothing more was said until they were both too exhausted to stay up any longer. They had said a quick goodnight before crawling into their separate beds and fell asleep quickly and happily.

Now, Kagome is sitting up in bed and staring at her sleeping girlfriend like a weirdo. But damn, she didn't care how weird it is. Sango is too fucking perfect to not ogle all the damn time.

'Girlfriend.' A huge grin spread across her face. 'I definitely like the sound of that.'

She stretched one more time before standing up to get ready for her day. She quietly moved around the room to try and avoid waking Sango. She went to the restrooms, took a quick shower, brushed her teeth and hair and then got dressed for the day.

When she walked back into their room, Sango was sitting up on her own bed and stretching the night away. Kagome smiled shyly at her before sitting down next to her, their legs barely touching. When Sango was finished stretching out her limbs, Kagome moved her face by the chin and looked into her eyes.

"Good morning."

Sango smiled. "Morning."

Kagome leaned in slightly, her eyes half lidded as she spoke again. "You know when we first met, I told you you were beautiful? I meant it." Kagome pulled Sango in and lightly brushed her lips against hers.

Sango put her arms around Kagome's waist and smiled warmly against her lips. "You are the beautiful one, Kagome." Their lips collided once again, a little more forcefully this time.

Kagome put her arms around Sango's neck and pulled her body closer. Their mouths are moving against each other as if it was the most natural thing in the world. When they finally had to pull away for air, Kagome rested her forehead against Sango's and giggled.

"What's so funny?"

Kagome pulled back and moved a strand of Sango's hair to behind her ear.

"I just.. Love you. So much."

Sango kissed Kagome chastely on the lips before moving her lips across Kagome's chin and then to her throat. Kagome gasped when she felt Sango's lips and tongue ghost across her pulse point.

"Mmmm. I love you too, Kagome."

"S-Sango." Kagome whined, barely above a whisper.

Kagome pulled back and looked down at Sango apologetically.

Sango laughed and shook her head in amusement. Kagome stood up and then held her hand out to help Sango stand up as well. Kagome pulled Sango close and gave her another lingering kiss, almost forgetting about the door until there was another knock. She practically growled when she pulled away.

Kagome stomped over to the door, ready to maim a certain hanyou, but when she swung the door open, her eyes widened in surprise.

"Mama? Gramps? Souta?" She glanced back at a blushing Sango before looking again at the unexpected visit of her family. "Wh-what are you guys doing here?"

"Is that anyway to greet your family, young lady?"

Kagome blushed, "sorry, Gramps. I was just surprised, that's all." She gave her mother and grandfather a warm hug and a fist bump to her brother before inviting them in. "So uh, what brings you by?"

"Kagome dear, did you forget that we said we would be visiting the day after your birthday?" Her mother looked over at Sango who was awkwardly standing behind Kagome, then she looked back at her daughter. "Are you going to introduce us to your friend, Kagome?"

Kagome chuckled nervously, "s-sorry mama. This is Sango, my roommate and uh.." She looked over at Sango and decided to leave it at that for the time being. "Um Sango, this is my mom, grandfather and little brother, Souta."

"You're being weird, sis. What? Is she your girlfriend or something?"

Kagome narrowed her eyes at her little brother. "Listen here you little brat -"

"Kagome, dear."

Kagome gulped, "y-yes mama?"

Mrs. Higurashi turned to Gramps, "why don't you take Souta for some hot chocolate? Wherever you found it the last time we were here, and then we'll all do something for lunch later."

Gramps grumbled something about kids and their chocolate obsession before putting his hand on Souta's shoulder and dragging him out.

The last thing the women heard before the door shut was, "but Gramps! It was just getting good!"

Kagome sat down on Sango's bed since it was the closest thing to her, and put her face in her hands. Sango sat down next to her feeling slightly weird about the situation. Sure, her family knows about her sexuality and her friends here on campus know, but she wasn't expecting to 'meet the family' so soon. Whatever Kagome wants to do or say though, she will back her up.

Mrs. Higurashi pulled the desk chair over in front of Kagome and sat down. She grabbed her daughter's hands from her face and held them lightly. "Kagome? Will you look at me?" When Kagome only shook her head in response, Mrs. Higurashi spoke again. "Why are you refusing to look at me, dear?"

