Chapter 4 – Future revealed
Imagine a future where youkai still roam the earth and human beings live in fear of these supernatural creatures. Imagine a world ravaged by a bloody war in which man fights to exterminate these beings that suppress them. Imagine a world in which magic combines with the technology man to create weapons of immense power. This is the future I see for mankind.
Jimetsu gazed up his creation. It was a marvel of technology and magic. This weapon would seek out and destroy youki everywhere around the world, the Hakaisha. The pleasure he felt looking at the huge machine was close to orgasmic. He turned to the gathered generals. Soon all who were tainted by youkai blood would be purged from the earth and the stupid war would end. “Sirs, what you are about to witness is the salvation of mankind,” turning again, this time to his assistant he barked. “Bring the Shikon no Tama.”
A young woman brought the jewel forward and set it in it’s’ place on the weapon. The operator flicked this switch and pushed that button causing the machine to hum to life. Jimetsu looked askance at the leaders, who nodded. “Fire when ready,” he said.
Countdown began; the humming grew louder as the weapon gained energy from the sacred jewel. Suddenly the warning alarm began to sound. Jimetsu looked around in confusion. “What’s happening?” he cried over the annoying sound.
“There’s an overload in the system, sir.”
‘Damn it!’ “Then shut the damn thing down!”
“We can’t sir!”
With those words panic spread among the operators, everyone began running for the exits but Jimetsu knew it would not help. The amount of energy the weapon was gaining from the Shikon no Tama would destroy everything for miles. He slowly slid to the floor, waiting for the end he knew would come.
The Hakaisha. A weapon of such power that its overload destroyed the earth. In only one future this event can be allowed to happen. The Hakaisha was created in multiple futures with the same disastrous results, ripping holes in space and time, destroying all earths. Time lines converged to one destiny, total annihilation of creation and all that created it. This I must prevent. Man must not become bound to his fate.
Inu Yasha and his company fight on through many dangers, accompanied by one I have chosen, who knows all that is to happen. With much difficult and restraint she refrains from changing events, as I have told her she must not, though her very presence seems to be changing the taiyoukai of the Western Lands. The crumbling of the stoic youkai’s hardened heart is proceeding much faster than it should. Without a word from the girl, he begins to feel something he has not felt for many centuries. With the introduction of Rin the metamorphosis is almost complete. Enemy becomes disguised friend. Akari travels with her new companions developing bonds of friendship that run deep and will assist in the upcoming battle with the being known as Naraku. I have yet to reveal to her the choice she must make. The time for that has not yet drawn near.
