~ For Your Eyes Only ~
Prologue

As the sun set and the dark blanket of the night was thrown upon the lands, the forest always woke up to life. Though darkness was considered eerie and dangerous, it in fact was the time of all life. The comprehensive orchestra of nature's inhabitants tuned their instruments and then a faint melody could be heard rising from the ground and attaching its tune into everything else - the trees, the waters… The wind lifted up some fallen-down leaves to the air and twirled them around and around, until too tired of the play. It was the time of dance, the time of music; the time to celebrate and to feel the joy of freedom.

In the midst of the lush forest, three cloaked figures proceeded deeper into its dwellings in a hasty manner. The youngest one of them, being led onwards by the two other ones, clasped her cloak tighter around her shoulders, the heat of the night burning its flames through the long hooded robe that had been placed to cover her body. It was not the temperature that caused her form to shiver. The excitement and fear that hung heavy in the air gnawed the deepest bottom of her fragile mind. It mixed with everything else she had acknowledged through her mentor and scared her when the face of the supposedly sinful result was about to make its appearance.

It was the full moon; the night of fertility and the celebration of the Great Mating. Slowing down briefly, the young maiden glanced up at the sky to meet the moon shining down at her. Though it had always been close to her, she now found no solace from its presence. Lowering her eyes back to the path in front of her, her senses sharpened, as the group of three came closer to the destined clearing, the place where her fate as a priestess would be fulfilled.

"When the sun rises from the East, the heir is to have been generated. It is the need of our people, and the destiny you have been given."

Her jet-black hair cascaded down her back, waving like the sea on a mild summer day. Her big, brown eyes framed by long lashes held great emotions, hidden behind a golden mask. She glanced around herself, nervous and afraid. Her heart beat thunderously in her chest. She swallowed hard and tried to rid the anxiousness from her thoughts. Her mentor's words echoed in her mind and hunted her with every step taken closer to the tryst.

"You are to be joined with the prince of the great Warrior Clan. He is to be your future mate and the companion of your life."

Finally, they had arrived.

Her body trembled and she glanced around herself nervous as ever. The dark forest the three had just emerged from was now sadly behind, not offering any refuge or hiding. The clearing was illuminated by a great bond-fire, around which she saw creatures unidentified to her knowledge. They looked human enough, but seemed to be of different races of demons, with pointed ears and claws that threatened to slice apart anyone who opposed them. They wore different styled haori and hakama, some with protection on their feet as well, some without any. Glancing down at her own feet she realized the meaning for all the torment she had been made to endure leaving barefooted. She had been prepared. She had been taken to the first stage of becoming a part of them.

The worse part of her mentor's speech flowed into her mind and she winced involuntarily. Of course - she should not forget the contract. After all, she was just a commodity, an object in the midst of a greater exchange. After this night no life of hers would ever be the same again…

The group around the clearing stared at her, scrutinizing and measuring, yet respect and veneration in every from. With a quick calculation she concluded there to be five to ten of them, most of them males. While fidgeting in front of them, she heard a growl rise from somewhere above her head. It was not vicious, more like intriguing, and lifting her gaze, the young maiden found her eyes meeting with a pair of others.

On the side of the clearing stood a plateau, though the rest of the land had collapsed long ago, creating the small valley where the crowd was now residing. On that high ground stood a figure - straight and strong, confidence shining through and illuminating his whole appearance. He seemed to be a youth, for her relief. His body was that of warriors with bulging muscles apparent. He wore no protection for the upper body, leaving the well-toned and muscular chest and stomach bare; but his robes that covered everything under the navel were of a certain skin - a strange red material bagged into loose trousers.

It was he.

She stared, though every cell and inch of her body and mind screamed at her to stop and turn her eyes away. However, she couldn't. His posture was so mighty, so powerful it made her head spin. He looked back at her; his face also hidden behind a mask. Yet still, she could feel his intense gaze. It feasted at her hidden form, and sought for quick conclusions on if she was a satisfying prize. Frightening feelings dwelled in the pit of her stomach and unconsciously she grabbed her shield tighter.

Suddenly he nodded at the two warriors on both of his sides. They leaped down, scaring her with the suddenness of the situation, and grabbed her forearms sending a clear message not to try and flee. She lifted her gaze to him, but to her surprise, found him missing from the spot where he had just been.

She found herself being taken deeper to the residence of the clan. Her two escorts from home were gone and now it was only she and the youkai. She looked around herself desperately and felt hopeless and alone, hanging her head for not having the courage to meet the fierce eyes of the inhuman creatures.

Her thoughts soon come into a halt when the trio stopped before a large cave. She eyed it suspiciously, but decided it was better than in the middle of these strangers. Her arm was jerked and she was thrown forward into the opening of the grotto. Falling to the ground with her hands first coming to contact with the soil, she groaned in pain.