"I.. I was gonna talk to you today.. but then Souta had to go and run his mouth."

"So, what he said is true?"

Kagome looked into her mother's sincere eyes. "Y-yes mama.. A lot has happened in these last few months. I uh.. I'm.." Kagome grunted and buried her head in her hands once again.

Sango put an arm around Kagome's shoulders and squeezed lightly, before whispering into her ear. "It's okay Kagome. I'm here with you."

Kagome turned to look into Sango's eyes and gave her a small smile before looking back at her mother. "Sango is.. my.. girlfriend. We uh.. only just admitted how we felt last night.. Mom, I'm.. gay."

Kagome wasn't quite sure what she was expecting when coming out to her mother, but it wasn't the huge smile that broke out onto Mrs. Higurashi's face. Immediately, she was in her mothers arms and being squeezed tight.

"Mama?"

"Kagome. You are my daughter and I love you, no matter what. Are you happy?" Kagome nodded her head against her mothers shoulder. "Than I am happy." Mrs. Higurashi pulled back and then wiped a tear off of Kagome's face before turning to Sango. "You seem to really care for my daughter."

"Yes, ma'am."

"Well then I am happy to get to know you and I hope you both will be very happy together."

All three women smiled.

After the initial awkwardness of coming out to her mother, everything went by more smoothly. Sango excused herself to get ready for the day. While Sango was in the shower, Kagome decided to tell her mother about all that has happened in the last few months. She started with how she started feeling confused about her manifesting feelings for Sango. She told her about her new group of friends. She told her how Inuyasha, Kikyo and Jakotsu had been a huge help in her understanding who she is and being okay with that. She mentioned that throughout the last three months she began to fall deeper and deeper in love with Sango.

"I really love her, mama."

Mrs. Higurashi smiled and grasped Kagome's hand in her own. "I am so happy for you, Kagome. I do have one question though."

Kagome gulped at the seriousness in her mothers voice and gaze. "Wh-what is it?"

"You mentioned how you are only out with your group of friends, and she is also. Does this mean you are keeping your relationship a secret?"

Kagome thought for a moment. She loves Sango. Sango loves her. Sure, there might be some assholes out there but why would she want to hide the only person she has ever felt this way about? Finally, she spoke.

"We.. haven't talked about that. I think.. I think I would be okay with being out with her, if she is."

Mrs. Higurashi gave Kagome's hand a small squeeze. "Do whatever you feel is right dear, but remember, it does not matter what anyone else thinks. If you love each other, you can show it. Go to the movies, out to eat, walk each other to class. Don't just hide away from the world because you are scared. You have so many people who love you, Kagome. We are always here for you. If Inuyasha and Kikyo can go out on a date and kiss with no one batting an eye, then you can too."

Kagome immediately blushed, "mama." She whined.

Mrs. Higurashi laughed lightly. She stood from her chair and helped Kagome to her feet when there was a light knock at the door. "Just, do what you both want to do. Not what random people might want you to do. It's your life. Live it and be Happy."

Kagome hugged her mother tight. "I love you, mama."

"I love you too, dear."

Kagome opened the door for her grandfather and little brother and as she was about to close it, she saw Sango rushing down the hall to catch her before the door fully shut. She smiles and holds it open for her to come in and then closes it behind her.

"What took you so long? You're usually pretty quick."

Sango held out a coffee. Kagome's eyes sparkled and she squealed as she took the large cup and breathed in its devine essence. She took a sip and her eyes practically rolled back at the taste.

"You got my favorite latte! Thank you, Sango!"

Completely forgetting about the audience, Kagome pulled Sango close and planted a big wet kiss to her lips. She took another large gulp of her french vanilla latte but stilled when she looked over and saw a blushing Sango, smiling Mrs. Higurashi, smirking Souta and scowling Gramps.

Kagome slowly lowered her latte and gulped. "Uhhh.."

Souta laughed. "I knew it! I knew you were a lesbian!"

"Souta!" Kagome hissed through clenched teeth.

