Chapter 23: Poof! And we appear!

Standing in front of Kagome was the last person she expected her mother to know, Koga. “You but how and why oh, my head.” Kagome whimpered as he rushed towards InuYasha’s still form. Koga dropped the bag he held and lifted InuYasha’s wrist to feel the pulse. He then carefully removed InuYasha’s shirts and proceeded to look at that also. Nodding to himself, Koga rummaged in the bag and pulled out gauze, some type of bottled liquid and a needle and thread.

“It’s not very serious for a hanyou, but since it’s his human night then it’s pretty bad.” Koga said as he cleaned the deep wound on InuYasha’s chest that she didn‘t know was there. “He’ll survive.” Koga said quickly after seeing the horrified expression on her face. Koga stitched the wound closed and pulled a roll of gauze from his bag and proceed to wrap InuYasha’s chest with care.

“Why are you here?” Kagome asked him as she sat in a chair feeling faint.

“To see to your hanyou? Why else?” he asked confused. He looked up at her as he paused in his wrapping.

“No I mean why are you in this time and why does my mother know you?” Kagome asked.

Koga chuckled and tied off the bandages before answering her. “Well seeing that this is also my time and your mother knows me because well I made a pledge a long time ago to somebody to protect this place. I don’t think you know him.” Koga stood and picked up his medical supplies. “I suggest he stay in bed for at least a day or two. Until his chest wound fully closes.”

“Thank you Koga.” Kagome said as she jumped up and ran to the couch to hold InuYasha’s head in her lap.

“Mrs. Higurashi, I think she needs to see her father now, while InuYasha is sleeping.” Koga said as he paused at the door.

“I think so too. I’ll call him up.” Mrs. Higurashi said as she opened the door to let the wolf demon out. He nodded to her and left, softly closing the door behind him.

Picking up the phone, she dialed a number not used since Kagome’s first trip down the well. “Hello may I speak to Mr. Higurashi? Yes this is his mate.”

***Back with Sango, Miroku, Shippo and Kirara. (half an hour after the phone call)***

“Don’t think about it.” Sango warned Miroku as his ‘cursed hand’ wandered a little to close to her. Miroku pulled his hand away from her butt and sheepishly smiled. Sango sighed. “Shippo how bad do you think InuYasha was hurt?”

“He lost a lot of blood but I think he’ll be okay.” the small kit rubbed Kirara’s back obviously trying to comfort himself.

“Pervert!” Sango screamed as Miroku’s hand came in contact with her forbidden assets. A smile crossed his face as Sango brought her hand over his head in a closed fist and knocked him out. “Stupid pervert. Supposed to be a monk, ha!” Sango began mumbling to herself. Miroku had crumpled to the ground with that smile still firmly planted on his face.

Shippo looked at her with concern before he stiffened. The hairs along his back and tail began to bristle.

“Shippo? What’s wrong?” Sango asked seeing the kitsune’s distress.

“A yokai. An inu yokai. Smells odd almost familiar.” Shippo said as a black haired man stepped into the clearing. He stood tall, nearly as tall as Sesshomaru, his face held no malice, no anger and no wall of unnerving calm. His facial markings were colored gold and two jagged stripes ran along both sides of his face while beneath his dark bangs a fifth marking sat, the symbol for fire. His eyes though were the same as Kagome’s, soft brown with gold flecks dancing within them. His clothing wasn’t normal either, and if Kagome was there she would call it a black suit with a gold tie.

“Calm down kit.” he said calmly as he smiled. Shippo fluffed up more and growled. “I’m sure kit, by scent alone you know who I am.”

“Your not related to Kagome by any chance?” Sango asked as she held her giant boomerang in front, ready to strike.

“Yes, I am her father.” he said as Miroku groggily got up.

“Sango you didn’t have to hit that hard I barely touched you.” he complained unaware of the full blooded inu yokai watching him with amusement. “Sheeesh trust a woman not to look at you.” he said when he noticed Sango looking behind him. “Who are you?” Miroku asked as he brought his prayer bead covered hand up and prepared for the worst.

“Be at ease monk.” the dark haired stranger said. “I come with peace.” (Okay couldn’t resist.)

Miroku looked at him and rubbed his head. “Sango you hit me harder than usual? I think I see a dark haired, friendlier version of Sesshomaru.”

Sango rolled her eyes and used her weapon to hit him over the head again. “he’ll never learn.” she said as Miroku crumpled to the floor.

“I am Ryoko Higurashi, second son of the Lord of the Northern Lands.” he bowed deeply to Sango and Shippo.

“I didn’t know the Northern Lord had a son.” Sango said.

“I will explain later. Right now Kagome and InuYasha are going to need your help.” they looked at him oddly. “In her era.”

“What?” Miroku asked as he came too again.

“I am deeply sorry.” he said as a dark haze began to form around the small group. Closing his eyes he visualized the shrine steps as they stood in his time and used his power to transport him and Kagome’s pack to a new era, for he knew Naraku would find out about the well and seal it.

As the darkness disappeared a man with long black hair stood in the center of a circle of two teens, a kit and a neko yokai, all unconscious. He looked up when he saw his wife and her brother appear. “Are they okay?” she asked as she hovered around the unconscious kids.

“For now.” he simply said as he stepped over to embrace his mate. As he did so the monk began to awake.