She remembered her mentor telling her that the Warrior Clan was not famous for hospitability or kindness. They still didn't need to treat her like this though! Hot tears threatened to gather into her eyes, which she pushed away quickly.

Why?

Why her?

Keeping her dignity she grasped the nearly fallen cloak and pulled it back around her shoulders. Thankfully the mask covered her face so that she didn't need to show her true feelings to the ones around her. It was embarrassing already to fall in the middle of all this… She would not let them break her down anymore.

"Go inside!"

Her head jerked upwards when that commanding voice drifted to her hearing. Lifting her gaze from the ground she saw her addresser. He stood behind her, hands folded over his chest and eyes gleaming in a dangerous manner. She felt slight panic rise, but slowly rose and turned around to look into the darkness of the cave. When noticing torches in the otherwise dark looking portal she decided it as safe to proceed. Taking a last glance at the two warriors, she disappeared inside.

Naturally carved steps took her under ground, the path lightened with torches hanging on the walls. The air was fresh and a bit cooler than up on the ground. It smelled pleasant - the scents of clean fur, fire, and another scent she didn't recognize drifting to her nostrils. It was sensual, coaxing… inviting her deeper into the dwelling.

She came into an underground lair. It was relatively small with no natural light, only fire being spread on the walls. There was a thick hide on the ground, it tickling her bare feet when she emerged from the last step. Before her was a stand that apparently played the role of a futon. She shivered, but took another step closer, forcing herself to the side of it.

She slid her hand on the many layers of soft fur. Bringing a knee on the edge, she pulled herself on it, then quietly sat and listened to her own heartbeat.

In silence, she scanned the cave once more, finding only shadows around herself. It was frugal, but at the same time somehow cozy. She felt her breathing even out a bit, only in time to hear footsteps and see a shadow move on the walls of the stairs. Her eyes widened and an involuntarily gasp escaped from her lips. Then he was before her, standing in the same power as back at the plateau.

"The ritual consists of your joining, where you are to meet for the first time. During this encounter you are to be ready to submit to his will."

"The agreement allows us humans to have your first-borne, him being made our spiritual and powerful leader. In return, the clan gets you. It is your fate that has decided upon it and your responsibility as a priestess to follow that destiny."

He looked at her from the steps, silence filling the space between them. She stared at him, horrified and thought about her mentor's words but found no solace from them as he took yet another step closer to her.

She couldn't pull her eyes away from him as he slowly approached the futon; all at once already standing next to it. They stared at each other, seconds passing by and the rest of the world becoming insignificant as the destined couple mentally prepared themselves for each other.

He grabbed the hem of her cloak. She suddenly felt scared as ever, and clasped her protection over her chest with a life grip. When she voluntarily would not let go of the piece of cloth, he rose to the furs.

She stared wide-eyed, as he crawled over her- like an animal lurking for its prey. She laid underneath him, his strong form hovering over her small and fragile one, ready to feast on her. His powerful legs were sprawled on the sides of her hips, and arms leaned over her shoulders. She was pinned, trapped and pressed into a corner from where there was no escape.

His other hand rose from its place to the side of her face. She noted the claws and hoped not to be hurt by them. Surprisingly, his touch was not harsh as he traced his hand from the side of her cheek to her chin. There he clutched it and tilted it upwards, causing her look into his eyes that were hidden behind the mask.

They were golden.

It was all she was able to make, not even the shape or other features she would have wished to know. They held a certain hunger, but even that was vague for the camouflage covering them. So captured in his eyes was she, that she failed to notice his thumb rise to caress her lower lip. She gave a small start on the feeling of his touch on the brim of her mouth. He traced his finger on the edge, from one side to the other. Then slowly, he leaned forward and replaced the digit with his lips.

Her breathing came to an abrupt halt and for a while she laid motionless and almost death-like on the mattress. Her eyes widened in shock and her heart felt like bursting out from her chest.

Her first kiss ever...

His lips were soft and moist. They moved on hers carefully, first gently nipping at the upper lip and then giving it a lingering suck. His tongue traced along the edges of her mouth, treasuring every flavor she emitted.

She was lost in the mist of the moment. She felt his lips on hers and instinctively, without her own notice, responded. He let out a small growl, indicating an approval of her action. His hand had long ago lost its place beside her shoulder and now clutched the front of her robe. She felt her hands being removed from their place above her chest carefully, but in a determined manner. The cloak spread out leaving her naked body exposed for his eyes.

That moment time stopped as he released her lips and lifted his gaze. She wanted to fidget, to crawl up into a ball… anything to hide herself from his fervent eyes.

He let out another growl, sounding as accepting as the previous one. Leaning over, he then buried his face into the nape of her neck and inhaled her scent, while his hand took in every curve of her well-shaped form. It moved down to her hip and from there followed the slope of her folded leg. She felt him hold her from the bend and noted how sensitive the area around there was.

