Inuyasha felt Sango stir around just before the sun rose over the horizon. He looked down into her face, he had caught himself staring at her face almost the whole night. She was a very beautiful female, and he had to fight the urge to kiss her. Her lips, he was sure that they would taste like heaven. "This is so wrong, I can not think of her like this. She is a taijya, a demon slayer and I am a half demon. We could never.." He shook his head and looked up towards the pink horizon.

- I-Inuyasha?

- Yes Sango?

- W-what.. ? Why am I sitting in your lap? she stuttered.

- You fell asleep in the pond last night; I tried to wake you up but… I picked you up and…

He bit his lip; she was going to slap him when she knew that he had dressed her.

- You have clothed me as well?

Her question was more of a statement than anything else. She saw turn his face towards her and he nodded, a small blush grazed his cheeks.

- I did not look, I promise, he said.

- Thank you Inuyasha, it was nice of you.

And then she kissed his cheek. It was a very quick peck, but their faces touched for a split second. Silence entered the clearing and before Sango could apologize for her irrational behaviour he had moved them both to their feet. He looked oddly at her for a moment before picking her up bridal style and carried her back to the others. He could not take her on his back like he carried Kagome. Sango's kimono did not allow that, so he ignored her small sounds of protests as he moved like the wind, backtracking his own trail back to Kagome and the others. He could only hope that they had not worried too much.

Kagome saw them come and she smiled, she was relieved that Inuyasha had found Sango. Although she found it a bit odd that he was carrying her. Was she hurt?

- Sango-chan, are you ok? she asked.

- Yes, I am ok. I am sorry if I worried you Kagome-chan, said Sango and a small blush coloured her face.

- What happened?

- I… I rather not talk about it ok, said Sango with a pleading voice.

- Ok, come, let have some breakfast and everything will be better, smiled Kagome. She did not want to push her friend. When Sango was ready she was going to talk to her.

- Thank you Kagome-chan.

Kagome began cooking breakfast when Miroku decided to wake up. Sango stiffened noticeable but Inuyasha was there and sat down between Sango and the lecherous monk. He got a thankful look from Sango and she continued to help Kagome with their food.

- Gods, it feels like I have been mauled by a horde of samurais, groaned Miroku and rubbed his sore head.

- That horde was Sango and I suggest that you keep your perverted ass at least ten feet away from her or you will be killed Miroku, snarled Inuyasha.

Kagome turned around just in time to see Inuyasha's golden eyes flash red, it was just for a microsecond, but they had flashed red. She wondered what Sango had told Inuyasha during their absence.

Miroku paled and moved away from the hanyou. He did not want to risk his wrath. He looked towards Sango; she had her back against him. But he could feel the anger flaring out, warning him that if he tried anything, she would cause him some seriously brain damage. "But I did not do anything, nothing more than I usually do." he thought a bit hurt and mumbled something about visiting a bush.

A compact silence of destruction was evident in the group for a long period of time that day, the only ones who were talking was Inuyasha and Sango, they whispered to each other and at one time Sango giggled. Kagome looked back at them and she saw Inuyasha smile to the taijya. A black fire of jealousy erupted inside her chest. Inuyasha had never smiled like that towards her. "Wait, why should I be jealous? I already have promised Hojo that I will be marrying him. Inuyasha is my friend, nothing else." she sighed and wanted to kick herself for feeling jealous. If Sango and Inuyasha liked each other, than that was just fine. If it was visible, a small light bulb would be seen over Kagome's head. "Perhaps they need some help here. Knowing them both, they will take their time because they are so shy." Kagome giggled and that caught the attention of Miroku and Shippou.

- What's so funny Kagome-sama? asked Miroku.

- Nothing special Miroku-sama, I just thought of something funny back home. Which reminds me… said Kagome and turned around. - Inuyasha, when we get back to Kaede's village, is it ok for me to go back home for a couple of days?

- Keh, whatever, snorted Inuyasha.

- Thank you, laughed Kagome.

The tension in the group was cut and Kagome sighed in relief. "Thank Kami for that." she thought. "It was killing us all slowly."

