InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Fate and Free Will ❯ Holy Kuso ( Chapter 1 )

[ P - Pre-Teen ]
She awoke with a splitting headache. Sitting up she brought her hand up to her head and almost smacked herself with the round object she was clutching in her hand. 'What the hell?' she thought as she studied it . It was a very beautiful jewel of some sort. It was vaguely warm as she held it. Shrugging she put the jewel in the pocket of her jeans as she stood. 'Where the heck am I?' She had fallen asleep on the park bench but this was most definitely not the park and she was most definitely not on the park bench anymore. She was in an open meadow, next to what looked like a worn out old well. 'An old well? Where the heck did an old well come from?' The trees around her were not in the ordered rows that those of the park but were instead scattered as in a real forest. Birds were singing as the sun shone brightly. One tree seemed to tower above the rest. Curiosity had always been her downfall and this time would be no exception. Forgetting that she was in a completely strange place she headed for the tree.

It was huge. The trees roots erupted from the ground, arching only to plunge back into it. Climbing over the roots she began to circle the tree. Some strangler vines looked like they were starting to make their way up the side of the tree and there was a person held against the tree by some of them. 'What a minute a person?' Clambering up the roots she went to get a better look. It was a guy, she could tell and he was held not only by the vines but an arrow as well. He was wearing some kind of strange red pants and coat. His hair was thick and as white as new fallen snow. Poking up from the mass of hair were two furry white ears. As she studied this person her mind was racing. Red clothes, white hair, ears. She almost fell off the tree as she finally added up all the pieces to the puzzle. "Holy shit," her voice came out as a whisper.

Backing down the root and away from the tree her more sensible half was trying to convince her that she was wrong. 'It's impossible. It can't be. Its only a story. Why would I be here? I didn't fall through a well. I was sleeping. No more sleeping in the park for me. That's it, it's a dream. I've got to wake up.' Turning away from the tree and the person stuck to it she started pinching herself. "Come on, wake up baka."
When the only thing she succeeded in doing was making her arms red, she turned back to the tree and pulled the jewel from my pocket. "Holy shit. If he's.then this is.holy shit."
Sinking slowly to the ground her doe brown just stared. She didn't want to think about where she was or who was pinned to the tree before her or who might be coming if this was where she thought she was. She heard voices approaching but couldn't move, except to automatically repocket the jewel. Soon she was surrounded by several men, talking in low whispers that she knew was Japanese.

"We should take her to Kaede-sama, she looks sick."

'Holy shit.' Her mind decided that it needed to take a break from all the shock and the world went black.

When she awoke again, she was laying on something soft. They only sounds she could hear were those of a crackling fire. Something cool and wet was on her forehead. She reached up and pulled the rag away as she set up. A calm and aged voice spoke, "Ah so ye are awake."

She turned to see the old woman, stirring something on the fire. She had long grey hair pulled back in a leather cord. A black eye patch rested over her right eye. "Holy shit," she whispered.

"So ye are from a foreign place. What were ye doing in Inu-Yasha's forest?" the old woman demanded.
She didn't answer. All she seemed able to do was stare at the woman in shock. She could understand what the woman was saying but obviously the woman didn't understand her. 'That's cause you're speaking in English stupid,' her more intellectual half spoke up. 'So how the hell did I get to Japan?' she argued with herself. "What is ye name child?"

"Akari," she responded automatically.

Before the woman could ask another question, they both heard cries of "Kaede-sama! Kaede-sama!"
The woman, Kaede heaved herself to her feet and poked her head out the door. "What is it?"

"We found another one!" the breathless man said.

Kaede grabbed a bow from beside the door and followed the messenger, telling Akari not to move. Akari crawled to the window and looked out. The men were escorting a girl, much younger than Akari. The girl had shoulder length ebony hair and she looked at everything with an expression of great confusion. She was shoved roughly to her knees which must have hurt considering she was wearing her school uniform that consisted of a short skirt. Before anyone asked any questions, Akari knew who the girl was. "Oh kuso," she said again, retreating to the corner.
She hugged her knees to her chest. This wasn't happening. This couldn't be happening. It was only a story. It wasn't real. It was only a story. Akari began to rock back and forth, slightly, then put her forehead on her knees and began to cry.
