Inuyasha woke up with a terrible headache. He hadn’t realized just how much he drank. The small amount of light coming in from the blinds caused him to groan and roll over. He tried to get back to sleep but the piercing sounds from the radio disturbed him. He turned over again and read the clock. It illuminated ‘Nine thirty’. He groaned again. He had class in an hour.
He turned off the alarm clock and got out of bed. He realized he was still in his clothes. “Good.” He said out loud. The last thing he remembered was kissing Kagome. He was relieved that they hadn’t done anything. If he was going to sleep with his best friend, he at least wanted to be sober for it.
He took a shower and changed his clothes. He noticed a note on the mirror. He took it off and smiled as he read it.
·Morning sleepy pants! I had class at eight so I’m gone, as you can tell. I won’t be back until late tonight ‘now that I have to work for Sango’. You can come by work if you want though. But why don’t you try sleeping at your own apartment for a change. J I’ll see you later. All My Love – Kagome -
He kept the note, tucking it safely into his pocket. He locked the apartment and left. He wanted to grab a coffee before class.

Kagome walked into the bar. “Hey Rodrigo.” She smiled sweetly to the bouncer.
“Hello Kagome.” He smiled back. “Where’s Sango?”
“It’s Miroku’s birthday.”
“Ahh, a mischievous party no doubt.” He laughed.
Kagome laughed too. “Yeah. Knowing them.”
“Tam will be happy to have help.” He nodded toward the other girl working.
“I bet. It’s always busy on Monday’s. It’s crazy.” She walked into the back and changed into the uniform. It was a short skirt, and a skimpy top. All of the female bartenders and waitresses had to wear them. The males, however, could wear pants and long sleeves if they wanted. It was one of the most sexist places to work; but Kagome needed the money.
She walked up to Tam. “Hey.” She said.
“Hey. Oh my god. So guess who was in here yesterday?”
“Who?”
“Chizabelle. Yeah I know.” Tam put her hands on her hips. “She was with Tom. Uh huh, I know. I almost killed them.” She rolled her eyes. Tom was Tam’s ex. Chizabelle was apparently his new girlfriend. Kagome thought it hard to keep up. “So, where’s your body guard?”
Kagome shrugged. “Probably still passed out.” She laughed.
“Ha ha.” Inuyasha came up behind her as though on cue. “You are so witty Kagome.”
“What are you doing here?” She asked.
“Making sure that no one touches you.” He said. “Hey Mike, can I get a glass of Ginger Ale.”
“Not a Captain tonight Yash?”
“No thanks Mike.”
He hugged Kagome from behind. “You smell good.” He said.
Kagome shook her head and wiggled away from him. “You’ve been acting so weird. For like a week.” She pushed on his chest slightly. “I have to work.”
“So work.” He sat down at the bar, sipping his ginger ale.

The night was almost over and Kagome was cleaning up. The bar was open until seven in the morning, but Kagome only had to work until one. She started cleaning up and Inuyasha was helping her.
“You know I’m not giving you any of my tips.” She said, as he wiped down another table.
“That’s okay.” He said sneaking up on her and grabbing her from behind. “I work for love.” He said.
“Dork.” She laughed. But her laughing quickly stopped as she saw Kouga walk in. She tried to get away from Inuyasha, but Kouga had already seen.
Inuyasha backed away as he caught the scent of the wolf, and a tinge of Kagome’s fear.
“What are you doing?” He asked Yash, trying to be casual.
“He wasn’t doing anything Kouga.” Kagome answered. “He was just goofing around.”
“Uh huh.” He pulled Kagome to him and kissed her.
Kagome tried not to be too obvious that she didn’t want to kiss him. The truth was, his kisses were like drinking a glass of water. Pure water. She was afraid of drowning in his slobbery kisses.
“Come on Kouga, I have to work.” She said, pushing on his chest to get him away from her.
“Oh, but that Mutt can touch you?” He asked, shoving Inuyasha.
Inuyasha growled at him and shoved him back. “Stop it you two!” Kagome said. “You’re going to get me fired!”
“Kagome.” The bartender, and manager, called.
“Yes?” She asked, walking over to him.
“You can go now, if you need to.” He said, looking at Kouga and Inuyasha, who were snarling at each other.
“Thanks.” She went into the back to change and came back out. They hadn’t killed each other yet.
“I’m leaving now.” She said so that they could both hear her. They both followed.
Kagome unlocked her car and went to get in before Kouga stopped her. “Kouga, I’m tired. I want to go home.”
“Just come over for a little bit.” He said, giving her a pout. It didn’t work on him the way it did on Inuyasha.
“No, Kouga. Not tonight.” She could see Inuyasha smirking from behind Kouga.
“Come on Kagome.” He started to get rough with her.
“No Kouga. I said not tonight.”
“Come on.”
“She said no asshole.” Inuyasha stepped in and pushed Kouga back.
“I didn’t think this was any of your business.” Kouga shoved Inuyasha aside and Inuyasha punched him.
“You’ll pay for that.” Kouga said, punching him back. Inuyasha laughed.
“Was that suppose to hurt?”
Before Kagome could stop them the two of them were at each other’s throats. Literally. Kagome tried to break them apart, but couldn’t. Kouga’s friends held down Inuyasha while Kouga kicked him.
“Stop it!” Kagome ordered. “Stop it! Stop it!” he continued to ignore her. “STOP IT!”
She threw herself on to Inuyasha, covering him with her body. Kouga stopped. “Get the fuck out of the way Kagome!”
“First of all it’s not fair fighting three on one! Secondly, you’ll kill him! He’s my best friend Kouga. Leave him alone.” Kouga nodded to his buddies and they released Inuyasha.
Yash stood up, Kagome standing with him. Blood poured from his mouth, the cracking noise his ribs made not a good sign. “Don’t you ever raise your voice to Kagome.” He said, his eyes flashing red. Kagome could sense that his demon side wasn’t far from coming out and she tried to stop him.
“Yash, let it go.”
“No.”
“Yash.” She turned his face to hers. She looked him in the eye and silently begged her scent to calm him. “Please Yash. Let it go.”
His eyes flashed amber, and then crimson, before going back to amber and staying. He shook his head. “This isn’t over Kouga.”
“I’m petrified.” Kouga said sarcastically. “Come on guys. Let’s go.”
Kouga was well out of ear shot before Kagome turned to Inuyasha. “Are you okay?” She asked.
“Yeah, I’m fine.” He said.
“Are you sure?” he nodded. “I was so scared.” She hugged him to her and he could smell her tears.
“Why are you crying?” He frowned. “I wouldn’t kill him if you told me not to.”
“I wasn’t scared about that.” She said, wiping her eyes with her hand. “I thought he was going to hurt you.”
“He did.” Yash said, smiling and helping her wipe away her tears.
“But . . .”
“I know.” Inuyasha hugged her again. “It’s okay Kagome. I’m fine. Really.” He heard her sniffle and her tears continued. “Please don’t cry Kagome.”
She nodded and stood back. “You should get home, and rest. Those wounds will heal in no time.” She said.
“Do you want me to go with you?” He asked.
She shook her head. “I’ll be okay. You should be worrying about you.” She said. “Take care of your wounds.”
“I will.”
“I’ll see you tomorrow.” She said.
“Okay.” He reluctantly let her get into her car. He watched her car’s tail-lights vanish into the distance before he went to his own car.
