InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Forbidden ❯ The Truth ( Chapter 3 )
Kagome traced the roses on her hair clips. Her hair was a little messed up, but the strands that stuck out at the sides of her head gave her a tough girl look. Too bad she couldn't back that up. Dried tears stained her face, and every once in a while she would touch her lips and recall her moment with Inuyasha. Why would I do that? That was so unladylike. I wasn't brought up that way. The tin door creaked open and Sesshomaru stepped inside. For the first time in her life Kagome wasn't scared, she was pissed off. The man leaned against the silver stove so that he was directly in front of her.
"Against my better judgment, I thought I might as well tell you why we kidnapped you. Do you want to know?" he asked.
"Of course I do!" Kagome snapped back. She couldn't believe the way she was acting. It was like she was a completely different person.
"Well, well, well. You act completely different from what I've heard about you." he laughed. Kagome stood up and pressed herself against the wall.
"Okay, tell me." she said quietly.
"Alright. Do you know what your mother does for a living?"
"Yes. She owns a bunch of gold mines."
"Wrong. That's her cover. Your mother also smuggles drugs to different."
"No! My mother would never do that!"
"Sorry to say princess, but she's into the big business."
"Oh my god...." Kagome sunk back to the floor with her face buried in her hands. Sesshomaru looked down at her with pity.
"Now that you know that, I'll tell you why you've been kidnapped."
"How could she?"
"Your mother is obviously a very rich woman. My boss Naraku sent us out to kidnap you for a ransom."
"Do you mean Naraku the big bad guy?"
"Yes, Naraku the crime lord."
"Then, why me? I'm not the only rich kid."
"Do you really want to know?"
"Yes."
"Okay then. We took you because you're a complete dumbass."
"Is that what people think of me?"
"Sorry to say, but yes."
"Go away."
"Don't you want to know the rest?"
"GO AWAY! JUST LEAVE ME ALONE!!!" Kagome screamed. Sesshomaru left leaving Kagome lying pathetically on the floor crying her eyes out.
Inuyasha rested his arms against the railing watching the dock move farther away. His mind couldn't stop drifting to Kikyo. He could remember every little detail: her eyes were shining from the glare from the sun, her lips were bright pink, and her hair was flowing down her back. She looked like a goddess. He was in a trance for so long he didn't notice that the dock was nothing but a speck in the distance. A small orange-haired boy wearing a large hooded sweater hopped onto the railing.
"Hey Inuyasha!" he chimed happily. Inuyasha sighed and started to walk off.
"Hey Inuyasha! How come you were all sad back there?" the orange-haired boy asked as he merrily walked beside him.
"Shippo, I'm not in the mood for your bullshit okay?" Inuyasha said a little aggressively. Shippo stopped and a couple of tears slipped down his face. Inuyasha rolled his eyes and kneeled down so that he was at eye-length with the young boy.
"I'm sorry." he said softly. Inuyasha could never stay mad at Shippo. Ever since the day they met, Inuyasha had always held a special place for him.
Flashback
Inuyasha crouched behind the dumpster clutching a walkie-talkie in his left hand, a gun in another. A fizzing sound came from the walkie-talkie and Inuyasha immediately held it by his mouth. A deep voice came from it.
"Inuyasha are you there?"
"I'm here."
"Good. We found the guns. They're at the top floor."
"Any guards?"
"None. You're clear. Just try not to wake up the kids. Remember, you're breaking into an orphanage"
"Okay. I'm going in." Inuyasha slipped from behind dumpster so that he was up against a building's wall. Quickly he jet to the front doors of the building. The door was easily opened and Inuyasha entered into a hall. He quickly jet up seven flights of stairs. Once at the top floor he talked into the walkie-talkie.
"Hello? I'm on the top floor. Which room is it at?"
"Number 287. The last bed on the right. It's under that bed."
"Okay." Inuyasha crept silently towards the door. Slolwy he turned the brass knob and the door opened with no sounds. Getting down on all fours, Inuyasha crawled to the last bed on the right. Slowly he rose up on his haunches. A small kid with red hair was sleeping soundlessly, wrapped in the thin sheet he was sleeping with. Inuyasha noticed that everybody else had a blanket, but this kid had a sheet. His heart softened at that moment and he took of his hooded sweatshirt. He unzipped it and laid it across the small figure. Happy with what'd he done, Inuyasha reached under the bed, feeling for a box.
"What are you doing?" a small voice echoed through the room. Inuyasha found himself face to face with two light brown eyes.
"Go back to sleep kid!" Inuyasha whispered.
"Are you looking for the guns?" the boy asked. Inuyasha froze.
"I have them right here. At first I thought that they were some clothes." he pulled the sheet off the uncover a dark brown, leather suitcase. Inuyasha snapped out from his haze and took the suitcase from the kid's hands.
"When did you find this?" Inuyasha asked.
"A few months ago. Some big guy came here and told me to never take this from under my bed. I thought he was here to adopt me, but I was wrong, "the boy's voice dropped, then he lit up again, "are you here to adopt me?"
"No, sorry kid." Inuyasha saw disappointment on his face.
"But, I can take you with me." Inuyasha took his jacket and wrapped it around the boy.
"You're my lil' brother now." the boy jumped into Inuyasha's arms.
"By the way, the name is Shippo." he said through his happy tears. Inuyasha once again felt his heart soften.
"C'mon Shippo."
End of Flashback
Shippo hugged his big brother and ran off, tripping a few times on the sweatshirt's sleeves. Inuyasha smiled as he watched Shippo go. He was the best thing that ever happened to him.
"Inuyasha!" Sesshomaru called. Inuyasha ran off towards his brother.
Shippo hopped down the steps, tumbling on the sleeves. I'm hungry. As he walked down the ship's halls he stopped to ask one of the crewman where the kitchen was.
"I wouldn't go in there if I was you, but it's on the second to bottom deck" he answered. Shippo ignored the man's advice and made his way to the kitchen. Once again tripping on his sleeves Hippo finally found the kitchen. He pushed the tin door open, and came upon a girl crying inside.