It was almost dusk when they reached Kaede's village. Kagome said good bye to the group and went to the magic well. She told Inuyasha that she had promised her fiancée that she would go out with him and that she would be back in two days.

Inuyasha had found his place on Kaede's roof. He saw the stars above being lit one by one. He sniffed the air and knew that Sango was resting down below. It was too hot to be sleeping inside. He moved a sleeved arm to his face and inhaled deeply. Her strong scent was still lingering in his haori and somehow it made him feel calm. A quick glance lower and he frowned, her scent was also arousing he concluded and tried to will the tent in his pants away.

Miroku never saw Inuyasha on the roof, but he saw Sango sit against the wall and he walked over to her. He needed to talk to her. Kirara and Shippou were inside with Kaede he guessed. "She is all alone and that is good. Perhaps I can talk to her about yesterday." He thought.

But before Miroku got a chance to get close to Sango, he was yanked away by a strong, clawed hand. Inuyasha had grabbed him by the neck and he was disposed like a piece of garbage.

- Don't even think about it you perv! snarled Inuyasha.

- I-Inuyasha??

- Are you so thrilled of getting yourself killed, try to be useful while doing it and take on Naraku on your own instead! said Inuyasha with a calm but yet vicious voice.

- What the hell is wrong with you??!! shouted the monk.

During their racket Sango had come out of her sleep and she saw that Inuyasha stood protectively in front of her. She smiled inwardly and she rose to her feet. She saw Miroku sprawled out on the ground, trying to get his posture together again.

- You have no idea what your filthy hands are doing to a woman do you? asked Inuyasha.

- W-what?

- Please, Inuyasha… whispered Sango from behind.

- No, he fucking needs to hear this Sango-chan, said Inuyasha, his voice had turned from a spine chiller to a warm soothing tone.

- Sango-chan???? Miroku squeaked.

- I am sure he will not try anything again Inuyasha, please…

- Alright, but if he comes close again…

Inuyasha let his threat hanging in the air. He felt Sango's hand on his shoulder and he calmed down. He was amazed by that, how the hell could she do that. A small touch and he was instantly calmed. He looked at Miroku; his fierce eyes glowed in the semi darkness.

- I suggest that you find yourself another place to sleep bouzo, said Inuyasha. - A place very far from here.

- But.. but… I always sleeps here, protested Miroku.

- Not anymore, get away from here while your balls is still in the right place, snarled the hanyou.

Miroku got up and ran into the village, not wanting to get castrated by a raging half demon. Inuyasha took deep breath and turned around to look at Sango. She smiled at him and all his anger was washed away.

- Are you ok Sango-chan? asked Inuyasha with a soft voice.

- Yes, thank you Inuyasha… -kun, said Sango and blushed lightly.

- I am sorry I woke you up.

- It is ok, just hope that he has learned his lesson now, said Sango.

- If he has not, too bad for him then, smiled Inuyasha.

For a few moments they just stood there watching each other. Inuyasha was the first one to snap out of the trance and he moved away.

- I don't think that we have to worry about him coming back tonight, why don't you go back to sleep Sango-chan?

- Inuyasha..?

- Yes…

- Can I hug you again?

Inuyasha felt a wave of heat go through his system, but he nodded. She put her arms around his waist and rested her head against his shoulder. He could feel her warm breath against his throat and he put his arms around her and relaxed into her embrace. He leaned his chin on the top of her head and he smiled a bit. He had grown quite a bit since Kagome woke him up two years ago.

- Inuyasha-kun?

- Yes Sango-chan?

- Thank you for being there for me, whispered Sango.

- I always will be here for you, never doubt that.

- Good.

He hugged her close and breathed in her minty scent before he let her go to get some sleep. He sat next to her against the wall and he was a bit surprised when she leaned her head against his arm. He could hear her sniff his haori and he looked down only to see her smile in her sleep, like she was taking comfort in him being near her. "Always Sango… always." He thought before he closed his eyes and drifted off into a light sleep.
