Chapter 15~Job Hunting!

~~~The next morining Kagome woke up feeling better than she had the night before. Realizing that she needed to get her life back in order, she dialed her sister Rin's number.

"Hello?"

"Hey Rin..I was wondering if you had that 200 hundred dollars you owe me already?" Kagome asked with out preamble. She needed the money and Rin was usually good at paying it back when she was supposed to and it had been long since overdue.

"Well Gome its like this..I had the money but when you never called to ask for it..well I didnt think you needed it all that bad so I spent it." came Rins cheerfree, careless attitude.

"You what?...Rin how could you..I was waiting for that money..I told you I needed it." she replied a bit angerly. How could Rin do this to her?

"Well if you needed it so bad then why did you call and ask for it when I had it?" came Rins testy but typical reply, sometimes Kagome wondered if Rin actually cared for anyone other than herself and her latest boyfriend. She could be so selfish at times, but so caring and loving at others, it always made it hard for Kagome to be mad at her, but right now it was fairly easy.

"Excuse me??? helloooooooo? you were the one who was supposed to call me when you had it..and for your information I cant see how you spent it when it wasnt your money to spend in the first place..it was mine you owed it to me..and I really need that money now Rin." she replied with anger and a bit of hurt. But she had to remind herself that Rin didnt know about her problems right now, Kagome always kept them to herself when at all humanly possible. But even so Rin had her latest bad boy and when she was with her bad boy, lots of things came second in Rins life, even family.

"Well what the hell do you want me to do?? pull it out of my ass?? I already told you I dont have it..when I get it you'll get it ok?? why you acting like this for Gome?? youve never been a tight wad?" came Rins reply and with that Kagome thought she would just about blow up and hung up the phone without another word before she said something she would regret.

~~~Well that hadnt gone as she had planned Kagome thought as she wiped hurt and very angry tears from her eyes. Sometimes Rin could be so selfish, but she was still her baby sister and she had promised to look after her always. Wiping the last of the tears away, Kagome went to her closet and looked threw it till she found a suitable outfit. Taking a shower and getting dressed she was finally ready to go job hunting. She needed a place of her own, she felt like she was mooching off of Kyoto and that made her feel uncomfortable, not that Kyoto ever said a word or made her feel like that, on the contrary she made her feel like family, but Kagome still felt the need to state her independance. So off she went to look for a job. Luckily Inuyasha was no doubt busy with work himself or he just might make a pest of himself and follow her.

~~~Ok it was late in the after noon and Kagome was tired. She had been to several places that had been hiring but had come to late, they had either just hired the day before or that day itself. Either that or she wasnt qualified enough, didnt have what they were looking for or told her they would call her when thier decision was made. She was soo frustrated she wanted to scream. She promised herself this last place was the last place she would go to for today. As it was she was getting no where and applying for jobs in her moods was not good. So entering the stylish, trendy boutique she walked in and put in an application.

~~~Things seemed to be going much better in this shop than all the others. She had filled out an application and was waiting patiently for the manager to come back and read it and then interview her. Things were looking up again, that is untill she walked in. Kagome hadnt even noticed her till she came up to her.

"Well well...if it isnt my old friend Kagome Hiragashi." came the cool, smooth as silk voice. Kagome looked up and kept herself from scowling, it would not due to cause trouble at the place she was hoping to find work at. So she bit her lip and swallowed her pride to be as nice as she possibly could under the circumstances.

"Why hello Kikyo..long time no see." Kagome replied overly sweet with a fake smile upon her face. This did not go unnoticed by Kikyo.

"Yes its been ages..what are you doing here?? this is my favorite boutique and Ive never seen you here before."

"I dont usually come here." was all Kagome would say. Kikyo noticed the expensive business sort of skirt suit Kagome was wearing and knew how much it must of cost, her mind saw red when she thought that Hojo must of bought it for her when they were seeing each other. In all truths Kyoto had lent her that outfit three days ago when she found out Kagome wanted to go job hunting.

"You know you really have grown up alot since I last saw you..you look nice." Kikyo commented her, although the sound of her polite tone did not reach her cold brown eyes.

"Thank you." replied Kagome just as polite, it to never reached her eyes.

"I have to tell you though I was a tad worried how it would be the first time we saw each other after so long...I was worried that you would hate me."

"What ever gave you that impression Kikyo?" Kagome replied dryly.

"Well after all its not everyday you run into an old friend who is also the ex girlfriend of your new fiancee." Kikyo responded, liking the look she saw on Kagomes face.

"Huh?" Kagome said with confussion, it took a few moments before she realized exactly what Kikyo was telling her and part of Kagome leapt for joy.

"You mean your Hojo's fiancee?" Kagome asked with hope, but Kikyo took it as jealousy and relished it.

"Oh my you mean you hadnt heard?? Im soo sorry I thought you had." Kikyo replied with fake surprise and concern.