Slowly she had her innocent mind grow dim and the heat of the moment play tricks on her thoughts. She felt feverish and hectic, strange sensations taking over her body.

Nuzzling her neck once more before breaking away, he slowly got to his knees on front of her and started disrobing the ties of his hakama, all the while staring down at her. She found the situation extremely embarrassing, and could not bring her eyes onto his body. Turning her head away and squeezing her eyes shut, she hoped for the awkward moment to pass by quickly. To her surprise he let out an amused chuckle.

Flashing her eyes open and directing her gaze to him, she found him now completely bare in front of her, his lips turned into a wicked smile. Did he find her discomfort funny? At the back of her mind she felt like snapping something witty at him, but didn't get a chance on it, when suddenly feeling his touch on her mask. She gasped audibly when the strings behind her head snapped and the cover of her face was pulled away.

"The mask is to keep your identity unknown. Until the sun rises, it should not be removed. Nothing may come in between the rite - you should have no emotions towards each other during that night. The rule concerns both of you and should not be broken."

Her first reaction was to cover her face with her hands. Between her fingers she peeked at him and noticed that his facial cast was unreadable. The fear of him finding her unattractive and resisting her scared her for she would have failed in her quest.

Silence descended between them and time passed by with an agonizingly slow pace as he continued staring at her. Somewhere at the back of his throat she thought she heard an overpowered sigh being emitted. Then suddenly he grasped his own mask and pulled it away.

She stared at him wide-eyed. The masks had been able to keep a certain mental barrier between them, but now all covers being unshed, it seemed there was nothing anymore to keep them apart.

"I wanted to see you."

She inhaled at his voice, at his words. They were so frank, so straightforward. His voice, though barely a whisper, was rough, but held a safe tone within. The way he said that sentence, so easily, and full of rebellious spirit; was like he stood up against all the rules of this rite. Slowly she became aware of everything else in him that had not registered in her mind yet.

He was different, the thing that first came to surface. As the others had had their ears in the right place on the sides; his stood straight on the top of his head. They were white, and fluffy, like ones of a little puppy's and his face was clear of all markings.

His stern eyes were golden, like she had acknowledged earlier; and dark brows made him appear to have a constant frown. His hair was long, and of a beautiful color of silver, reaching down all the way to his rear. Unruly bangs hung over his forehead.

She found she had no courage to examine his body. Only that his arms were powerful, and chest filled with well-built muscles. Lower her eyes did not dare fall. He shifted above her, and her eyes darted to his.

They were glazed and held a strange look of woeful yearning. Yet he smiled in a way that made her heart skip a beat and lowered his mouth close to hers, ready to kiss her again. Hot breath caressed her lips as he whispered against them.

"You are very beautiful my mate."

She felt her being relax at his words. They made her feel a great deal better than before and she wanted to reply but the words were unable to be voiced. His face lowered to her throat and his lips fumbled on the skin, slowly travelling further down. Nesting against her chest, his mouth found her breast and his wet tongue ran against the hard peak.

Her eyes rolled back and she arched her chest upwards. The same strange sensations as earlier engulfed her and she felt a warm throbbing in her lower stomach. Blood pumped in her veins and heat brought sweat on the surface of her skin. All happened so fast she barely had time to think.

He kissed her breast, lapping on the peak and occasionally sucking it. She moaned lightly and brought her arms around his neck, sinking the other one into his long mane. His hands wandered freely on her naked body, touching places no one else ever had. His touch made her feel dizzy, his kisses made her shiver.

Her lids flashed open when a hand rested on the most sacred place in her body. Her breath came out in ragged puffs, as he carefully made sure of her readiness. She felt something wet flow down the side of her inner thigh and him suck in the surrounding air. Did he just smell her?

Something hard pressed against her thigh. She lowered her eyes to see it but came in contact with only the messy mop of silver hair. He was still busy with her bosom, now drawn his attention to the other side. She sighed, pleasurable waves rippling through her.

When he stopped, her skin felt hot and treated. It shone a bright red, the same hue that her cheeks had. He drew up and locked his eyes with hers.

"You warm up fast, I'm glad."

She blinked as the meaning of his words bored into her. Everything felt so dizzy and untrue, everything around her was dim, even his words felt hazy. He stared at her, glazed eyes making acquaintance with hers. His lips moved, asking her something…

"…What's your name…?"

She blinked again. Her mouth opened for a reply, her voice found somewhere deep from her throat. She licked her lips, the gesture somehow as erotic as the moment at hand.

"Ka-Kagome."

He stared at her for the briefest of moments, closed his eyes and chuckled lightly in a strange, ironic manner. He then returned his gaze to her and nodded almost invisibly. Kagome sensed a peculiar aura radiating from him and found it disturbing for it made her feel like an outsider amongst the two of them. She had little chance to think further on it when feeling him shift above her.