Gramps scowl deepened. "No granddaughter of mine will choose to ruin her life like this! You will marry a man and have children of your own!"

"Gramps. Hold on." Tears are burning behind her eyes. She takes a few deep breaths in and let them out slowly. Her mother speaks up first.

"Now father. You cannot force Kagome into a loveless marriage. Who she marries is none of our concern."

Kagome blushes crimson, "Wait wait wait."

"Sis! Are you getting married!? Awesome!"

"No! I am not getting married!" She looked over at Sango apologetically. She reached over and grabbed Sango's hand and squeezed. "Gramps, Sango is my girlfriend and I love her." She turned to her little brother and narrowed her eyes. "And yes Souta, I am gay. Now what in the world do you mean you knew it!?"

Souta chuckles. "It was obvious, Sis. Inuyasha was so cool and you never wanted to date him! All the boys that you turned down was crazy! If I had that many girls after me I would have been in heaven."

Kagome groaned and took a long gulp of her latte. Was it really that obvious to everyone but her? She ignored her brother and looked back at her still scowling grandfather. "Gramps. Please. I'm still me. I can still get married, someday. I can still have kids, whether it be insemination or adoption. The past three months I have been falling hard and fast for Sango and I'm not going to give her up as soon as I find out she feels the same way." She sighs and gave him a hard look. "Whether you approve or not." She turned to Sango who was standing awkwardly to her left, squeezing her hand tightly and blushing adorably.

Gramps finally let out a puff of air and walked forward to stand in front of Kagome and Sango. "I love you, granddaughter. Nothing with change that. It might take me some time to get used to this, but I will not tell you how to live your life." He pulled Kagome into a big bare hug, Kagome losing her grip on Sango's hand and also clutching her coffee in her other hand so it doesn't spill. When he pulls away he stares hard at Sango. "You better not hurt her. My girl has never been in a relationship before and I don't want her heart broken."

Kagome groaned, Souta snickered in the background, Mrs. Higurashi smiled warmly and Sango held her hand out. Gramps took her hand with his and shook it firmly.

"I do love your granddaughter. I have for a while now and I will do everything I can to make sure she knows that."

Gramps nodded curtly. "Well, alright then." He looks around at his family and smiles. "Now that that is over with. Who's hungry?"

Kagome looked at her phone, "It's only 11:05, Gramps. You want lunch now?"

"Why not? Have you eaten breakfast?" At Kagome's shake of the head, he continued. "Than lets go. Show this old man some of the campus food you have. And bring your girlfriend too, I would like to get to know the girl who stole my grandbabies heart."

Kagome blushed but agreed. Kagome held Sango's hand while they all walked to the sushi place that Kagome and Sango love so much. Souta kept asking tons of questions about Sango and how they ended up together. His young teenage boy filter was proving to embarrass Kagome more and more. The good news is Souta and Mrs. Higurashi love Sango and Gramps doesn't not like her. So that's a start.

After lunch, they all took a walk on the beach and watched the waves crash against the shore. Kagome turned to see Sango's hair blowing beautifully in the breeze. Sango turned and looked at Kagome with such love in her eyes, it made her heart stop. Kagome stopped walking and pulled Sango close. Their bodies pressed against each other, lips inches apart. No one and nothing else matters in this moment.

"I love you."

Sango smiles and leans in closer. "And I love you."

Kagome closes the gap between them, slowly and sensually moving her lips against Sango's. She is pouring her heart and soul into this kiss. Sango's lips are so soft and warm. She knows she could kiss this woman for the rest of her life and be the happiest person to ever live.

When they pull apart, their foreheads rest against the other and huge smiles spread across their faces. After a minute, their romantic moment was ruined by three dings going off on Kagome's phone. Kagome pulled away to take her phone out of her back pocket and check her messages. Her face flushes hotly at what she sees. She shoves the phone towards Sango to show her and Sango blushes but lets out a small giggle.

Kagome's mother had texted her from just a few feet away.

And attached are three photos.

The first one is when Kagome had first pulled Sango close to her. Their bodies pressed against each other, smiles on their faces and they are staring longingly into each others eyes.