"Actually I hadnt but Im soo glad you told me..wow you and Hojo huh?? you guys will make a great couple Im soo happy for you both..you two deserve each other." Kagome replied with all the sincerity she could in her heart. If Hojo was engaged then that hopefully meant he had given up on her which was music to her ears. And although she didnt wish Hojo on any woman, if anyone deserved to have someone like him it was definitly Hojo. Ok so it was cruel, no girl actually deserved to have a foul tempered woman beating man like him, but after all the pain Kikyo had inflicted on her and other girls like her, Kikyo honestly deserved some payback.

"Why thank you Kagome..I was affraid youd be angry..or jealous."

"Not at all..Im actually really happy that you and Hojo found each other." Kagome smiled and Kikyo could see it was a real smile and some of her victory had deflated. Dammit she wanted to make Kagome mad and jealous, instead the little twit was actually happy for her? Why? Hojo was like one of the biggest catches around, any girl would die to have him. Then she remembered seeing her last night and with whom. Then it hit her. Kagome was after Inuyasha Takashi. On the top ten of thee most sought after bachlors Sesshoumaru and Inuyasha Takashi were the top two, Hojo came in third. Just thinking of Kagome having a husband or boyfriend richer than hers was enough to make her see red. She would not be outdone by Kagome, she was better than Kagome and deserved more than her.

"You know I could of sworn I saw you out last night with Inuyasha Takashi..might there be a budding romance going on there that none of us know of Kagome?" Kikyo asked in an over sweet and curious voice. Although she seethed inside. Kagome looked surprised, then guarded.

"Me and Inuyasha?...what ever gave you that Idea? Yes I was out with him last night but as friends, you see me and his sister Kyoto are friends and since Kyoto was out on a business dinner Inuyasha offered to take me out..we're just friends." Kagome smiled. Hating Kikyo for even asking. It was none of her damn business, but for Inuyashas sake she would tell the truth so that his reputation wasnt ruined. All she needed was for rumors of her and Inuyasha to start for things to get out of hand. She didnt need that but most importantly Inuyasha didnt deserve it for being kind to her in a moment of weakness.

~~~Just then the assistand manager called Kagome over and told her the manager was waiting for her in the office. Kagome smiled and waved goodbye to Kikyo, as much as it galled her and went into the office in hoped she come out with a new job. Wanting to know what was up, and knowing the assistant manager personally Kikyo hit her up for information about what Kagome was there for. Kikyo was a very good client of thiers and the assistant had no problems telling her what she wanted to know. When she finished Kikyo smiled evilly. So Kagome was there for a job was she? Well Kikyo wanted to inflict some sort of vengence on her for not being as jealous of her and Hojo as she should of been so she fed the assistant manager a boat load of lies about Kagome.

~~~While Kagome was intervieweing with the manager, the assistant manager came in and called her out of the office to see to some business real quick. While the manager was gone Kagome sighed and smiled to herself. Thing were looking good. The interview was going well and she couldnt help but feel like she was going to be walking away with the job. That is till the manager came back in and sat down. Without a word Kagome could tell by her body language that something had changed and Kagome's gut said it had to do with that witch Kikyo outside. True to her gut the manager cut the interview short and said she would call her when the decison was made. As Kagome walked out of the office she noticed Kikyo sitting on a plush velvet cough having things bought out to her to see. The look on Kikyo's smug face said it all. She had sabotaged her chances of getting this job and she wasnt even trying to hide.

~~~Walking over to Kikyo Kagome stared down at her and asked her what she had done to sabatoge her chances.

"Why Kagome?? I have no clue what your talking about." Kikyo replied in a way to sugary voice, but under her breath for only Kagome to hear she said. "Now you know your place you slut." and with that Kagome sort of finally snapped.

~~~She grabbed some fancy slices of pastry that were sitting on the table next to Kikyo for her pleasure as she shopped and stuffed them into her pompous face. After that it seemed like a little hell broke loose. Kikyo slapped Kagome in outrage and from there Kagome punched her in the face and broke her nose. After that the police had been called and Kagome had been taken into custody for assault and battery. As Kagome sat in jail she sighed and thought, as usual everytime something good happens something bad comes to ruin it. But she could really blame no one for her current perdicament than herself. She was good at holding back her temper. Why had she allowed Kikyo to get her all riled up like this? She had no one to blame but herself for this mess and there was no way in hell she could call her mom and dad, she would shame them by having them come fetch her out. And there was no way she would call Kyoto, she had done enough already and didnt want to add to it. Nope she had to deal with this on her own and if it meant staying here till court and then coming back if found guilty then so be it. Little did she know that both Hojo and Inuyasha, who had been keeping an eye out on her via a man tailing her, knew all about it and were not going to sit by and let her rot in that stupid cell if they could help it.

A/N~Okies heres the next installment of the soap that is my life, of course this part never happened but I thought it was about time Kikyo got at least a bit of a payback dontcha think?? hehe, makes me feel better..how bout you?? anyhow let me know what ya think I hope you like, much huggles and smiles Mija..:-)