Powerful legs moved to spread her thighs. The same hardness she had felt earlier now pressed against her crotch, making her feel vulnerable as ever. The tip of the length was placed between her slick folds. Her breath raced and anxiousness filled her mind. Sensing her discomfort, he brought his hands up to entwine his fingers with hers. She found solace from the action - the reassuring squeeze of his hand somehow relaxing her. She looked up at him and found him frowning, his gaze focused on nothing in particular. Biting down on her lower lip, she settled her focus on the wall behind his back and squeezed her eyes shut, when feeling the length against her press deeper and slowly into her.

She whimpered as the thick rod filled her. It felt like having something way too big forced into something way too small, invading her, hurting her and earning a painful cry from her. He stopped halfway, grunted, and for Kagome's alleviation, glanced down at her with a look she could have taken for worry. Bringing their still clasped hands close to his chest, he lowered his face on hers, planted his lips against her shivering ones and gave them a soft stroke. Kagome closed her eyes and tried to find comfort in what he did, but her eyes flashed open and a muffled scream left her when he finally, slowly but with determination, sunk deep to the hilt in her.

She felt him squeeze her hand a bit tighter than before and wonderer had he also felt pain. He shivered, lifted his mouth from hers and stared down at her with a look on his face she could quite not read. Slowly, not breaking eye-contact, he began moving back and forth in her. It was unhurried at first, the two bodies only practicing with the movement. At fist, she was not sure whether she still felt pain or just discomfort, but after a while the tingling sensations slowly returned to her and she tried to focus on enjoying the act - difficult as it was taken the situation into consideration.

Gradually, he began pushing into her with more force than before, not fast yet, but in a way that made her moan and emit sounds she had not even known she could make. Kagome felt his grip on her hand loosen and she took the freedom to wrap her arms around his shoulders to pull him close with each thrust he made. His hair on her skin felt soft and silky and his broad shoulders quivered under her touch. His hands moved to wrap around her small form and his panting in her ear caused electric shocks to run down her spine and her already disorientated mind saw stars.

Somewhere in the midst of the moment, Kagome found her thoughts return to her former life - her childhood, her youth, her disciplined studies to become a powerful priestess, and to the day when she heard from her mentor about the future that awaited her. All of it culminated into this moment at hand and she fought down the feelings of depression and grief.

His movements above her seemed to intensify and Kagome turned to look at him, only to find him squeezing his eyes shut, his face in a snarl and his whole body rigid. Her brows furrowed together in worry, but before having a chance to act on it, he grunted on top of her, his arms around her grasping her even closer to him. With her face pressed tightly to the nape of his neck, she felt him shiver violently and something shooting within her.

He held her for a while, before slowly letting her go and easing her down to the furs. On the moment her head rested against the futon, Kagome wasn't sure what to do. Was it now over? Should she say something? Glancing up at him, she found his piercing golden eyes stare right back into her brown ones and she felt such immense intimacy in them that it made her uneasy. Turning her head to the side she scrutinized the wall.

She felt him pull away from within her and something moist and sticky came out at the same time. The warmth his body had provided her left and suddenly she felt utterly exposed and alone. Curling to her side she listened to the sounds of him getting up from the futon and collecting his belongings from the ground. The rustling noises behind her indicated on him getting dressed and she tried hard to swallow down the pile that was stuck in her throat. The hot tears in her eyes however showed no mercy and without a warning trailed down her cheeks, landing on her bare forearms and breasts.

Closing her eyes and holding back the sobs she felt something soft being dropped on top of her. Inspecting the material, she found it to be her cloak from before and quickly wrapped it around her. Glancing over her shoulder, she saw him standing with his back towards her close to the steps that lead outside. He spoke to her without turning, in a tone that held no emotions.

“Sleep, we will be leaning at sunrise”

Without another word or a look at her, he proceeded to the stairway and out of her sight.

Kagome felt the world crumbling down at her and finally let all the pent-up emotions out in painful cries. She squeezed the cloak to her body tightly and allowed the tears to run down freely. Her body trembled with her sobs and the pain that held her heart in a death-grip didn't seem to ease off no matter how long she wept. The salty tears made the furs below her head moist and wiping her face against the covers she tried to suppress the shivers of cold. Crawling up into a small ball, she let herself get engulfed in all her misery.

Her sobbing finally eased away and sleep claimed her. The torches on the walls showed signs of burning out and the only sound in the cave was her light breathing. Above the ground, a group of youkai sat around the bonfire, feasting on fresh meat and conversing in an airy manner. A lone figure sat on a rock further from them on the side and had his solemn face turned up towards the moon. Letting out a heavy sigh, he closed his eyes and wondered quietly to himself.

The irony of life…