Kagome quickly saved the pictures to her phone and set that third picture as her lock screen and then set the kissing picture as her home screen. No one can easily access that one other than Inuyasha and Sango, the only two who have her password. She sent the photos to Sango and then put her phone away.

She blushed when she turned to her family. Souta obviously trying not to laugh and Gramps has a much smaller scowl than he had earlier. Her mother smiling widely.

"Thanks, mama." Kagome said quietly.

After a very refreshing day with her family and girlfriend, they said their goodbyes and left to go back to the shrine. Kagome and Sango were on their way back to their dorm when Jakotsu stopped them.

Kagome groaned and Sango laughed. Sango knows just how much Jakotsu enjoys teasing Kagome.

"Hi, Jak." Kagome replied.

"Sooo, I believe you owe me some deets Kags."

Kagome immediately turned as red as a tomato. "What the hell are you talking about!?"

"You gotta tell me about your first time! How was it?"

Kagome slapped her hand to her forehead while Sango laughed next to her. She turned to give her girlfriend a hard look. "Do not encourage his behavior." She turned back to Jakotsu. "First of all, nothing happened! Secondly, isn't there some kind of rule where you ask me this in private!?"

Jakotsu waved his hands in front of his face in a dismissive manor. "Hold up. Are you saying after pining for her all these months, you didn't jump at the chance to fuck her!?"

Sango took Kagome's hand in her own and gave it a squeeze. "Don't worry about it, Kagome." She looked up at Jakotsu and smirked. "Her family interrupted a heated moment this morning."

Sango and Jakotsu broke out into a fit of giggles at Kagome's expense. Kagome's eye twitched in annoyance.

"Are you two finished?"

They wiped their eyes from fallen tears caused by laughing so hard and turned to Kagome.

"Guurl, ya need to lightin' up. Have fun and flaunt it!"

Kagome turned to Sango and saw that sparkle in her eye that she loves to much. She smirked and pulled Sango close by the hand until their faces were centimeters apart.

"I can do that." Kagome said before smashing her lips to Sango's. Sango wrapped her arms around Kagome's hips while Kagome pulled her even closer by the back of the neck.

Jakotsu whistled loudly, "that's what I'm talkin' about!"

Kagome pulled away and smiled hugely. She put her arm around Sango's waist and turned back to her annoying but great friend.

"You know, I don't know what I would have done without you Jak. You really have been a good friend to talk to."

Jakotsu feins tears and puts a hand to his heart. "You know I love you Kags. From the moment you walked into that party those months ago, I knew you were special."

"What, because I'm gay?" Kagome teases.

Jakotsu laughs, "that's not the only reason."

Kagome slaps him playfully on the arm before glancing at Sango and then looking back to Jakotsu. "Well, we had a long day. It was good seeing you Jak."

"You too, Kags." As Kagome and Sango were walking away, they heard Jakotsu yell out; "have fun tonight, you two!"

Kagome and Sango laughed. Kagome looked over at Sango and smiled.

"Can you believe him?"

Sango shook her head in amusement. "He means well."

"I know." She smiles to herself, thinking of all the ways Jakotsu has helped her since she first met him.

When they made it back to their room, they sat down on Kagome's bed, criss cross, facing each other.

"I wanted to talk to you about something, Sango."

Sango noticed the nervousness in Kagome's demeanor, so she grabs Kagome's hands and smiles encouragingly. "You can tell me anything, Kagome."

"It's uh.. about this." Kagome used a hand to make a motion back and forth between them, showing she means them being together.

"Well.. You know that I've never uh.. been in a relationship before." Sango nodded her head to show she is listening. "This is all still knew to me. I um.. Sango smiled and wrapped Kagome in a huge hug. "I'm so lucky to have you, Kagome. I would shout it from the rooftops that I have the best girlfriend in the world."

Kagome pulled back to look into Sango's beautiful eyes once again. "So, you're okay with.. holding my hand on the way to class?"

Sango inched her face closer. "I'm happy to do that. I'm happy to do more than that, Ka-go-me." She leaned in and captured Kagome's lips with her own. She lightly pushes Kagome back by the shoulders, causing her to lay back onto the bed, her head on the pillows.
