Chapter2: My Poisoned Body

~Miroku~

Hotness.

His head was burning with pains. So painful. He felt as if it was going to erupt with lava.

And then a cool hand touched him.

He felt better, calmer. The touch felt almost…mystical. It was soft, and gentle and it soothed him.

Who was it? He was desperate to find out. Mustering all the energy he could find within him, he slowly lifted up his heavy eyelids. It was burst with light, but after his pupils were adjusted, he saw the face of a teenager about a year younger than him.

"I know her," he thought blurrily.

"San…go" he pronounced her name with difficulty breathing.

She seemed really happy. "Miroku, you are awake." She said, smiling.

"I told you he would be all right, Lady Sango." A young woman beside her grinned.

"Have I passed out?" he asked, confused. He could not remember anything that has happened.

"You and I were found unconscious by the villagers nearby. And Suki took us in."

"I see," he made it clear that he understood. "Thank you, Lady Suki."

"I'm not old enough to be a <lady>. I'll leave you two alone now, and I have other things to attend to, please excuse me." She grinned apologetically.

"Go ahead, we'll be fine." Sango smiled.

"I'll be back after you finish collecting the herbs."

"Sure."

The young miko-in-training stepped out and quietly slides the door closed.

Miroku still remain dazed for some while, then his mind suddenly clicked in. He had remembered.

"We were fighting Naraku," he said. "And we have lost."

"That's right," Sango muttered softly. His visions are returned to normal now. For the first time, he noticed bandages around her right arm. And there were trails of blood still.

"You're injuries." He said, motioning to her wound. But she quickly covered it.

"It's alright." She insisted. "We should worry more about you."

"I think it's Naraku's insects, I have accidentally swiped some of them into the Wind Tunnel, and now they are poisoning my body."

"Thank goodness there's a priestess here, or else I wouldn't know what to do." Sango chuckled. "Beside I also learned a bit about medicines before." she stood up, strapped a basket onto her back. "I'll go collect get some herbs now," She picked up her Hiraikotzu in her hand and walked out to the door. "You should have as much rest as possible."

Miroku nodded. "Alright"
